A loved one passed in August of 2021 and we were referred to Smith Mortuary where we purchased a head stone in September of 2021. We were told it would takes long as March or February of 2022 to get all the materials in. My instructions to them was whenever they made the head stone to call me so that my family could be out there when they set it. After a whole year passed still the headstone wasn't ready as I had called repeatedly over the months on its status but always got excuses from they only had temporary help to it was too wet outside and many more all the while communicating that we needed to be notified so we could meet them out there when they set the headstone. In November of 2022 I called on a Friday asking the status for the headstone only to be told it had been set out the day before. Angry, I asked why hadn't I been informed like I repeatedly told the office manager when they were going to set the headstone? Then naturally gave one of her many excuses over the year in that she was off that day and told them to set it in place without informing the family. So because of her we never got to see the setting of the headstone like we told her. Then me not believing her on the date she told me of the headstone setting I called the cemetery to see when the headstone had been set, only to be told that it hadn't been set on Thursday as the office manager said but had been set earlier in the week on Monday or Tuesday. I went to Smith Mortuary within two days of my mother's funeral to see about purchasing her a tombstone. We were immediately greeted with smiles and we were shown the types of stones available and allowed to look at a variety of designs. We were even allowed to customize the stone with small details that my mother would have liked, all at a very beautiful and at an affordable price. The staff was super courteous and talked to us like we were old friends. We shared stores of family and great memories with one another; it was a very comforting experience. The staff was very professional and courteous, but what got me was their humanity... through this entire experience... they made me feel like they knew me and my mother. read more

I went to Smith Mortuary over a year ago, I purchase a tomb stone from them the stone came back wrong information on it. They put my mother in laws birth date on my fathers tomb stone and my grandmothers name was spelled incorrect, I should have known not to do business with them after the fiasco we had with getting my mother in laws head stone corrected. They totally botched her stone up as well. Well months later still nothing has been done. The only communication comes from me calling and emailing Smith Mortuary. Jocelyn Kersh lacks the empty and compassion that is needed to do this job effectively, Her customer service and follow up is ridiculous and her office is totally unorganized to say the least, this is probably why she always say let me find it and get back to you. I want to warn anyone that is in need of final arrangements to GO SOMEWHERE ELSE, don't walk run. I am in the process of seeking legal presentation because I am now told I need to pay an additional $250 to have the stone corrected due to their mistakes, we did not pay anything additional for my mother in law and I do not feel I should be charged because Joyce dropped the ball and continues to drop the ball with unprofessionalism, lack of customer service and follow up.
