Overall 9/10 depending on the day and staff I'm usually in and out no problem, maybe once I had to wait because they were understaffed. The doctor is one of the best I ever had, very insightful and confident in her diagnosis. Any questions I ever had are always answered in a way I understand which I like. I always leave happy because the staff is very nice and do a good job cleaning and flossing my teeth!. I had an appointment on Monday at 10:00 am. I waited and was taken back by a really nice lady who I believe is a dental hygienist. She flossed and polished my teeth and was overall really nice. They told me I wouldn't be getting an X-ray and to wait for the dentist. At about 10:45 am I was getting frustrated because the dentist never came in to see me so I decided to get up and leave. I didn't want to waste more time since she wouldn't be checking my X-rays and didn't see my teeth before the cleaning. I then asked the front desk to send me a summary of what was done. I know I'm going to have to go somewhere else to finish. They told me they would email it to me. It's now Friday past 6 pm and I never got anything... I've used this place in the past and the staff including the dentist were all super nice but the wait time and lack of follow up were really bad during my last visit. I've been searching for a new dental office because I have yet to find primary care since I have moved to the bay area. I am really, really careful and even fearful when it comes to choosing a dental office. I believe our smiles are what other people notice first, and I do not feel comfortable becoming a patient just anywhere like a western dental/etc. My first impression started off at how quick I was assisted by the receptionist over the phone and able to book my examination appointment in becoming a new patient. The process was extremely fast and easy. What i absolutely also loved was the fact I had asked her over the phone ahead of time whether my insurance covers my visit because I do not want to show up and find out I have to pay out of pocket for hidden fees. The receptionist was transparent with me which i highly appreciated. In the past I've had consultations at other locations claiming my insurance is accepted and then show up to find out my procedures cost $2,000 my insurance wouldn't cover so I always do my research before anywhere. I appreciated their professionalism and transparency. Arriving at my appointment, there is spacious parking in the back so I had no trouble finding parking. The office is extremely cute and very clean! I felt very comfortable from sitting in the waiting room up and in the patient rooms. They keep everything tidy, sanitized/sterilized. Dr. Smita Rodrigues is the most welcoming doctor and I felt trusting being in her care. I was very satisfied with her service and consultation. She went above and beyond in assisting me. She even went out of her way to recommend to specialists and made sure they would accept my insurance as well. Other doctors in the past could care less and have either told me "you should call your insurance i'm sure they'll give you a list" or recommend other specialists not taking into account whether insurance is covered or not. I've been a patient of this office for several years now, but I, like many people, was putting off my dental work. This past summer I was finally emotionally and financially ready to complete my work, which included 6 fillings and 2 crowns. Talk about procrastination, I had not had serious teeth work done since I was a pre-teen! It has been years and not knowing what to expect, the Luminous Dental staff made me feel very comfortable. What I admire most is Dr Smita Rodrigues' professionalism. Each employee definitely seemed to meet these standards. Everyone was very polite. I never felt swindled or scammed. They explained to me very clearly the prices that were based upon my insurance policy. There is even a 5% discount if you pay in cash! Most importantly, I want to describe how gentle Dr Rodrigues is. Everyone knows that the numbing shots are the most painful part. However, she makes the process completely and I mean COMPLETELY painless!!! She numbs the area with a Qtip first and is so soft that you never feel a thing! I had 3 major appointments with Dr Rodrigues and not once during the duration of any of the appointments did I have to ask for more novocaine. I never felt anything more than slight discomfort. Dr Rodrigues works quickly and efficiently, while remaining very aware of your comfort. I was also very impressed with the utensils and tools she used. Technology has much improved in the last 10 years! There was little to no healing time. I was back to work the same day with no medication and the numbness wore off in a few hours. My fillings are perfect and my crowns are absolutely gorgeous! It feels nice to have my mouth feel so comfortable again. Do not be put off by the location, it can seem like a hole in the wall from the outside, but the building is beautiful Parking in the rear. Like most buildings, especially medical, it's always cold inside (so bring a sweater prior Yelp reviewer, duh!). I was surprised to find the office tucked into a location that I pass by so often. I'm