I've been a member at this gym for the past six months, and glad I signed up. From the moment I walked in, the energy and welcoming vibe set it apart from other places I've tried - Genuinely inviting. The personal training here is top-notch. My trainer, Jonnie, listened to understand my goals and created a customized program without going so far as to make me want to give up like it's unobtainable. They've helped me improve my form, build strength, and stay motivated. The progress I've seen has been exactly what I was looking for--I'm lifting heavier, moving better, and feeling stronger, just feeling healthier in general- could be the meal plan they give you too ‍ The group classes are another awesome sales point that got me in. Whether it's HIIT or strength training sessions, the instructors are motivating, knowledgeable, and fun. The classes are challenging for all different fitness levels, and the music and energy keep everyone engaged. A lot of the same people consistently go to the classes so you build a gym community and that adds a little accountability to it all; they make working out feel less like a chore and more like getting together with friends, even if I don't know much about them. What truly makes this gym stand out, though, is the social atmosphere. People here are genuinely friendly and open. When someone recognizes you from previous workouts, they actually say hi and chat for a minute instead of just looking away or pretending not to notice. It creates such a community feel. The staff are all great too. The facility is clean, well-equipped, the price point is palatable, especially for having classes and all included, and people are friendly. Stopped in to get a workout and the front desk guy charged us $10 per day pass, cool. He let us know there was a class going on that we could join and it would be done in 20. We wanted to use only the rowers and he said go for it. Walked in there and the instructor aggressively yelled at us to leave her room because she was in the middle of the class. We left the room and still got a work out in. Wish she was polite about it. Machines falling apart, weights racked out of order; heavy on top, no paper towels, and no one that worked there had good customer service. No greetings etc. do not recommend. This is the worst gym I've ever been to. The owner is never available, the staff is so unhelpful, and the policies they have are so ridiculous. Just to end your membership you have to pay for the next month as well! This place is too small to be paying more than 10 bucks a month, and the bathrooms and machines are disgusting and old. Their equipment is in poor condition and when you try to cancel your membership they will charge you $200 if you don't return the fob. It's extortionate considering those key fobs are about 15 cents each online. They just have to hit you for one last hefty fee and deactivating it costs them nothing. Save yourself the hassle and just dispute the charges with your bank The ellipticals make a grinding sound and the equipment is packed really close together. The bathrooms also aren't very clean. I just joined last week! Great gym for the PRICE. As someone who has been working in the fitness industry for YEARS, this gym is amazing for the price. Y'all out here expecting a top notch gym for only $12.99/month... that's insanity. Are there more luxurious gyms out there? For sure. But those gyms are expensive to maintain the amount of care and cleaning required for those standards. If you want a very squeaky clean and constantly maintained facility, expect a higher price. I have worked in 5 gyms so I know how these things work. For the price, I'm surprised it's as nice as it is to be honest! They have a little bit of everything. Love it here! No complaints, NONE! This is a nice gym, but I DREAD having to use the restrooms!! They are ALWAYS dirty. And not just a little bit dirty, straight up disgusting. It is very unsanitary and it constantly looks like this. The owner needs to hire a company to come in and DEEP clean these bathrooms. It shouldn't be up to his employees because he has let it get sooo bad. Never any soap and they put WATER in the dispenser when it's low to make it look full!!! Toilet paper dispensers are broken and the TP is put on top of the toilet. There is never any toilet covers either and people leave PEE on the seat. If this does not get fixed I will be finding another gym because this is truly unacceptable for a business to constantly look this dirty. PLEASE fix this issue. read more

