Paid for the service only, collected the car and made the effort to take the car to a trusted workshop on the Sunshine Coast (owned by my uncle) for a second diagnosis. Some of the issues Daniel cited as requiring attention were legitimate, some could be described as "erring on the side of caution" and some were 100% completely fabricated and false. The difference was $1100 from Daniel's quote to the second quote. I understand some mechanics might get a little creative in assessing what needs to be fixed on a car to benefit their bottom line, but this is an example of sheer dishonesty, no two ways about it. I don't like bringing down a business in this way, but scamming gougers like Daniel do not deserve the business they enjoy, and non-mechanically minded consumers like myself deserve better. If you are looking for a trustworthy, honest mechanic, do not take your vehicle to Daniel's Mechanical.

Thought it would be a quick fix recon refill. Jack frost shattered all my ideas. Arrived at the business premises to get it filled up. The 2 IC assisted me as the receptionist was out . Quoted me the call out rate of $99 instead of $66 - I only found out when the receptionist quoted somebody over the phone while I was waiting. Two minutes later the mechanic reported that he cant check the A/C as the fanbelts are all to worn and needed replacement. I reluctantly agreed. Two hours later and just before closing time the mechanic advised me via the receptionist that the idler pulley ceased and that he can put that belt back. He also said the A/C would not be cost effective to repair. Gave me a discount for the one belt that was not installed -the bill $366 - after discount $325 -got home ,saw the belt that was not replaced was the A/C belt. I bought a new belt ,$25 from repco, took me 10 min to fit = regassed A/C AT DIFFERENT WORKSHOP for $85 . Now the question is how did they test the aircon if they didnt replace the a/c belt as they suggested the only way was to test the A/C. : reviews are there to inform you of what really happens , not just good ones picked from a list You know the facts now , you decide if you trust these guys!!!!

I do have to add a disclaimer that the extended time may have been my fault, as I was asked if I needed my car back by a particular time and I made the potential mistake of saying I had the day off and was going to wander around the suburb, "so no hurry". I was advised that I'd get a phone call before any work above and beyond the service's standard labour was done - "should be soon, around an hour or so". Three hours later (when I was a bit done with wandering) I figured I'd better call them, in case they'd gotten my number wrong or their calls hadn't been going through while I was burning through data on my phone, or some other excuse. No worries, hey! They only just had my car up on the blocks. Again, like I said, I will claim responsibility for the delay. Make sure you give ABS a pick-up time and I reckon everything should be fine. I was quoted decent prices (eventually, but still in advance) for the additional stuff my car needed, the gents were all lovely, and in the end the timing turned out quite well for me - I got the "come and get it" call just as I'd finished lunch. I would definitely entrust my car's servicing to Bob and the crew at ABS Woolloongabba again.

[While they were on the phone with someone else.] The real kicker came about a week after I got my car back. Four friends and I were going on a tour of nearby retirement villages when someone piped up from the back about not having a clasp on their seat belt. I fiddled around and found the problem. When the people at McAully's took out the back seat to make repairs, the clasp had fallen behind the seat. When they placed it all back in, the clasp remained under there, forever wedged, like a walrus in a corset. Lacking the manly know how or tools to perform the operation myself, I drove around to McAully's the next day and went to the reception to explain the problem. 'No,' they said. 'We're not liable for that,' and promptly went back to giggling on the phone. Well I never. Until this is fixed, my posse has been reduced by one member. The place is always busy, as I drive by it regularly, but the thought of going away from my Mitsubishi dealer service was somewhat daunting; now, I can only imagine how much money I would have saved if only I'd gone there for service years ago. Andrew Burrows, the owner, and his team are great people to work with.
