I hoped for great care when going to Dr. Sands in December. Unfortunately his office staff ruined…read moreany desire to return. The 24 year Front Desk person leaving in a month in January had already essentially left. She did not return phone messages asking when I could be seen, then wouldn't verify my insurance (this was my responsibility) so my insurance had to call her etc. She never billed the insurance for our visits (happened 2 months after she left) and failed to get back to me about estimates for work needed. I had to call multiple times only to hear that she'd call back but never did. The new staff was not any better - always reminding me they are new and taking 2 months and multiple submissions to my insurance to get work approved. They always claimed they were new or they'd spent alot of time on things or it was my insurance holding things up. Insurance told me they were submitting incomplete paperwork or resubmitting approvals (starts the clock over) rather than just submitting the missing requested items. They also couldn't decide what work I needed done. We went from 5 cavities (direct from Dr. Sands) to 7 and ultimately 10 (with varying teeth involved). The tooth that needed the root canal changed also several times from left to right/top to bottom. Twice I was told it was for a 2 teeth I don't even have. I spoke with Dr. Sands through the after hours line one morning and he seemed anxious to resolve but...He called me back later that day but blamed everything on insurance. When I told him that his staff resubmits approvals rather than just providing missing items and does so via US mail instead of electronically (I had been told this several times by his staff and insurance) he said not true. He told me he'd call me back but never did and my later requests to his staff that he call me didn't happen either. His staff finally sent a text admitting that they had messed up on something but got it corrected and I just need to wait 10-15 business days for an approval. They happily contacted me to say the approval complete (3 months after my first appt) and I would just have to pay 30% for those 10 cavities. There was no way I was going back there. I'm sure they would have gladly collected money for work that wasn't needed. Another reviewer commented about being told work was needed when it wasn't. The fact that the location of work needed varied from day to day and that they doubled the number of cavities I was told were needed was very concerning.

About a year ago, I had a crown come loose. I went to Dr. Bray who was recommended by a friend. (…read moreMy usual dentist is in California.) He said that he could not reattach and I needed a bridge. He then proceeded to remove the adjacent 2 crowns with a whole lot of tugging and pulling. He then took impressions for the temporary and new bridge. I was scheduled for the new bridge installation, but when I got there they said that it was shipped to wrong address. So, rescheduled 10 days later. In the meantime the temporary broke loose. When I went to get it reattached he said that one of the attachment teeth was broken and that he would have to extract the tooth - which he did. That meant that a new bridge had to be made. Another several weeks and added expense for the different bridge. After it was put in, a few days later, the next crown over came out and had to be replaced. It was my conjecture, although at this point I cannot prove , that all of the wrestling with the crown removal and tooth extraction caused the extra damages. I have not been happy with the feel of all the new stuff in my mouth as well as it "felt unstable". Let alone the several months that it took. Well, sure enough, 2 days ago the whole bridge loosened. I went to see a different dentist and I mentioned that I was upset - and from just a quick look, he said that he would be too. He agreed that it was poorly done. And that the whole thing should be replaced. When I got home, I called my California dentist who then got the X-rays from the new dentist and agreed that everything should be replaced. Bray charged me THOUSANDS (6.6) of dollars and now I have to go through another round of work and charges.