I attended this gym for about 6 years and only cancelled because I moved away, otherwise I would have stayed for life! Hands down the best gym I have ever been apart of and I have tried several before finding Smart Gym. The staff is welcoming, the equipment is always clean and the owner Johnny is super knowledgeable. The XGT classes are high energy group fitness classes that have awesome instructors like Diana and Corey. They help to modify workouts to tailor to your individual needs. The XGT community is awesome too! They have 24/7 access but the gym is never usually crowded and that's their best kept secret. Read the fine print! Was told when signing up for personal training it was a 4 month commitment. Signed up and after 4 months, i attempted to cancel our personal training. Come to find out, i signed up for 6 months which was absolutely NOT what came out of the owners mouth during sign up. The owner told both my husband and I this was a 4 month commitment which worked for us bc after the 4 months we were going to just do a monthly membership to use the gym. Wont ever return. This is based off my experience to try it. They advertise a free 30 day vip pass but you basically have to sign up to get that. Also there's a sign up fee of $50. I wanted to check the gym out in general before signing up. I was told over the phone I could get a 24hr pass, so today I went in to try out the gym, the young man seemed rushed, I asked about the 24 hr pass & was told it would be $10. Like really? Your dues are $9.99 for the month and you're going to charge a potential member to try your gym for 1 day? Smh sorry but that was a big fail. Update ... apparently either someone saw my review or its coincidence but the benches that had cracks have been repaired with maybe a type of black tape and the mirror has been re hung. Kudos if someone paid attention. So lets try this again ... a few of the lockers are broken, locks just twist non stop, not sure on the fans being cleaned or not since they are running non stop for summer. There are cameras in the gym, so how about charging a fee to the repeat offenders that don't rerack their weights. I bumped up the star rating by one star. Gym use to be great and well maintained, but now its going down hill. Luckily machines have finally been fixed, but the general up keep is lacking. Its great they are now 24 hours but now the gym is constantly an unorganized mess with not having staff there to open and close the place with a clean up. Weights lay about, benches and equipment all over the place, weights not re racked, trash and bottles lay around. Broken bathroom door that they have a sign up on how to work it vs fixing it, mirror in bathroom has fallen down and just sits on the counter, ceiling fans covered in old built up black grimy dust, benches are in need of being replaced or recovered. Location, 24 hours and size are all great. Just would hope that with them only having this one location now that they would maintain. read more

Ok here goes. Definitely not a smart gym. More like a scam gym. There's a reason so many of the reviews talk about billing scams. They wheel you in with a smooth talking owner who of course naturally only cares about your money. He's been on me for months calling and texting which is very irritating to sign up for classes. When I finally gave in, he told me it would be for 3 months only. But of course, he knows he's gonna scam you with recurring billing oh and if you cancel, you're still going to get billed an additional cycle cus it's mid "billing cycle." Pathetic and disgraceful. I should have known having read so many comments on yelp about all of these billing frauds and sadly he admitted it to me himself blaming a third party. That's fine, take your money. Go ahead and scam people. But in the end you will lose customers. People go to gyms to connect and feel happy and safe about going there. Instead you create this negativity because the whole time it's all about money for you and not peoples well being. Updating my review ... AGAIN. There are way too much overturn at this gym. But, the reason for this update is due to the "revisions" the new owner has made. My contract states that my membership includes a guest. Without proper notice, they changed the guest privileges from every day to "weekends only" .. which is fine. About a month ago, I brought a guest in on a Saturday. My guest was not allowed in. The receptionists reasoning was "because Andrew said no more guest privileges" ... I was never notified of this. If something is in my signed contract, you can't just change it. I just received an email about a deal for no enrollment fees through March 04th.. it states there are guest privileges that ARE INCLUDED in the membership on the weekends. Either I was lied to when I tried to bring in my guest, or they are trying to get people to sign up who really do not have guest privileges. read more

