Back in college, I often drop by Hidalgo Street in Quiapo for my film photography class to have photos developed. My route from LRT Carriedo is probably what any wise person would take, which is the route that will pass by the most air-conditioned places. So after getting off the LRT, I go through Isetann (that is connected to the station, yay), go down the ground floor, cross the street to enter SM Quiapo (also known as SM Clearance Outlet) for more shameless pangpapalamig, then out the exit on the other site that's in front of Hidalgo street itself.
On one trip it was heavily pouring, so I had no choice but to duck inside SM for a while to wander around until the rain stops as it's really a stupid idea to wander around Quiapo on a rainy day if you love your shoes. I was so surprised how much good, CHEAP stuff there is here! Well DUH, it is called "Clearance Outlet" for a reason. The women's clothing section is filled with so much good finds. If you're looking to update your wardrobe with some basics, go here. Footwear to is cheap! Though of course styles are limited, as well as sizes, I bet you can still find something here. I have bought several tops, pants, and some shoes here.
Also, this place conveniently has BDO ATM at the ground floor, so if you're in the area needing some quick cash, this is probably the most convenient and safest place to withdraw some money.
The place is quite dated (it is the first SM ever, so that's expected), and people just LOOOOVE to sit on the staircase and clog it for FOREVER until they all inhale the air-conditioned air. But y'know. Cheap stuff here! read more
