Cody from smooth and fair painting is a liar and a thief. He took our $1,800 deposit and left the state. He gave us a phone number for another painter but that painter wouldn't do the work for the amount Cody quoted us. We went with the new painter and asked Cody to give our deposit to the new painter or return it to us. He did pay $600 back but when he seen my husbands bad review he told us to take it down or he wasn't going to pay us the other $1,200. He has taken deposits from several people and didn't do the work or pay them back either. DO NOT HIRE THIS CON MAN!! Cody I know you will read this and wish you the life you deserve. POS! He took a 2000$ non refundable deposit from me back in February of 24. And told me job be done in May or June. Countless unanswered phone calls and text we are now middle of August. He tells me he has to sell the job off to another contractor etc. Ok... but as things come out He pocketed my 2k and tellin me I need to pay him yet another 1k and the subbed contractor 5k for a job he bid 8k for. Thankfully this subbed contractor is aware and understanding and a reasonable person and isn't gonna let the 3k finder fee bother him and is gonna proceed to do the job fully. But I refuse to pay original guy Cody from smooth and fair painter another 1k upon completion. I'm giving it to the man doin the work. Cody also did this to over 5 other home owners and wants to collect more money upon completion as well as keep their deposits while expecting this subbed contractor to do the same job for peanuts. But this new subbed guy is on Parr and stellar so far. 6 months of waiting n pushing back n lack of communication while he's running around with 2k of my hard earned money.... sorry. Bad business. Not to mention I've had to push back concrete guys, gutter guys, tree removal guys etc. As the house being painted was to be done soonest to accommodate others accordingly and now we in mid August with lil to no time left of the season. I will never pay a contractor a deposit. They'll all tell u the reason they want it is becuz they've had so many people book them n back out last minute etc. But what about us working class homeowners who trust our money in ur hands and you Welch on us???
