This place is a joke. I've never in my life been told by a dental hygienist that I "cannot dictate care." Let me spell it out: patients absolutely have the right to refuse any procedure, test, or screening. That's called autonomy. It's the foundation of medicine. But apparently this know-it-all hygienist thinks she outranks the law, common sense, and even my own body. I wasn't refusing treatment--I simply declined a blood pressure reading due to white coat syndrome, a very real and well-documented condition. Instead of professionalism, I got arrogance, bullying, and a power trip from someone who isn't even a dentist. The audacity of a hygienist trying to lecture me that I "can't dictate care" is laughable. News flash: I dictate everything that happens to me, and the only thing this office dictates is how fast patients walk out the door. If this is how they treat people who advocate for themselves, imagine how they behave when someone is vulnerable or doesn't push back. I walked out and I'll never return. There are plenty of dentists who understand patient rights and don't let their staff talk down to people like they're children. This office? Nothing but condescension wrapped in a dental smock. read more

I recently switched over to this dentist and have been having a great experience! I typically abhor going to get my teeth worked on because of previous trauma but their team have made the procedure very comfortable and seamless. They are very personable and professional and are using much more up to date dental technology that facilitates the process of getting impressions. So I'm usually terrified of going to the dentist so I first found this place through a friend's recommendation. My experiences here have been so great that I feel I need to write a review. First of all the office is clean and aesthetically pleasing to the eyes. Diane at the front is so kind and personable which is so important. During my annual check up, Tammy took my xrays and she tried her best to make my feel comfortable since I tend to gag during those (I know, gross) and I didn't gag once! That part is actually what I dread most about my checkups. And of course Dr. Shack is great as well - she's funny and kind and makes me feel very comfortable. And her assistants always have big smiles on. I got fitted for Invisalign here and will be coming back to get my teeth whitened. My husband also comes here - he's gotten more complicated procedures done and he's had great experiences as well. LONG STORY SHORT: This office is so well run. Everyone and everything here is great. FANTASTIC! The whole team at smile shack is great. I came in without being to a dentist in 7 years, I also had just ben in a motorcycle accident an had broken my jaw an had 5 teeth knocked out as well. I got the best general cleaning I've ever gotten completely painless an the amount of staining that was removed was astonishing, I had all my cavities filled an had permanent implants put in where I had lost them. Dr. Shack is an amazing dentist. She's very sweet and gentle. My husband does not mind making his way over there even though we live in Queens now. His visits are always quick and painless. When Dr shack was with me she only concentrated on me. My procedure was painless and I can see the care and attention to detail she puts into her work. Definitely the best dentist I have ever been to! Over the years, I've been to about 5 dentists. Each one has disappointed me more and more. It was actually the reason I had not been to a dentist in about 3 yrs. But then I found the Smile Shack!!! I live in Brooklyn, but I make an effort to trek my way out to LI to see Dr.Shack, which to me speaks volumes as I m the type of person who doesn't like to travel far or wait a long time to get a checkup, especially if it is a dentist checkup.
