I make it a habit to know what services I receive and what kind of benefits that are associated with the services through insurance. Yesterday, I received a bill in the mail (first time) saying that I owe almost $2,000. (The bill has no information of any kind explaining where this amount is coming from) So, naturally I was concerned and called the dentist office immediately. This is the first time I am seeing or hearing this amount billed to me. I spoke to a newly hired office employee that explained to me that I had been carrying a balance for almost 2 years for services that were rendered. Everytime I get any kind of treatment or service, I make it a habit to PAY IN FULL the amount that is owed the date services are rendered. If not, then I set up a PAYMENT PLAN to cover any remaining amount the date services are rendered. The young lady on the phone explained to me EOB's that are covered through insurance and the remaining amounts are billed to the clients. My questions were why am I just now receiving a bill? Why are you threatening to send me to collections in 10 days if the bill is not paid in full? Why did I not receive a statement, phone call, or bill prior? Why would I continue to get services/ treatment at an establishment if I have an open balance? Why doesn't the bill show detailed information about what was billed for and why? The billing system that created this document hasn't been updated since 2022 showing the lack of monitoring the billing system has. (Shown at the bottom of the bill) Keep in mind, I received this bill (for the first time) 12/23/24. Two days before Christmas. Judging by the past reviews of disgruntled prior existing patients, it seems that I am not the only one who has had issues with the billing department and the LACK OF TRANSPARENCY through billing. I would never agree to pay for services, NOT knowing the full amount that is due at the time of services. This type of business practice appears to be shady and not forthcoming. This kind of business practice literally leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

She and Dr. Holmes have been working together for over 13 years. They work extremely well together as a team and have great bedside manner. They took the time to show me pictures of each problematic tooth and discussed the options. I NEVER felt pressure to decide on a particular treatment or buy a product. I had visited another DDS last year, and the quote was almost double this one. At one point, Dr. Holmes even nerded out with me when discussing the materials involved in my cap and how it has evolved over the years. Nothing can replace hands-on experience from providing excellent dental care for decades. They were spot-on with the temporary cap they provided me (go Shanna!), probably better than the one that came from the professional lab (which Dr. Holmes helped to remove all ridges and coarseness). Dr. Holmes and every single one of his staff members are some of the nicest down to earth people I have ever met. I felt 100% comfortable with every person I encountered. I had a cleaning done then a filling right after. I still have to go back for another more complicated filling. Dr. Holmes took a good amount of time to explain to me why the other filling was more complex. He showed me pictures, videos and x-rays of my tooth. I really appreciated him doing that because I have had some bad experiences with a dentist doing unnecessary work. A good peace of mind is worth a lot to me. This might be a random compliment but I wanted to also include this. Usually when I get a filling it takes a few days to get used to it. The bite always seems off until I chew food on it for a few days. But, from day 1 this filling has been perfect. I honestly could not even tell I had a filling recently and he chose a white filling so it doesn't even look like my tooth has a filling. We no longer go to this clinic as we have moved. However, when we did go my wife got an abscess shortly after being worked on which I believe the doc here had to then refer her to someone else, which was a little unusual. Then about 6 months after my last cleaning with this dentist, went to a new dentist who found that one of my teeth was extremely bad and she said it was easy to see with the naked eye. The new dentist said a cavity like that had to have been growing for at least a year -- says it may have been salvageable at one point but very likely to need a root canal. So I'm just trying to caution that we had some issues here with things being missed that had some lasting effects ... and again, it's too bad because the doctor's bedside banner is awesome.
