Pickins are slim in Iowa, but I can confidently say I would choose Dr. Roewe over all other oral surgeons out there. I have a long, complicated dental history and have been coming to Dr. Roewe for years. He is so flexible with my schedule (multiple weekend appointments; he even came in on Christmas when I had an emergency) and willing to patiently explain the situation/his treatment plan and rationale. The nurses are all quite friendly and even though getting your mouth sliced open is probably pretty high on everyone's list of a crappy day, everyone does their best to make you happy and comfortable and experience a successful surgical outcome.

I came into his office for the appointment after a few delays due to me having a mild case of pneumonia. As the anesthesiologist inserted the needle and I started to slip into unconsciousness, I was watching American Hoggers, a reality TV show about wild hog hunters in Texas. I was rendered unconscious within what seemed like 10 seconds after the drugs took effect. I momentarily woke up in his office and the wisdom teeth were extracted. There was one very mild complication with one of the teeth, which removed some of the skin. But he stitched the roots accordingly. I've also learned that my mom had the same oral surgeon when she got her wisdom teeth taken out. Overall, the procedure went very well, and to be honest, it was actually kind of fun (I was very out of it coming out of the anesthesia). Final grade: 4/5 (80%)

Its farther to drive here for me than burlington, but they are so professional, apt, clean, thorough and kind. But after missing…read moreone appointment, during an incredibly difficult period in my life involving a divorce, major health issues, and custody challenges, they dropped me as a patient entirely. I had even confirmed the appointment over text, but in the chaos of everything going on, I forgot the exact date. I wasn't a no-show out of disrespect, I was barely hanging on, and they clearly didn't care. No second chance. No call. Just a hardline policy and an immediate dismissal. I ended up having to call six other dental offices before I found one that would accept my insurance and that office is 45 minutes away. I'm unemployed right now and barely able to afford gas, so what used to be a five-minute drive is now a financial and logistical burden. This wasn't patient-centered care, it was a reminder that you're only welcome as long as you're perfectly compliant. If you're going through anything real or human, good luck. Find a provider that understands patients aren't robots. You deserve better.

Hey, these guys are sharp! We had a great experience. My daughter had a strange abscess in her ear…read morelobe that wasn't an allergic reaction to ear rings, but was somehow related to her piercings getting infected in the one lobe. We had seen a family physician who prescribed antibiotic ointment, which got the angry, oozing, painful, purple thing under control, and shrunk it a lot, but it didn't go away. The physician hardly even looked at it, and didn't seem to know anything about it or what it was. Not so with Dr. Cleveland! He was very interested in hearing my story, was not turned off by the fact that I had done some internet research, and even suggested where to look for more info. He diagnosed the condition quickly and informed me that many times other physicians are unfamiliar with skin conditions that they seemingly should be familiar with. We learned that the condition would not necessarily clear up on its own, and thus performed a quick office procedure right there to clean the gunk out which threatened to fester. Daughter's ear healed very well and the problem has not come back. His staff was very friendly and considerate. For any skin condition you are having a problem with, I highly recommend Dr. Cleveland. Also, they will not reschedule you for procedures if they can do it there that day. That's a huge plus! They see patients in Fort Madison once a week, but their regular clinic is in Burlington, Iowa. It will take 2 or 3 weeks to get on their schedule, but that's not bad for a dermatologist these days.
