Lots of flavors and add-on options! The large size is really large! While it is pricey, it is packed full of fresh ingredients. It will fill you up and keep you energized. Very clean and inviting place. Staff is helpful and friendly. We chose the immune booster and added in some greens for extra fiber (kale, spinach) and protein powder. Super delicious! read more

I created a scheduled delivery order at 9:11. It was supposed to be here at 12. I never received it so I called the store. Their interface said that my order had been completed so I requested a refund. They ensured me that it was on the way and so I waited another hour. Remained nowhere to be found; I called back the store and was told that once it leaves their premises it's no longer their problem. As this is a business being run for the sake of customers happiness I'm absolutely appalled. They stole my money without giving me what I ordered or any sort of useful assistance. Definitely do not recommend. I find this especially upsetting as it's the only smoothie king in Charlottesville. I'll definitely be turning to local businesses instead from now on. Turning away from problems created by a delivery company YOU guys chose to partner with is a gross shirking of responsibility. read more

Came here with a coupon, on a Sunday evening and my husband and I each got a smoothie. Our smoothies were tasty, but as far as corporate chain smoothies go, I think I prefer the menu selection at Tropical Smoothie. However, Smoothie King seems to emphasize or specialize in work out enhancing/fitness-focused/weight loss-related supplements and ingredients in their smoothie recipes, so if that is something you're interested in, maybe check them out. Below I will spell out the poor customer service we witnessed, and why I can't give this location higher than 3 stars: There were a couple people in the store, but both had already ordered and there smoothies were being made, so as soon as we had decided what we wanted from the menu, we were able to order. However, I noticed that one of the employees was working on the other smoothies, but really just talking with one of the customers, not multi-tasking, so by the time she actually began with the smoothies those folks had been waiting several minutes, and the other person behind the bar seemed intent on other tasks, so after taking our order the second employee went back to those tasks and left the co-worker to make all four smoothies now. We were probably waiting about 10 minutes. Which isn't crazy, except, as I said, it wasn't super busy, just inefficient. In that 10 minute wait time, while we were watching the employee chat and make smoothies slowly while the other did something else (which I realized to be closing tasks) it was still about 10 minutes until closing, and a guest walked in and the employee said, "we're getting ready to close" and the confused customer looked at her watch and the open door and the other customers inside and asked if she could still order and the employee then grudgingly went to the register (Way to make a customer feel very unwanted). Another minute later another man walked in, and the employee this time said "we're closing, and we can't take any more smoothie orders" and this man was less forgiving, rightfully shocked and gave them the time, and the employee just said, "sorry we are closing." I was so shocked, I've worked several customer service and food service jobs, and I know there was never a time where my boss or manager would be okay with turning people away before the actual closing time. I was thankful they didn't turn us away though we only arrived a few minutes prior. It felt very wrong and weird, and I left with a bad feeling about the place. But again, it was only two employees, and hopefully this sort of action isn't allowed to happen regularly. read more

This location is usually pretty crowded but that's not really their fault. The staff that works there is always super nice, parking can be a problem and some people on barracks are just rude when you try to park. Again it's just a location thing. The two girls that work there are super nice and very fast. I got here pretty often and always order the pineapple surf and am never disappointed. I like tropical smoothie as well but I think these guys have a wider selection, and focus more on health food. Overall I like this location and will continue to come back. read more

Is there a negative rating? My kids asked for Smoothie King because they love those smoothies the best. There was only one guy running things at the Barracks location so I made sure to add a tip when I paid for our 3 smoothies. While we waited outside, a series of smoothies went out the door that belonged to folks behind us in line, so I went in to let him know we hadn't left, that we were just outside. The response I got? How many f-bombs can you fit into one sentence? He was upset that he was the only one working there and if I didn't want to be patient then I could have my money back. I'm paraphrasing to be polite. There was another customer in there with young children, too. Wow. So I said, "Yeah, I'll have my money back please." Never again. If I owned this franchise, I would want to know. Better to shut your doors for a day than hire toxic people who drive your customers away forever. read more

