It's my local Smith's. The self checkout is great and Mike is very helpful. If you get in Lee's line it can be like a soup Nazi episode of Sinefield. The woman two people behind us commented to my wife in Spanish about the lack of dividers in this lane and how there were a plethora on the adjacent closed lane. When I got to the front I went to alleviate the customers problem and advised Lee of my intention which initiated a lecture from the cashier on how this was his lane and he will run it as he sees fit and I should relax. It's dirty and gross Saw a man open a rotisserie chicken and take pieces of meat off chicken and eat them and put chicken back. Have people always fighting in there. It's almost unfair to review this place as it's just so poorly run and operated. Almost unfair. Let's See: * Slow customer line - Get there early and be prepared to wait. Apparently watching a video on your phone while you're waiting annoys them although not enough to make them work faster. * " The customer always steals" seems to be their motto as it's certainly how they act. * They cannot seem to keep carts inside of the building - Plenty of baggers and customer service guys...but no carts. * They don't like questions. * "Please" and "thank you" are not in their vocabularies. I used to work here in the pharmacy from November of 2022 until September of 2023. This is by far the worst Smith's in town to shop and work. Below are the reasons why and the pros and cons of this store. The Cons: 1. Long Checkout Lines: they never have all of the regular checkout lines open and available with staff available to checkout customers. 2. Long Self Checkout Lines: The self checkout lines are always long especially the first line when you walk inside in the front of the store. The line goes all the way to the back of the store and covers the entire aisle everyday. 3. Outdated and Marked Down Deli and Meat Products: Everyday especially in the morning, there are so many items in the Deli and Meat section that end up being marked down. I wouldn't trust the freshness of these products at all. 4. High Theft and Shoplifting: People steal products from the store constantly. Someone always runs out of the Emergency Exit next to the pharmacy on a daily basis. 5. Long Money Service Line: The line is always long and runs slow all of the time. 6. A Very Busy Pharmacy: This pharmacy is always nonstop busy. There's a hospital nearby, most of the customers do not speak English and do not have insurance. The Pros: Honestly I do not see any pros shopping at this store. My sympathies for the people who live in the neighborhood because there are not a lot of options as far as stores and restaurants to go to compared to other areas in town such as Centennial, Henderson, and Summerlin. Poor customer service. Needed to use rest room, manager "Michael E" mistook me for one of his EBT customers and rudely said "Go stand by the door". I proceeded to stand there and no one came, so I went back to ask him if he was going to call someone to open the coded door. I asked if he could call someone, he said no. The grocery store is ok but don't try to use their Western Union service. I tried and the person working it is terrible. She asked me for the name I was sending the money to and I hesitated a bit because I was looking for it on my phone. She said I think you are a scammer and very rudely said no and walked away. I did not deserve that kind of treatment. All I was trying to do was send a friend in trouble some money. If she worked for me I would have fired her on the spot. This is about the smiths bakery. DO NOT EVER ORDER FROM THEM! They tried to make me come in a pay a day early for a cake, saying it's their store policy, and yet, on my receipt it says that I pay up at the time of pick up of the cake. They called me and explained that I needed to pay a day early which I couldn't do in the first place due to my work hours, also, I'm not paying a day in advanced for a cake that I don't know how it looks. Unfortunately this store is always having a crowd of people in there that lice to fight but unfortunate the store management is doing nothing about it. I was there shopping with my husband and paying for our groceries when we heard an argument at self checkout. It happens it was between a customer and one of the employees. The argument escalated even though there was a manager there. Another cashier had to leave her register to go grab the other employee who was arguing with the customer to de escalate the situation. By this time people walked out of the store fearing the situation was going to get worse another cashier crying, and other customers feeling unsafe. If my employee acted the way the Smiths employee did she would have been pulled off the floor right away. As a manager I would have not just stood th I called corporate and explained the situation and spoke with the manager but for some reason this store can not handle the fighting in the store. Every time I shop here I am being followed around the store by their plain clothes loss prevention staff. If I stay in one isle too long, one of them shows up with no cart, no groceries, pretending to shop right next to me and I hear them reporting my movements to someone talking into an earpiece. And most times when I am checking out at the self checkout, the checkout machine flags me and I have to wait for an associate to come watch the footage and clear my machine so I can pay. I am just trying to shop and this has happened just about every time I go to this location at 2255 N. Las Vegas Blvd. I feel I am being harassed and it is not an enjoyable experience to say the least. I have been shopping at this location for about 3 years, and it has made me consider not wanting to shop at this location anymore, or at Smith's entirely. I would highly recommend a change in loss prevention management, as the current tactics being used here are upsetting and quite frankly, disturbing. I understand this location is in a low income area and they have a lot of issues with theft, but being followed around the store by their staff actively monitoring my movements is unsatisfactory. Gotta day that store isn't no in a great neighborhood but they keeep it clean, everyone seemed friendly. A manager saw me saaying they had hidden thhe bread, I was joining, and he made sure I was aimed on the right direction. The