I went with a different place at first because it was closer to where we were living. Well, that turned out to be a mistake. I ended up having a bad experience there and finally switched to S&L. Dr. Ngo and his team fixed everything the other dentist had messed up. Right away I knew my wife had been right all along. I've been going to S&L for four years now and they really are the best dental office I've ever been to. Dr. Ngo has removed all my old metal fillings and replaced them with modern ones, plus he's done a couple of crowns for me. Everything looks and feels great. My wife has also been extremely happy with all the work he's done for her too. I'm almost 55 and I've seen a bunch of top-rated, highly recommended dentists over the years, both here in the US and a couple in Mexico. Nothing else comes close. One thing I have to mention is how good Dr. Ngo is with people who hate dental visits or get nervous about pain. His work is excellent, but it's the way he takes care of you that makes the biggest difference. For example, the way he does Novocaine shots is unbelievable. You barely feel it at all. Every dentist out there should learn his technique. With all that said, I do think the front office experience could be better. If the customer service up front matched Dr. David's clearly caring vibe, it would be 100% perfect. If you're looking for a truly professional dentist who gives five-star care and service, this is the place. Dr. David Ngo at S&L is the only one I would recommend without any hesitation.

He is knowledgeable and professional and always takes time to check in, even during routine cleanings. I usually don't wait more than 5 minutes for my appointments. There have been times where I needed immediate dental care and they are able to work with you to fit you in as quickly as possible. I have recommended him to many people throughout the last 8 years! At a previous dental office in Miami I had a terrible experience that started with a routine cleaning that turned into a root canal 6 hours later and left me with significant anxiety with all things dental related. I found out a few years later after moving to Arizona that the root canal was not performed correctly and I had to get it re-done. Dr. Ngo is incredible at calming nerves and making you feel safe when in uncomfortable situations, especially with anxiety. He talks through every step in advance and during the procedures, so that there are no surprises. He takes extra time when numbing the mouth so that the pain is tolerable and at times barely noticeable. I really appreciate this and feel like it's rare to find. I highly recommend Dr. Ngo and S&L Dental for all your dental needs.

Dr Willman is no longer with the practice. Huge, enormous, gigantic loss for Pima Dental. About four months ago, I returned because I needed to molars extracted. Let me note that after the extractions I had fully intended beginning work on all my lower teeth, fully expecting to make another substantial investment. This practice is not inexpensive... in my view it is extremely overpriced (especially after I share what happened below). I was prepared to pay another substantial amount to complete my treatment. I did miss one appointment due to a personal emergency. I attempted to call but was unable to get through, and at the time my focus understandably had to be on the emergency. At my next scheduled appointment, I drove over 45 minutes from north Phoenix. I arrived and had X-rays done, and then met with a dentist who informed me that two teeth would need to be extracted by an oral surgeon and that the procedure could not be done there. While the dentist was courteous, the appointment ultimately resulted in a two-hour round trip simply to be referred elsewhere. I wish this had been communicated to me beforehand. As I was leaving, I was stunned when I was told not to leave and was informed that I owed a $50 missed-appointment fee. Mandy, the office manager, whom I had worked with before made it be known that I needed to pay $50. What disappointed me most was not the amount itself, but the complete lack of empathy or discretion--especially toward a long-standing patient who had already invested heavily in the practice and was prepared to invest significantly more. I understand that offices have cancellation policies. However, patient relationships should involve more than strict enforcement of fees. In my experience, this practice places profits above patient goodwill and patient satisfaction. Between the high costs of treatment and the rigid handling of this situation, it left me feeling that policies mattered more than people. As a business owner myself, I believe long-term trust, empathy, and relationships are what sustain a practice--not nickel-and-diming loyal patients. Unfortunately, this experience has led me to seek care elsewhere for the remainder of my treatment, and I will not be recommending this office moving forward ever again! I hope this feedback is taken constructively. My initial experience here was excellent, attributed primarily to Dr Willman, which makes this outcome all the more disappointing.

I don't have sleep apnea and can't get a CPAP but my snoring was ruining my sleep and especially my wife's sleep. We were on our way to a sleep divorce. The new doctor was so-so, and they also experienced hygienist and front desk turnover that was less than for the better. Both of my young adult daughters also commented on how off-putting their experiences were, but Oh well - we decided to give them a solid try. Fast forward to 6 months later and I arrive a few minutes early for my 8a appointment (after a text message an email and three annoying phone calls from them confirming and re-confirming my attendance), only to sit waiting for 15 minutes until I asked what was the delay. I was advised they were short-staffed and because I had to get to work, I rescheduled. Just yesterday I arrived for my reschedule, was left sitting for 10 minutes, then had my cleaning. After the cleaning the hygienist told me we were done and wished me well - no exam or check-in my a doctor. I asked why not, and was advised that their standard procedure was that the doctor didn't come in for an exam unless the patient requested it or the hygienist finds something concerning; this has NEVER been the procedure in 20 years of going every 6 months. At my mention of this concern she told me she could summon the doctor if I wanted, but by now I was over it. Overall, I am very disappointed by the downward slide of this practice and will be seeking a new care provider. I also don't think my insurance provider would appreciate the knowledge that despite them paying the provider for a routine exam and cleaning, this practice only really provides a cleaning unless the issue is pressed. I will be seeking a new dental provider moving forward.

I too was surprised to learn there was a new doctor when I went for my cleaning the last time. The hygienist was nice so I went for two visits under the new management. They seem to indicate to me that Dr Voight had done something wrong and that's why he wasn't there anymore. But it seems, in reality that this place is run by some sort of dental management company and it's a revolving door of doctors and hygienist. Needless to say the hygienist that I had liked was no longer there for my visit this week. My latest experience this week was the absolute worst. I went in and was told by one lady that she was the doctor and she checked my x-rays, the assistant just completed. Then they had two machines broken and almost had to reschedule and I was really frustrated because I couldn't get in there for a month, which I was surprised because the parking lot was completely empty and there were no other patients in the office. Well, the same lady who said she was the doctor said she was also going to do my scraping cleaning because the machine was down. While she did the cleaning, she put a piece of cotton in between my bottom teeth and my lip, where she proceeded to wipe the stuff that she scraped from my teeth onto it, right inside my mouth! I was mortified at the lack of hygiene. I asked her to stop doing that because it's disgusting and nobody has ever done that in my entire life going to Dentists. Between that and the broken equipment, I also thought she didn't know what she was doing After she was done, another woman polished my teeth, but she smeared the polish all over my teeth before she use the machine which I thought was very strange and again asked myself if these people knew what they were doing.
