However, Jake makes a phenomenal margarita and is a great ambassador for HHCC. Grayson is also a great ambassador and delivers omelets with great care. Finally, we haven't met him, but the Head Chef Clay Williams, is clearly exceptionally talented. He doesn't just deliver a great dining experience, he delivers delight. His hummus is excellent; the pasta dish we had was quite perfect (which is hard with bow tie pasta - it's almost always too oily). The bbq chicken wrap and fries were simply delicious. With the variety that we ordered, we feel pretty confident we have an understanding of the Chef's expertise. For starters, the three directors I coordinate with to put our tournament together, Jordan, Maliah, and Matt, are excellent to work with. They are extremely professional and relate to their clients on a human level. They always demonstrate tireless flexibility in meeting our needs. Additionally, the prices to host our event through them have been reasonable. As for the facility, it is ideal for our fundraiser with its scenic views and a challenging, yet fun, golf course that all of our donors enjoy. Another area of praise to be given is the catering. The lunches they prepare are simply delicious. Some popular items are the roast-beef sandwiches, chicken ciabatta sandwiches, caesar salads, and cobb salads. So many of my golfers have praised their food selections. And so, after struggling to find a new country club that we can rely on, it has been a breath of fresh air to use Hunting Hills Country Club for our fundraising needs.

This is a private, members-only club situated on the upper levels of Virginia Tech's Lane Stadium…read more During Graduation Week, they open their Club for brunch and dinner reservations. The only way to contact them is by email. It literally took me weeks and some emails to get a reply back. I was finally able to lock in our brunch reservations about 2 weeks before our trip. The University Club has you sign an event contract and pay the full amount for the brunch or dinner in 4 payments prior to your reservation. The price was about $55/person + service fees, tax. Drinks, both soda and alcohol, are not included in the brunch price. With tip, it came out to about $75/person. The Club itself has a separate entrance inside the Stadium and you take an elevator up. As soon as you got out of the elevator, they had a step-and-repeat with decorations for families to take pictures before or after your event. The Club is quite spacious and modern. There were stadium seats in front of the large windows overlooking the football field for members to watch the game while enjoying the Club's amenities. The Graduation Brunch was buffet-style with salad, shrimp cocktail, potato salad, chicken and a prime rib carving station. All the staff there were very friendly and helpful, they went above & beyond to make our day special. I pre-ordered personalized wine bottles which were to be served during brunch but since we were driving back to the airport and others driving to D.C., I asked them if we could take them with us. Our server put them in white gift bags with balloons attached which really added a nice touch! The food was fine, nothing spectacular. But it's worth going through the trouble to go for Graduation celebration. They also offered a pre-order flower arrangements or VT cookies but I didn't get them. I gave them 4 stars instead of 5 only because how difficult it was to get a reservation. However, keep in mind that the members have priority booking and having thousands of students graduating over the course of 3 days make things very difficult. Considering this was also our first time to Rocky Mount the map was very helpful. The reason for only giving a 3 star rating was because of the lack of actual moonshine. Though I have never been to a moonshine festival before I had hoped that there would be actual moonshine to purchase to take home and moonshine distillers to talk with. This was not the case. The only place that had moonshine available at the festival during the day was at the Bootleggers Cafe. You could purchase a flight of 4 moonshine cocktails for $8. There was a night time ticketed event called Shine and Dine that we did not attend where according to the website you could "Enjoy an enchanted evening with a moonshine and local foods tasting under the stars. Sample fantastic "shines" in several flavors from local and state distilleries along with a selection of foods and delicious desserts prepared by local chefs". I just wish this option was also available during the day. The good: 1) Pretty well organized 2) The event is free (free entertainment and displays) 3) They provided shuttle service & ample parking lots around town 4) They had a kids zone (not sure whats in there since we don't have kids) So what could make this a 5 star event you ask? Here are a few ideas: 1) Blocking the street off to traffic 2) Having a distillers/tasting area during the daytime 3) Getting more vendor booths...specifically Virginia artists/crafts men - especially the Franklin County Moonshine distillers (not sure what the ABC laws are regarding this) Though this event was not quite what I had imagined, it was not all that far off. It just needs times for the word to spread and for it to grow into the larger, bolder event it was meant to be.
