Drove 15 min to get to this store. Arrived at 9:06pm and they said they were closed. Their website said they close at 9:30.

Just had lunch at White Horse Liquors--yes, the liquor store--and was pleasantly surprised by the…read moredeli inside. It has a bit of a hip, modern feel with a thoughtfully curated menu. I ordered the Casanova: Prosciutto di Parma, fresh mozzarella, house-made pesto, roasted red peppers, and arugula on a freshly baked French roll. I went with it cold, which I think is the right call, though I'd be interested in trying it lightly toasted next time. The sandwich was outstanding. You can genuinely taste the freshness of the ingredients--from the bread to the mozzarella and crisp arugula. Simple, well-executed, and very satisfying. 5/5. Absolutely worth a stop--and while you're there, you might as well grab a good bottle of bourbon on the way out.

It was easy to find what I needed, and the layout makes browsing simple even if you're short on time. I just wish they sold the craft beer as singles without having to get a whole 4 pack. I didn't get a chance to fully explore (and just realized they apparently have a food/market section too, which I totally missed), but based on this visit I'd definitely come back if I'm ever in the area again when I have more time to look around. Overall, a good spot with a great wide selection.

I emailed the owner to set up an appointment two weeks before I wanted to visit, and the owner…read moreFrank's reply was "please call". I did, and left a message giving my cell phone number. When I didn't hear back, I replied to his email and asked if my appointment was on or not. His reply: "I called the number you left twice there was no response. please be more careful with your message so that I don't waste my time with no response." Offputting. I responded that it is impossible that there was no response as cell phones go to voicemail, and asked once again if my appointment was on for the next day. His reply: "I called the number you left twice and you did not answer! ... you may have given me the wrong number! you only stated it once!" I still did not have a confirmation, but went anyway. We pulled up to his ramshackle home and he was cutting wood out front. I asked where we should park (circular driveway filled with randomly parked vehicles) and Frank said (without even saying hello), "We haven't met yet. If you want a stamp for your passport, I'll do that as a courtesy. Now if you want to learn about wine, that's another story". I was so dumbfounded that he did NOT want my business I took the stamp and then moved on to happier wineries further south. How this guy is still in business, between his rude demeanor and $25 tastings, is beyond me. I see that other Yelpers agree. Advice: stop in and get a passport stamp, without giving this jerk your business or your time.

Ok, first. $25 per person for a tasting? Is it made of gold and are angels going to pour it from heaven?!? Second. I just called and already don't want to visit. I am all about supporting local business and I always up for a nice glass of wine, but I haven't been there yet and the phone conversation alone left a bad taste in my mouth. Getting my passport stamped and moving on!
