"Le Pied de Mammouth" is a somewhat…read morerarity in this town as no other restaurant is dedicated to the holy grail of food: The Hamburger. Even though it is a small place, it looks more like a restaurant than a fast food joint and the quality of the ingredients combined with the Hamburger knowledge of the staff are going to make it a popular place amongst Hamburger Fashionistas in town. I tried their El Gringo and Batave Burgers and both were excellent. I, however, customized my El Gringo order, replacing grilled onions with fresh onions and adding bacon. I must say that their Cheddar was excellent as well as the beef patties. The buns were a bit over grilled and the lettuce not what you would expect in a hamburger but overall it is very likely the best Hamburger option in town. My only comment would be that their hamburgers tend to border on the French side of Burgerdom and in my book, when it comes to hamburgers, I would say that the more classic and more American the better!

I love the options of vegetarian, and meats other than beef. The duck burger, buffalo burger etc. There is a burger with brie and fig, what could be more french than that? This isn't a grease burger dive, its an exquisite delicious really well prepared burger joint, and if you like burgers this is the place to go. Although the only down side to me is the service, there is usually one person who is the host and the server, they use an ipad to take your orders and are never friendly, and dont usually check back to see if you have everything you ordered/ are satisfied/ need another beer or more ketchup. For dressing up a burger joint so much, I do expect a better server. But when you have such good food it can be forgiven.

We were heading back home that day. Spending countless hours on the German Autobahn (and stuck in…read moretraffic). There are plenty of options along the way, lots of rest stops (Raststätten). But many of them are quite pricey...especially for the buffet-quality food that's been served. We tried some before and won't make that mistake again. So we headed into McD. Prices are considerably lower than the regular Autobahn restaurants and you know what you get. For about 10 Euro a meal we ended up very happy with our choices here. A cheeseburger and fried shrimps, fries, 2 cokes and a Royal with Cheese. All hot, crispy and fresh. Tables inside are plenty, but with our dog we took one of the picknick tables outside. Solid choice, would come back.
