I went for my cleaning today. As usually they had all new staff except for Vicky who has been the most helpful staff member over the years. I tried to keep an open mind and go with the new people. Everything was going well, and I meet the new dentist. They tried to charge me for the fluoride treatment even though its covered. The real problem started when I tried to Scheule my next cleaning in 6 months. The office Manager I think her name is Carissa informs me that I had to have 3 more clean in this year or they would not continue my cleanings. My insurance only pays for 2 a year so I explain to her that I am the patient, and I only want 2. After a few minutes of a very intense conversation, I Explained that I have had that same cleaning done there for the last 7 years and they have never required me to have 4 cleaning a year. She threatened to call the police if I didn't leave. The new dentist came out and ask if he could help and Office Manager Carissa came back up to the counter and told us both that this is her office, and she run the way she wants and she would not schedule my cleaning unless I did 3 more this year. UPDATE: They commented that they would be in touch, never reached out in any way. I do however recommend Bernier Dental in Land O Lakes. They are more professional, friendlier, and actually work with the customer and insurance companies. Original: Save yourself the trouble and do NOT go here. The dental hygienists were very friendly, however I paid money up front, as well as was charged by the CLAIMS agency almost a year after going here. Turns out, the administrative side wouldn't provide a W-9 for my insurance to pay them. So Smile Design failed to contact me, sent their claims agency after me, and still will not provide a breakdown of the costs of services rendered. I was also referred to the density in Port Richey to get my wisdom teeth extracted, where they tried to scam me by asking if I could pay anything for a FREE consultation, AND tried to tell me they would remove the wisdom teeth that day, no sedatives, and have me drive myself home. Took my daughter here. She had to have some teeth pulled. The dentist missed an infection and started pulling teeth. My daughter complained and was in tears because of the pain. The dentist said she was being a baby and tried to continue. We ended up stopping and picking a new dentist. read more

The hygienists are GREAT but this office customer service is terrible!!! They always call me prior to my appointment that I scheduled with them 3 months earlier and change it to accommodate their dentist schedule not the working customer. They called me to ask if I would come in early for my next scheduled visit. I told them I could not as I work and then they said they could not accommodate my appointment if I did not come in 30 minutes earlier. Walked away from this practice as I was a long time customer as they, once again, tried to change my appointment to come in earlier so their dentist could get off earlier!!! If I knew about yelp I would not do any business with SMILE DESIGN DENTISTRY.I lost I tooth so far and I may lose more teeth due to the incompetence of their DENTIST and incompetent assistants. Awful wait. Awful service. There is no waiting area to speak of, and nothing to entertain children. Explain how a pediatric dentist has no room for children forced to wait for 1.5 hours for a routine cleaning. My 8 year old sat on their filthy floor so that a grandmother could have her seat. I was beyond disgusted. The lack of care and respect for patients is evident and honestly sad. Save your time and money and go some place that cares for your children's health and well being. Went to have a procedure done, told the office that I believed that there was a waiting period on my account for the procedure they recommended, was then reassured that this procedure was covered by my insurance... turns out- the procedure was NOT covered and there WAS a waiting period, and they are sticking me with the ENTIRE BILL (over $2K). All of this after I told them that I was fairly certain about the waiting period and was reassured the procedure was covered... Shame on me for not calling my insurance to verify before taking their word for it... Figured I would leave it up to the professionals and trust their advice... WRONG! read more

Loved the office. Staff at front is so helpful and informative. Dr bawany so so nice and made me feel comfortable while there. The fillings and crown I had done were virtually painless. I am a huge baby to get my dental treatment done. But the whole office made it easy. Would recommend this dental office to everyone. read more

VERY UNWELCOMING EXPERIENCE Went in a few weeks back because I was having some pain. I had called around that morning but had no luck so had my mother reach out to a few places and she was able to get me in. When the receptionist contacted me she asked if I could come in at 1pm or as soon as possible and said yes I could because it was already 11:55am. I quickly rushed to get there during Friday midday traffic on Dale Mabry and arrived at 12:55pm. When I walked I said to the receptionist that I was the person she has spoken to and was here for the 1pm appt., she quickly looked at me rolled her eyes and mumbled I said "as soon as possible" and proceeded to make very unwelcoming body gestures as to say "really, OMG". She slammed the papers on the counter and said "fill these out and I need your insurance card" I handed her what was in the slot with my card (as I'm still in excruciating pain) she looks at me and says "this isn't even the one I needed' and lays it on the counter, breathes heavily and then turns her back. As I go to sit down I here her mumbling with a co-worker and then she slams my insurance card and ID on the counter. I was in too much pain to leave and couldn't even hold it together, so as soon as I got to the back with the office manager I broke down in tears. Needless to say all others in the office were wonderful but because of her I will NEVER RETURN and I will definitely not recommend the LUTZ office at 5306 Van Dyke Rd. to anyone. read more

I cannot brag Doctor Gerges up enough. I knew that I had problems with my molars but I put off going to the dentist as I was petrified since I was a child. I was able to schedule a consultation right away and Dr. Gerges put me at ease. I needed four crowns and two fillings, as nervous as that made me, I felt less anxiety knowing that I was in great hands with Dr. Gerges and her staff. She thoroughly explained the procedure and addressed any concerns that I had. She was reassuring and attentive to me the whole time. Knowing that I was nervous, she mentioned that we could take breaks to make sure that I was comfortable and administer any extra numbing as needed. I was highly impressed with how quickly she completed the treatment and how comfortably they fit. Dr. Gerges is extremely knowledgeable, friendly, personable, and very sweet. She genuinely cares for her patients. She even did what I thought was impossible for me- rid my fear of the dentist! read more
