If life were a poker game, sometimes we're dealt with a bad hand. And, when that happens, there…read moredoesn't seem to be much we can do to change the fate of the game in which we're playing:
Exactly 12 years ago (to the day I took this photo of our final court date), I met my now ex-husband...Funny, how life works. Some would say it's a matter of choice-- others might say it may be a karmic lesson-- either way, I'm glad it's finally over; Thank you, Mitchell!
For those of you in search of the right attorney to take you through a major life decision (one filled with many emotions)-- you might've stumbled upon some negative reviews of Mitchell. I can't say anything about these personal experience(s), but I'd like to share with you mine instead--
Giving others the benefit of the doubt and not relying on internet reviews, I was undeterred and called Mitchell. After all, you never know these days-- sometimes personality clashes can happen between people, but that's not to say that your own experience would be the same.
After consulting with 3 other attorneys (who had raving reviews), I contacted Mitchell. With the fear of the unknown being at the top, along with the lack of financial strength--I researched and asked detailed questions regarding contested divorce cases. He eased my worries and answered all my concerns--instilling confidence in me, I decided to move forward with him.
After a year of a "pending" divorce, I learned things can change within minutes. If you have an ex-spouse who is the reason for a contested divorce, you'll learn that being on edge and desiring to give up happens a lot. Every time you feel cheated/bullied/attacked in some way by your ex, you will want to cry and not know how best to move forward. With Mitchell's help, however, each time I had doubts about something, he was always ready to call and talk to me. He looked out for me and my best interests and encouraged me to fight when needed. It takes courage to walk away from an unhealthy relationship and when you have someone supportive and having your back during the hardest of times, and being your sounding board for anything that requires logic, deeper analysis, or tact and a good game plan--you would be lucky! This is how I feel my experience with Mitchell has been.
On another note-- I hope those of you reading this understand, from a business perspective, that attorneys are very busy filing cases, and there are only X amount of judges (I think 3) handling thousands of divorce cases every day on Oahu (i.e. contested divorces can take years to close). Mitchell works hard on all his client files (weekends/ weeknights). Email responses and phone conversations from him late nights tell me that he does his best to respond. So for those who say he doesn't respond, that isn't true. I'm a busy working professional myself; I can relate in this regard. How you handle this is through communication of expectations, compassion, patience, and definitely respect for each other. It might take a few calls/emails/texts to get a response, but I was always responded to when needed most.
If you're looking for someone to represent you, with less overhead/staff and a smaller office, you may find yourself having to pre-fill out forms (no biggie!). Other attorneys will charge thousands of dollars for something we can do with our own hands! A little legwork on our end saves money to help us move forward when and where we need to, especially if your case feels anything like mine-- where the future seems uncertain, yet for the better.
In summary, I highly recommend Mitchell to represent your case; he will be my go-to attorney a hundred times over. He has years of experience, knowledge in this field, isn't driven by money (just compassion and understanding) and witnessed/experienced many contested cases in various aspects/regards; you will feel less alone in your journey.
(I can't thank you enough, Mitchell, for the past 12 months of your representation and service. I hope this review will help others find you in their greatest time of need).