glad to have found it. My Mom and Grandma are so happy to hear that I have found a great dentist that they are finally ready to complete the much needed dental work that they have been waiting for. These guys are very patient and gentle with my 16 year old. I firmly believe in giving good reviews for excellent service. Dr. Rodriguez is thoughtful and smart. She pays attention to insurance costs and really helps the patient so that they are getting the most for their care. The front desk staff is friendly and courteous. It is really hard to find a good dentist, even more difficult than finding a good doctor, but, I really feel happy with Dr. Rodriguez. My family has been going to Dr. Rodrigues for dental work since the past seven years and we all find her amazing. She is extremely patient, very compassionate, polite and professional. With my previous dentist, I was terrified but with Dr. Rodrigues I am comfortable and Pain Free. What I like most about her is she takes time to explain me what dental work I need to get done, then prioritize what needs to be taken care of first and never pushes me to go in for expensive crowns or other dental treatments. I just returned from my first and last visit to this office. My appointment time was at 3:45 pm, after waiting for 30 minutes to be called back and having x-rays done, I was escorted to a very cold room and told that the MD would be with me shortly. After another 30 minutes of waiting and no correspondence with the staff, I asked how much longer I would have to wait and they could not give me any answer. This was at 4:45 pm, an hour since I had arrived for my appointment. What a waste of my time, I sat there for an hour and have nothing to show for it. I did not even receive the common courtesy of keeping me informed of how long the wait would be. So be warned, unless you have nothing better to do with your time than sit in this office with unprofessional staff who lack simple communication skills, go somewhere else. This is the best dentist I've ever had! My entire family goes here and i would recommend this dentist to anyone. Very professional and friendly staff. She's very gentle and very patient. I felt that she really cared and the staff there made sure I was given an estimate of all the work needed. If you want a dentist for your family I would give this one a call. When looking for the office you have to drive slowly or else you may pass the office by. It's located almost right behind the Mcdonald's. I have a family of four small children. Being each check-up procedure takes time I have to schedule two of my children per visit. We have been clients for one year now and each visit I have to stand in the halls keeping a quiet eye on all four kids as they are separated into different treatment rooms. Which, are clean and up to date I should mention. Not only are the staff patient and accommodating but are very friendly and happy to be where they are. Dr Rodrigues is very professional and compassionate towards her clients. It is a pleasure to be patrons of her practice and would recommend her services to anyone with small children. I just came back from the most uninspiring and shortest teeth cleaning in my life. I get regular "teeth cleanings" every 6 months since I am a low maintenance patient who has not had a cavity in over a decade. No deep cleanings. Just regular teeth cleanings and the dental hygienists always do a great job in my mouth. The dental hygienists at the other dental practices that I have gone to, do a meticulous job at cleaning my teeth and take 30-45 minutes. The dentist at this practice took 1 minute to "clean" my teeth then started to polish my teeth which would take another minute. I came in telling the dentist that I wanted a manual teeth cleaning and I could tell that she did not want to do it so she pursued me to get ultrasonic cleaning. I trusted her but then when the cleaning only lasted a minute, I felt conned. Dentistry is a business and their business model as far as teeth cleanings go is low quality work. Oh well, on to search for a good dental practice with good dental hygienists because I can still feel the calculus behind my teeth as I rub my tongue against them. read more

The worst experience ever! Fairly, the dentist and staff are friendly in the 1st appointment, and the dentist is good. But they charge too much. They made a second appointment for me, and before few days until the appointment day I called them to cancel. But on that day they called me back, and ask me why I didn't show up. I decided to go to another dentist office. I had 4 teeth filing, and the new dentist did it for me with affordable price. The new dentist checked my insurance to make sure everything 's going well. But, after 4 teething filing the new dentist announced that Smita J Rodrigues charge me more than a half of my insurance cover, but she send claim to the insurance too late, so the new dentist can not know my teeth filling is out of insurance cover. Right now I totally pay for 2 of 4 teeth filling more than 500$. If Smita J Rodrigues don't charge too much ( I just did a teeth cleaning in here) or she sent acclaim sooner. I will not stuck in this problem. Hate it! read more
