I know all business owners have a bottom line, but you really need to consider having a third person for a busy times. They started serving Toast, so this Celiac family can't eat here anymore. The smoothies are still gluten free, but there is bread crumbs EVERYWHERE and the kids that work here aren't really knowledgeable about cross contamination. It sucks because we used to love Smoothie King :( read more

The staff put the pitaya base in the bowl and proceeded to have a conversation with another customer talking over my bowl. The staff took the top off the trash can and put it on the ground. The staff removed a piece of paper from the trash can. The staff replaced the trash can top back onto the trash can. The staff returned to the counter to complete my smoothie bowl with the same gloves on. I said, Mam!!!! Mam!!!! Are you going to fix my smoothie bowl with those gloves after going through the trash can. She stated I went in the trash to get a receipt. I said you went in the trash can Mam. She said yes, just to get a receipt that's all. I said you can not do that. Staff continued to argue that it's just a trash can and all she was looking for was a receipt. She asked do you want me to start over and I said yes. Another customer walked in and I was advised rudely that I would have to wait. The staff serviced another customer to punish me for their improper handling of food. I asked for a refund which was given. The staff member was angry with me because of what they did. They had to contact the manager to find out the process of giving a refund. The staff lied to the manager about why I wanted the refund. I spoke up and said that is not why!!!! The staff handed me the phone to speak to the manager. I informed her regarding what took place and the manager said that the 2 employees were new and she would talk to them about it. No one ever said, how can we make it right, we are sorry for not getting it right, thank you for bringing that to my attention, can we offer you a gift card, I can change my gloves.....Nothing!!!!! All I received was "You are going to have to wait." This was said twice in a condescending manner. I am a travel nurse from Georgia and I traveled from Hampstead because I was craving a Smoothie Bowl only to waste my gas and time with this situation. Just so very disappointing and frightening. I filed a BBB complaint and Smoothie King did not respond. read more

I recently stopped by at the Amherst Street Smoothie King expecting the usual outstanding smoothie but instead I was faced with a hostile environment and absolutely repulsive smoothies. When I walked to place my order I was "assisted" by a boy with short curly brown hair and glasses who was extremely condescending and made me feel unworthy to buy a smoothie. This delinquent tried to shame me out of buying two 40z smoothies saying that he wasn't surprised I would make such a large order because of the flubber on my so called face. When I gave him my name he tried refuse to actually use it as the label because he was denying my Italian heritage and said that he refused to write a name that was so clearly an offensive joke. This young man was one of the rudest workers I've ever interacted with, not to mention his abhorrent personal hygiene. When I walked to the counter I had to hold back from stepping away from the foul rank that surrounded him, I could clearly see that there was dirt on his hands which is beyond disgusting. The only way that I can think to describe him is as Pigpen from Charlie Brown. To top it all of when I received my smoothie I was dreadfully met with the surprise of finding one of his curly brown hairs inside of my smoothie. This interaction has completely turned me away from stepping inside another Smoothie King for the rest of my life. I hope that this review can help steer people away from this ghastly smoothie joint and direct their business to the far superior Tropical Smoothie. read more
