They were there instantly when we got there which was because we didn't have to wait too long. I had my massage and it was really good. I loved the therapist that I worked with and she was great. After my massage was over, I met back up with my SIL and sister. My sister seemed kind of unhappy and when I asked why, she said that she had booked her treatment for cupping and an intense massage but that isn't what she got. She didn't want to make a big deal about it. My SIL eventually went to the front desk and after awhile got it sorted out that they had a system error in their booking. They could still offer my sister the cupping but we'd have to wait a bit to do it. It was good that she was able to do the cupping but disappointing that her relaxing had to be disrupted and we ended up being there longer than anticipated and had to move some plans around. We were a little confused about how the tv worked since it seemed that other guests were signed in to the streaming platforms, but that was likely user error. Perhaps a little note about logging in to streaming services next to the TV might be useful for others in the future. We were also able to access live channels. The room was clean, and had a microwave and mini fridge for our leftovers after eating out or for small grocery items from CalMart. The location is great and a short walk to downtown Calistoga. We were provided with robes at check in which were useful for the hot tubs and pools. There are two mineral water hot tubs of different temperatures and one large mineral pool for swimming. There are showers and changing rooms available in the pool area as well. They provided bicycles and helmets that we could take to ride during the desk hours. We would definitely stay here again.

We arrived in Calistoga and checked into the hotel and spa. While a few of us checked in for our massages, my daughter and partner checked into our room. The massages were wonderful, we were very relaxed and went back to the room to change to swimwear. Note: The flavored waters near the spa are delicious, try them all. Our room was a really nice renovated King Suite, that also has a Queen bedroom attached. A little kitchen area, fridge sink and table, then the restroom area with added storage and seating. The pool is amazing, the water is so fresh and relaxing. The two hot tubs are heated to separate temperatures, it was just so nice to spend time going there. I found the early morning swim to be the best way to start my day. On my departure day, I decided to try a mud-bath treatment with my sister and although it was not my first time, I realized that mud baths are just not my thing. Staff was great, the spa was fantastic, hotel and pool were so relaxing. I would definitely book another weekend at the Golden Haven and recommend you treat yourself too.

I also asked about adding on the Bath House ($45 for guests enjoying day-of services) and was told there was availability. On Mondays, it's women only and clothing optional. Per the website, they can accommodate up to 20 ladies. After visiting the Bath House, I would say that feels a bit tight as the space is on the smaller side. Bring a towel if you can. Towel rentals are $8. The Bath House includes 3 private soaking tubs (curtain for privacy), 2 saunas (infrared and dry), 2 cold water plunge tubs, 2 showers, and a heated BioMat. I spent a few hours rotating through all of the amenities. It was a quiet day which made it extra relaxing because there were very few guests. Guests are expected to drain and clean the tubs after use. There are directions posted on the walls. This is not the spa's fault, but I was a bit bummed when I went to try the copper cold plunge tub and found it full of used water. I ended up having to drain and clean it twice since I wanted to clean it after I used it too. The saunas are small. Each sauna can fit 1 person comfortably. Perhaps 2 if you don't mind getting cozy? The BioMat allowed me to take a short nap. Theres small bumps and heat for a gentle amount of pressure. I enjoyed both of the saunas. The steam room felt too stuffy for me personally. The private soaking tub was relaxing. You can adjust the water temperature and I was able to add the bath salts that the front desk staff gave me complimentary. There is a 45 min time limit so that everyone has a chance to use the private soaking tubs. Again, this is more enjoyable when there are less guests so you don't feel rushed. Drinking water and cups are provided. I'd say it's worth $45 but after spending a few hours I could see myself getting bored. The Bliss Signature Massage 90 minutes was the highlight of my spa experience. Melody was my massage therapist. I'm so glad I paid more to get 90 minutes instead of 60. Melody asked me which parts of my body I wanted to focus on and asked if I was okay if she incorporated gua sha into the massage. I've never had a massage therapist do that before but I really liked it! The gua sha helped to target areas of tension in my shoulders. She warned me that I would have a few marks on my back, and they're already starting to fade away. I felt so relaxed after. When it came time to pay, the receptionist told me the total and I went on with my day. When I finally looked at the itemized receipt that was emailed to me, I noticed I was charged incorrectly. I called the spa and the receptionist was apologetic and promised me she would refund me the difference the next day. I checked my credit card statement and I see the refund is processing. As she continued to check in the customer in front of me, and I was still waiting a few feet back from the desk, another customer entered the front door. She cut right in front of me, approached the front desk directly and the staff person proceeded to check her in for her facial in front of me. It was a bit upsetting because the staff noticed and went ahead and helped her before me, instead of addressing the behavior of her cutting in front of the line! I found it to be very rude of the customer and poor service by the staff to allow that. It wasn't a great start to my spa day. The cedar enzyme bath is a highlight, so relaxing with the tea ritual, beautiful garden views, and warm heat generated from the wood shavings (cedar, Douglas fir and rice hulls). It is a very unique experience. My only discomfort on this visit was that a fly was buzzing around the room while I was in the bath and kept landing on my face while I was buried and I couldn't wipe or swoosh it away whenever it landed on me. It was uncomfortable and a test of my mind to focus on the bath and not on the fly landing on me repeatedly during the 20 minute experience. I also got a facial on this same visit. Asha was gentle and had good technique. The towels used were a bit rough on my face despite her gentle and soothing touch, likely they need replacing .

Reminds me of some East Coast resort from way back. One big pool surrounded by lounge chairs. I wasn't aware that the water would be WARM. What a wonderful surprise! There were no more than 10 people at the pool when I was there, so it was so, so relaxing. Children are allowed, but there is also another area with a smaller pool that is adults only. You can order food and drinks pool side and I chose to do exactly that. Had a healthy buddha bowl for lunch and a soda. Once the time for my first service had arrived, I was thoroughly relaxed and ready to get pampered. The facial was ok, nothing to fancy. The mud bath was something else though. Would do that again in a heart beat. It's all a bit rustic, but the ladies who work there are so sweet and the warm mud is so relaxing. You only stay in the mud for 15 minutes or so. Then off you go to shower and heat up even more in the sauna. Afterwards, there is a nice relaxing mineral bath in a clawfoot tub and a nap in a separate pod. And lots and lots of lemon and cucumber water! I opted to relax a bit by the buddha pond afterwards, but changed back to the big pool quickly after I was eaten alive by some very aggressive ants.

Unfortunately, the hotel provided very little assistance in resolving the issue. My wife's AirPods were inside the luggage, and we were eventually able to use Find My to trace the luggage to another room on the property. Despite this, we were unable to get meaningful assistance from reception and ultimately had to contact the Calistoga Police Department for help. After nearly an hour and a half, we finally recovered our luggage while police officers were present at the property. What made the situation particularly frustrating was that the luggage had been delivered to the wrong room by the hotel staff in the first place. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience, particularly because the initial response from the hotel was to deny responsibility and blame the taxi rather than actively helping us locate our luggage.
