Benjamin was such a RELIEF to work with. He's was incredibly kind and knowledgeable and was always willing to talk with me when I had any questions even outside his realm. He made the entire inspection process easy by being very thorough and specific with images of all his findings and descriptions of it all along with recommendations. The inspection cost was much cheaper than we originally expected and he even makes that a very easy process with multiple avenues of payment available for whatever works for his clients. We will absolutely be using him again in the any future inspection needs we have and home purchases.

Gene and his crew have done several projects for us over this past summer and his work is tops! He…read morehas quality guys, they work until its done and Gene's communication is excellent (which is very important to me as I'm particular and I want to be asked about every detail). Our first project was full renovation of a cabin so flooring, electrical, sheet-rock, painting, installing cabinets, plumbing, the works. The other projects involved painting, installing flooring, demo work, and some electrical too. I find it a bit difficult in Alaska sometimes to find 'the complete package' for renovation/remodeling projects and I very much wish Alaskans would write more reviews - on Google, Houzz, Yelp, wherever, just write them!! So I decided I need to do what am asking of other anonymous Alaskans... tell me who's great please?!?! And so here I am giving a big 'shout out' to Gene and his guys for doing a great job for me this summer. thanks Gene. :-)

I won't ever deal with another gutter company in Alaska. This company is the gold standard of what a gutter company should be.

Original installation 24 Aug. 2016, had several visual and functional issues that needed…read morecorrection: 1) Gutters not straight, resulting in low areas that do not drain and nasty looking oil canning. 2) Hack job at end of a too long gutter where it had to be cut by hand to fit resulting in jagged, uneven cut, metal shards, etc.. 3) Gutter section that ran downhill to a capped end, had nowhere to drain. 4) Gutter set so low on fascia that water ran over and past the gutter. 5) Screw(s) in gutter hangers that split the bottom edge of the fascia. 6) Both trims at both miters were installed grossly out of plumb and with up to 1/2" gaps between the trim and the bottom of the gutter. 7) Mismatched gutter lengths (one 1-1/2" longer than the other) at each side of the entry gable face. 8) Down spouts not installed plumb. I fixed the downspouts then called them, and several days later two kids came to 'fix' the problems. Some issues were corrected, but new ones were created: 1) Repairs resulted in more damage to the fascia and no offer was made to repair it. 2) The rear gutter still has a low spot that retains 1/2"+ of water, way towards what is supposed to be the high end: This was pointed out to the installer who argued that my eyes were wrong and his 3" pocket level is dead accurate. 3) Repairs left numerous holes in the back side of the gutter (visible from inside the home) and holes in the metal edge trim. None of which were caulked or sealed. 4) Numerous leaks (some significant) between the back side of the gutter and fascia. 5) A new, 12" long split in the fascia was noted after the crew left. 6) The trim at the front miter has fully separated from the face of the gutter on one side. 7) A gutter hanger found on the ground below a section of gutter that now is five feet between supports. Apparently dropped during the 'repairs' but never replaced. The installer gave me his phone number and asked me to call him if there were any other issues. I did. Three times in two days. Will be calling others tomorrow and will follow up here. Oct. 14; Three times a charm. Issues have been addressed and we now have an acceptable installation.

Dave is great in a bunch of ways. First, he's extremely competent. He'll do a great job. Second, he…read morehas some brains and understands what you're trying to do. He will work with you and make reasonable and good suggestions. Third, he will save you money. Lots and lots of money. We had an old water heater that went out, which was a real problem because we have baseboard heat. So, we really needed a water heater. We had a quote from our heating company and Dave said he could beat the quote. He got us a continual hot water heater, installed, for about $4K less than what we had been quoted. Work was top notch. We have hired Dave for several projects, not the least of which was replacing the hot water heater. A major project was renovating our garage. His work was great but a lot of it was during the winter, which meant that there were a number of people who were calling about heaters and issues with their house affected by the cold. When we needed a hot water heater, our work went to the top of the list. When it's January and some of the garage needs to be finished, work for others that is really important in the Alaska winter (like water heaters and other issues) went to the top of the list. I suppose I could bitch about that but I also recognize that the time line of my garage being finished isn't a matter of life and death. Fixing someone's heat or hot water or other matters can be life or death in an Alaska winter. I figure it's better to have a really competent handy man with a conscience than making sure my garage is his A#1 priority. So when his timeline for finishing our garage gets delayed because he's fixing the heat on an elderly couple's house, I don't worry. All in all, Dave's done excellent work. He's also been completely up front and 100% honest and done a great job. I've recommended him to friends of ours who are older and need real help because I know he will do a competent job and be honest about his services. That is, I know he will do a good job and I don't have to worry about him overcharging them. My wife and I are already discussing our next projects with him. I don't know if I can give a higher recommendation than that.