After seeing a BOGO deal on the Hooked app, my friend and I came to this Smoothie King on a Saturday evening. Thankfully, there was no line and the cashier was happy to accept the deal. I got a Berry Blast and my friend got the Angel Food, and we were both content with the amount of smoothie we got and the flavor. I haven't been to a Smoothie King in years, so it's interesting to see its transformation from a smoothie store to a health and wellness store. Naturally, however, I came here for the smoothie, which ultimately was very okay. The bigger issue was the deafening music. Went to Smoothie King today. Ordered my usual Slim-N-Trim Chocolate smoothie, 32 oz. The woman behind the counter put so much ice into it that it fit into a 40 oz. The smoothie was chewy due to the high ice content -- there were tiny ice rocks. It tasted like watered down chocolate. Very disappointing. read more

I normally don't write reviews but I have to say the smoothie king is absolutely filthy. I use the restroom and though there was change underneath the sink no one would pick it up because it was absolutely disgusting. This caused me to look around the regular store and there is dirt and grime all over the floor. I then looked behind The check out area into where they make the shakes and I swear there was mold growing at the bottom of the blender cups. A woman did rinse them out with hot water but it was still pretty gross And there wasn't any soap used in cleaning out the blender cup. I really think the place needs to be inspected and cleaned with soap and water at the very least. Definitely room for improvement. read more

Person I was ordering from was incredibly rude. I've been to smoothie king once before so I'm not familiar with their menu. I asked if I could get something specific and she wouldn't make it she just suggested I get something on menu and add an item to it. I was fine with that and said I just didn't want the protein. I forgot that the item I ordered didn't have protein in it and when I said that she corrected me in a rude way saying it didn't have any protein in it. She purposely made me feel stupid. She also did not have her hair tied back at all and I don't believe she was wearing gloves. read more

This sanitation at this location in Charlottesville, Va is terrible. I was there two days ago and a worker who was sitting in her car when I pulled up literally just walked in and proceeded to make my smoothie without even washing her hands and to top it off, her hands were visibly dirty. Secondly, the time before this that I came to this location, there was a young man w/ long hair working the smoothie section w/o a hair net on. When my smoothie was handed to me, there was a piece of hair attached to my cup. These are not the only instances that I've experienced at this location but are the most outstanding. These instances alone make me question what the sanitation is truly like at this location and who holds the employees accountable. Lastly, prior to posting this, I saw another post from 8 months ago complaining of the same issue. It's a shame that this still hasn't been addressed. read more

I stopped in here on one HOT afternoon after having not really eaten anything all day. I had never been to a Smoothie King before but I really liked it! I saw that the Matcha Tango smoothie was a meal replacement so I decided to get that. The employee recommended that I get it with mango so I did and it was delicious! This flavor was so delicious that when my friend picked up smoothies for us later in the week, I requested this same exact drink. Think food poisoning, employees who don't care, aren't friendly and just want to go home for the evening. I have visited twice in the last month. Both visits were bad. The first visit the smoothies were okay but they lied to me about their rewards program. I signed in on the touch pad at the check out even though the redhead said it doesn't work. I got a text after I left saying I got a $2 off my first order. Too late. Then last night I ordered the pineapple mango without yogurt. Well I got the opposite. It was a cup of yogurt. I'm lactose intolerant BTW. No fruit and then bonus was little slivers of what looked and felt like plastic. Gross! My boyfriend and I live nearby and have visited this Smoothie King frequently for about 2 years now because we enjoy the smoothies. We have had multiple poor experiences with customer service (slow, employees not knowing how to ring up or make the smoothies, employees not knowing about coupons) but after the experience we had this evening, we have decided we will not be returning. It is evident that the employees lack training and knowledge about the products. As expensive as Smoothie King is, I expect quality products and quality service, and you do not get that here. read more

I like a liquid lunch. The smothies are great.. they seem to be able to keep to the same standard on a regular basis. My only complaint is the staff changes constantly and the level of service varies considerably.
