The questions only pertained to our needs. The woman I spoke to, was speedy on the phone, as if she was in a rush to gage if I was a good candidate or not for their business. She would talk over me, cut me off and wasn't pleasant one bit. I told her I had to discuss things with the family and contact their office later. Before I could finish thanking her, she hung up! Realistically, lawyers are a dime a dozen here. At first, he was very helpful & attentive in terms of answering all my questions & I offered to pay for his advice & he said "No he was glad to do it" he is NOT an attorney. When I went to him for my taxes what I found "odd" was that he asked to see my bank accounts & download some on his PC. WHY would a simple tax preparer ask to see & download your bank accounts & statements which is not typical, especially for simple 1040 tax preparations? The only time you would show bank accounts is if you have a lot of assets & things you claim on your taxes that are business dealings etc. I should have done a more extensive background on him. After he saw my bank account he changed his price from $150 to $400!! I asked "WHY he changed his price from $150 to $400" & he then stated, "that he no longer wanted to do business with me b/c I questioned him on his price change & that he doesn't do business w clients who question his prices and that his clients don't question him or his prices, they just pay". WTH? THAT is a RED FLAG...! I told him if I simply asked WHY he changed the original price he quoted - WHAT was wrong with that? IF I can't question what & why & be given the option of whether I want it done & he gets butthurt because I questioned his ethics then THAT alone is something to be CAUTIOUS about especially with so many people who have access to your documents and information you should be asking A LOT of questions!