only drawback would be that they have a large area locked up, but again, the area warrants that. The checker we had was SO SLOW! She didn't care either. Earlier this year I was at Smiths grocery store on Skye Canyon in North Los Vegas. I was driving an Enterprise rental car and it was a very windy day as anyone who lives close will verify. When I got back to the store a shopping card had seriously damaged the drivers side wing mirror. The cart had been blown into the cart. I asked store management if they had any video and no one responded. When I returned hope i showed the damage to my neighbor. To my surprise he said " I saw that happen but did know it was you care" Long story short Smiths has declined responsibility, " we dont control the weather" I agree but you do react to it with things like mats at the entrances when it rains. I have been going to this location for years. The staff has almost always been super friendly to me and helpful. Even the pharmacy technician knows me by name and always smiles when I come in. I've maybe had a couple of times when I had to return an item for different reasons but they have taken it back with no questions asked. They seem to want to make their customers happy and provide great customer service. The only thing I dislike is how most of the stores including this one have now made a separate check out for the beauty department and baby items but it's understandable unfortunately. read more

Follow up trip to Smith's to grab a Rx for my son. As we walked in we walked right into the middle of a fight taking place. Right by the self check out stands I witnessed a guy get punched in the head by another guy, accusing the other guy of having his money and not wanting to give it to him. What I heard next from a store associate was to let them continue fighting their way out of the store and to call 911. At least now you know I wasn't exaggerating when I wrote my first review about the stuff that goes on at this location. I mean....oh my hoodness! I don't understand why just because the part of town is not a "rich" part of town, why the employees and even managers don't give a shit about their food quality, or customer service ! The lines are wrapped around the store alllll the damn time with 2 registers open and only self checkout, and no one wants to open more registers ! They want to regulate how many people are in a registered line, but constantly let people with 50+ items, in 15 item or less lines or self checkout ! It doesn't make sense ! Food is ALWAYS expired! ALWAYS !! Today we were kicked out of line because we didn't have a basket or 10 items, but we did have 10 items ! Just to watch the same person who kicked us out of line, let 2 other women in with only 3-5 items each, and NO basket ! It's a damn joke at this store ! We complain and not one single manager gave a shit about what we had to say and ignored us, then security tried to kick US out for getting upset !! This is just ridiculous ! The cashier told us "there are 27 other stores to go to" and he was right about that ! The staff, for the most part, are distant and honestly pretty rude. For no reason should you have AirPods in while working checkout . Sure, I can see when a teenager working cart duties should be able to here and there, but that's it. In the isle next to us, the woman refused an elderly man with a service dog and ONE item, rudely repeating that she was closing as soon as she finished with the current customer. I understand we all are anxious to get back home after a long day of work, but that was so unnecessary and showed terrible customer experience. It is never that serious where you repeatedly tell a person of that age and position, "no, I'm closing, you have to go to the other line", especially in such a mean tone. This smiths location is completely out of control. I had the unfortunate encounter with one of their cashier clerks named "Quinton/Quentin". He thought it was a good idea to charge me a dollar for each individual green onion even though it's a bulk item. To make matters worse there was a reduced priced items that he was trying to charge me at full price. He also proceeded to say I was attempting to argue with him when I simply brought it to his attention and he made a huge fuss like I was inconveniencing him to fix his errors. I told him to go please check for himself if he didn't believe me. For whatever reason he didn't comprehend my simple solution and also decided to call me out of my name and use profanity. By the time his manager came over he played victim and I was already riled up and overreacted (could be that I'm 7 months pregnant and just spent an hour getting my groceries to be disrespected but hey lol). As his manger was speaking to me he continued giving dirty looks behind her back further trying to provoke me. From the beginning his attitude was terrible and if he hates his job so much he needs to find a new one. It's not fair to paying customers to be treated poorly for his own personal problems. I USED to go to this store on a daily basis....until one day while getting gas and there was a wind storm going on, a pipe on top of the gas pump came lose and busted my back window and dented and scratched my car! This happened March 30th....three months later my car is still damaged. Smiths bad business as well as Kroger. I wish i could rate it lower. So there aren't a lot of options as far as decent grocery stores in the hood. This place is great for locals who live in the area and don't have transportation options. I would much rather go here than Von's or Walmart. They have a great selection of items (even some of the less common ones) and their prices are fair. I see a lot of reviews based on the condition of the bathroom, but I don't ever use the bathroom here so I can't comment on that. But it IS a grocery store... EXPENSIVE GROCERY STORE!!!! I came in for meats to bbq. The selection was small. They didn't have any chicken wings. They only had 1 pack of spare ribs. No filet steaks. Everything seemed picked over maybe it was because it was 2 days after Thanksgiving. But EVERYTHING was extremely overpriced to me. I'm from Chicago and our grocery items are much cheaper. They do have a clearance isle for meats which was nice and I found some deals there. Although my Tbone steaks from that section had a funny smell. The rest of the meats were great.