The gym has never been my thing. Meat heads and jerks lol according to popular belief. However Reina Miranda, a hard working mom and Spartan, mentioned Smart gym on one of our many runs. For months tried to get me into that place. I finally walked in. Immediately I was greeted by Jose. Customer service is on point with this guy. I've worked out with him. He's a beast. Very helpful. From giving me every piece of information needed to feel confident before making my Investment. To while in class, always making sure that I succeed. Corey immediately talked shit. It was official, I'm now being targeted. He's tough, and he proves it while he's breaking your every move down, making sure it's precise, quick, and deadly. He knows your body, your strength, your ability ability to tolerate and exploits it. If you like him during your work outs you'll need to pick it up a bit, he'll let you know. Then it's over, you wake up out of a trance, but without the ability to breathe. You feel every second of your work out. Every rep made you stronger, and know how every dollar was invested. You then realize, You can't wait until you go into battle again, to reach that better you. Even if it nearly kills you. Steven's class is torture. It's a fight gone wrong every day. My head is spinning, my lungs are burning. I'm throwing weight around and it hurts. Never thought I could do this. For years it has been something none could motivate me to do. This guy is hard on your body. You will break PR's every time. It's almost unreasonable the amount and quality of return i've received here. My investment is safe here. It's clean. It's friendly. It's competitive classes are filled with someone you can relate to. And all are high quality individuals, employing great amounts of energy in the reach of a similar goal, while in the execution of tried and true methods. This establishment Is clearly led by talented athletes, and instructors. It's clear they love what they do, and care about your success. Yeah a squeaky hinge might need some grease, and the trash needs some taking out. Be here to train your body, and not your ability to complain. It's been Only 2 weeks and seeing results. I feel like this place has a mixture of upsides and downsides, and depending on what you're looking for in a gym this review may or may not be helpful. I'm writing this as somebody who essentially wants to go in and do compound lifts with good equipment in peace. That's permissible given their facility. I will caution that if you happen to have a schedule that aligns with their busy hours (tends to be weekday nights like most gyms) you may have a problem. Specifically with there only being one squat rack. Granted, it is a beautiful squat rack, but that along with an issue I'll address later may drive you away from this gym. Like I said earlier, their biggest upside is that they have nice, well maintained equipment. I've never had a day where I went in and I didn't get to use something that I wanted to use because it was broken or being repaired. I've had that issue before with other gyms, and it's frustrating. This gym is also pretty small, so there are only two flat benches and two incline benches, along with a rather small dumbbell section that can get jammed up quickly if it's busy. There are all the machines you could need, but I have a nitpick about them not having a pec fly machine that also doubles as a rear delt fly machine. Now on to what I don't like about this place, which is two fundamental things. The first, is that 1/3 of their space is gated off only to XGT (their CrossFit style classes) members. So if you want to go in and do more calisthenic work, you have to shell out for a premium membership. And it makes it hard to do squats or deadlifts, since you only have one rack available to you if you don't have that room available to you. The next big issue I have is with memberships. My experience is that when I initially signed up, I was an XGT member, but I didn't need the classes and wanted to change my membership. It took two billing cycles before they dropped it down to the most basic membership. The other reviews may give you a better idea of their membership practices, so if you're interested in signing up make sure you nail down the specifics with their sales rep. Protect yourself. At the end of the day, it accomplishes what I need it to do for the time being, and there are probably worse options you could pursue. Just make sure it fits with your goals before you commit, and try to avoid the shady stuff they may pull with memberships. read more

Everybody at the front desk is so welcoming and this place is CLEAN! Unlike other gyms. Plus, they have standing tanning/massage beds! Awesome place for my family and I! Great coaches that push you past what you thought you could do and help you become stronger and believe in yourself! I started coming to this gym with my husbands encouragement! I never wanted to go to a gym, didn't know what to do at a gym, and was very intimated! I decided to try it be sure it is in a smaller facility. We immediately began the XGT classes with Jose and Corey! They have been so helpful in teaching us techniques and form and the amount of weight we can handle with tons of patience! They are very educated with working with people and form and weights and all that's involved! I feel we're addicted lol to how great we feel! I'm stronger and doing more then I ever thought I could. The people in the classes are uplifting and positive. Great atmosphere and highly recommended! The water massager is awesome also! Overall I like this gym! Josh and Corey are GREAT! I signed up for 3 months of personal training, and was charged a 4th month, $140 on April 17th and still have NOT received my $140 refund!! This place is awesome! The staff are all super friendly and outgoing. I didn't see any hidden fees or things that pop up as they do in a regular style gym. They were straightforward with me showed me all the different amenities and the different things and I was able to pick exactly what I wanted. This place is never too crowded and on the slight occasion that you come in at the peak hour, everyone is friendly that is willing to share the equipment. It's very clean gym. You can even purchase a key fob which allows you in the gym outside of their normal hours of operation, making it a 24 hour gym. Definitely a little gem! read more

I asked about the initiation fee and he made a smart aleck remark about joining for $1 then blew me off. What a joke of a business man. He acted totally unprofessional. Did you ever wish your Box (CrossFit gym) had some of the amenities a regular gym offers? I know a lot of the big name gyms are starting to add or incorporate CrossFit type areas into their repertoire. But they are usually pretty small and miss the mark. This is the first place I've seen that literally gives you the both of best worlds. I haven't had a chance to attend one of the classes or see the coaches in action. Assuming it will be decent. I feel like more of those struggling boxes should follow this format to appeal to more people. read more
