William Smiley is the same lawyer who helped write legislation for Republican state rep Joel Kleefisch to cut child support payments for rich parents so that his own millionaire client Michael Eisenga would get his court ordered payments reduced. Hey, even the 1,300 attorneys of the Family Law Section of the WI State Bar opposed the bill. This Mr. Eisenga is worth $30 million and gave thousands of dollars in contributions to Republican politicians, including Kleefisch and wife Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch, and he don't need to skip out on supporting his kids. Emails show that Smiley drafted exact changes to the bill so that it would apply retroactively to Eisenga's court appointed child support order and enable child support relief for millionaires! That's just helping a rich fella get favors from politicians. Kleefisch said on the radio that Smiley was personally calling his staff. Now that type of conjuring puts Joel Kleefisch smack in the pocket of a big money donor. Turns out Mr. Eisenga has a history also of being investigated by 4 Wisconsin state agencies for violations of business practices and non-payment of taxes. This cheap turkey even enrolled his kids in BadgerCare! Evidently Mr. Eisenga has no problem spending money travelling in a chauffeur-driven Rolls Royce, but ain't so generous with money for his kids. Best I see Smiley crafted a bill to help his rich Republican client get political paybacks and sneak out on his own kids. read more
