The look and feel is very similar to strip malls in the US, where there are a few hand-picked merchants providing everything one needs in a single stop. They have CR-King, David's Salon, California Nails, Cebuana Lhuillier, Japan Home Centre, Handyman, Robinsons Appliances, OMF Literature Bookshop and Western Union as the more familiar shops. They also have small ones that have interesting items such as Too Nice, Runway, Red Carpet Shoes, Jazz House of Gifts, Go Ape Boutique, Golden 3 Pet Supplies, Funky Plum, Dainty Bold Accessories, Little Town School and Office Supply and Cosmetics Korea. They have several beauty places aside from David's such as Glam Salon, Lash Stuidio, Luna Dermatologica, Nature's Cradle Spa, Taylor Tyler Salon and Robots & Dolls Kids Salon. They also have a lot of food choices for the hungry shopper including: Big Better Burger, Bon Chon, Café France, Fat Melts, Ichnigo, Jin's Kimbab, King Katsu, Reyes BBQ, Kopiroti, Sophia's Mediterranean Cuisine and Yellow. They have a few kiosk in the open air area such as Zagu, Waffle Time Takoyaking, Pongalapong Bibingka, Potato Corner, Pink Cub Scrambles, Nacho King, Miggy Wiggy Ice Cream, Master Siomai, Inikot Kanin, Fruitas, Don' Original Spanish Churros and Empanada Mas. In the open area, they have a children's play center which has foam tiles and Little Tykes play houses and slides. Our kids love playing there - it pretty safe and clean. This is a great way to relax and cool off after finishing you BF Ruins shopping. Plus there are great deals there, too. I found a children's shoes in Japan Home Center for 2 pairs at P88!

BF Homes is a neighborhood abundant with all sorts of businesses (mostly restaurants, bars, and everything Korean), and being a ginormous subdivision, it makes sense that there should be some sort of mall here. Though, Pergola Mall is quite small to be called a "mall". It's mostly Robinson's Supermarket, a food court (with free wi-fi) upstairs, Handyman, some restaurants and a few salons and stores. And, it is worth mentioning that there is a Japan Home Centre here, which is always(!) a good thing. It's a very laid back place to spend a lazy afternoon, or get some errands done. You've got toddlers? There's a tiny playground in the middle, and some benches. You can also bring your pooch. They've also got some zumba/other physical type of exercise on the 2nd floor activity area as well if you're into that. Good food places here include Sophia's, a Mediterranean restaurant.. well actually that's probably about it that's worth mentioning. For cafes, there's a Kopi Roti and a Cafe France. This place has seen better days, and businesses do come and go. But its always been an OK place to grab some groceries, get some quick school supplies (at Little Town) and maybe a quick coffee or two. Or... you know, leech onto their free-wifi like those people who hang out at the 2nd floor food court.

The Venice Grand Canal Mall - They take retail mall space up several levels here. And this is considered a more dated version.

I spent a lot of time here. As soon as you walk into the mall, it doesn't feel like you're in the Philippines anymore. The canal was nice to see during the day and at night. You can even take a gondola through the canal. They also have an area where you can feed pigeons seeds. They have a lot of the stores and the restaurants that we have in the US. I was joking around saying that I traveled 7200 miles to eat at a Denny's in the Philippines. Lol. And you know I had to hit up the Uniqlo here! Will I be back? Of course. Especially if I stay at the same Airbnb. I'll see you when I see you Venice Grand Canal Mall!

Encircling this mall are apartments, condos and office towers. The mall offers a lot: a supermarket; bookstores; fast food and casual dining restaurants; a multi-screen movie theater; spaces for dance and play--and a lot of retail shopping. You can also buy tickets for a gondola ride or rent a swan boat. This location provided an opportunity for me to people watch; examine products and brands unfamiliar to me; and to price compare goods in the PHL, versus back home. It was interesting.

At the end of the day it was still the same to me. It was still that local mall. Small, middle class, and a reminder of where I came from. Having something like this in your life is a reminder how things change, not necessarily grow, as time marches forward and at the same time how some things will never change. There's a Puregold grocery, a variety of small restaurants, and stalls that sell a wide variety of different products ranging from cheap phones to health and nutrition supplies. I'm actually quite astonished that I find some of the things that I do in this place. It's also my usual go to place whenever I'm looking for something to snack on.

There's so much to write about with regards to Starmall, but et me focus on why I have recently loved it more. I've always been wary of the cinemas at Starmall, which is right outside our village. I guess it's the stigma of not liking so much what you have right in front of you. It took my fixation for Vin Diesel and The Fast and The Furious franchise that I let my defenses down and said yes to watching a movie there. "Wow." That's what I said when we were buying tickets. Good thin, yes. At PhP250, I got to watch the movie in 3D and got a bucket of popcorn. Now wasn't that a good deal? I didn't even have to spend for gas to head to the mall. Best part is that since it's relatively new and not a lot of people watch here, the cinema is clean (well it 'feels' clean) and the seats are comfortable. I could even be bold enough to compare the whole experience to watching in Greenbelt or maybe Power Plant. Don't believe me? Come over and I'll watch a movie with you. That's my guarantee.

There are arcades, boba spots, cafes, archery, bakery class, digital art museum, nail salon, hair salon etc and even a sports arena that holds concerts too. We came across a couple of artists promoting music and there was a stage and sound set-up in one of the big spaces. I got to say though, the most recent time I came here I was very grossed out by the strong smell of the ice skating rink!!! It feels as if there isn't enough cleaning done on those ice skate rentals and it totally put off me and the rest of our group from entering in to see the prices. I don't remember the spot stinking so much pre-COVID so that's very unfortunate. It's across from one of the food courts in the mall too. You can eat food of various types!!! Food court options or literal restaurants. I definitely think coming here for two days is best but you can still explore a majority of the mall in one day. I like the security for checking bags upon entry when going into the different buildings. Expect a ton of banks, restaurants and stores. A BIG PLUS. If you are struggling to find a store, ask one of the security personnel inside. They immediately know the directions on where to go and were super impressive in their knowledge!!! The staff here in the Philippines are very courteous and professional. Always a good visit to come here especially to enjoy the AC also.
