The dentists - those who are not thoroughly disillusioned and have decided to take only private patients - are decent and good with kids, and the treatment I have had has been good (though pricey, even though I am NHS.) INdeed, they still take NHS patients on, which is unusual for today. One gripe is that as the surgery is in a large converted house, you often have to trek right to the top to see the dentist - up three floors with increasingly narrow stairs. This is not a great option for those of us with pushchairs and small children in tow

However recently I turned up for an appointment and met my new dentist for the first time. When I walked in I could not work out if he was the dentist at first because he wasn't dressed in the usual dentist attire. I also found him accusing, abrupt and rather rude. I however respect that he knows what he is doing when it comes to the care of teeth etc, but don't respect his manner. I also think that had I been a middle class Caucasian woman/man his manner and tone would have been entirely different.

Just because it was over a year ago they insisted they couldn't book it all in a single appointment, despite being a patient there for over 5 years they were more concerned that they MIGHT lose money - even though they charge well above average and have made thousands from me over the years. A spoke to another practice and they were more than happy to oblige. The practice manager is an arrogant fool, who said it would be childish to give them a bad review.
