This venue is only open during the fringe festival (august) but its a fantastic place to go to see a show or have a drink.
The atmosphere is great. The building itself is in need of repair, its leaky, damp and cold but this gives it a fantastic feel and it really seems to suit the venue! The walls are covered in posters of shows on at the venue and the tables are usually covered in fliers and brochures so there's always something to read.
The Underbelly has loads of different spaces to watch things in, some big some small, but all have the distinctive Underbelly atmosphere. The late night comedy programme is excellent, with the bars usually staying open till 5am. The bars themselves are fab, although they usually end up so busy that there is nowhere to sit down but that will happen wherever you go during the fringe really. The recently added little outdoor drinking area is a good idea, and a lovely place to hang out after a hard day seeing shows!
Great shows, great comedians, kooky little bars and friendly, cheery staff. I love the underbelly, and wish it was open all year! read more
