Another customer approached, and he allowed the other person to enter the humidor. He kept looking at me as I walked towards the back as if to stop me. I asked if there was a problem or if he was closing the area. He looked at a picture of a woman on the door and then back at me. It was then I understood. I explained that she was not me, but he still seemed concerned. I showed him my ID, but he still appeared uneasy. I was mortified that I was being accused of being a shoplifter. I looked nothing like the picture, except that we both are black, and my skin is much darker. I am also a registered patron. During all the months going in there, this has never been a problem. I have decided never to go back there. All my friends and family, including veterans, deserve better humiliation with no apology.
