I tried badminton for a while and I was pretty okay with it, but whenever my boyfriend and I play, I never really win. I can't play basketball because I can't get the form right and I can't do soccer or futsal because there's just too much running involved. There is one sport I actually enjoy playing and am decent at - bowling! Although I seldom go, it's usually the SM Bowling Center in Megamall that my family and I choose when we're in the mood for some fun. It's a great family bonding experience and I think we've gone to the bowling alley in Megamall 3 or 4 times already. The bowling alley is new and super spacious - great if you're playing in big groups like we usually do. But one-on-one games aren't so bad either. My boyfriend and I sometimes play against each other and it's still super fun. They also have a few billiards table and even some PSP games! Like most bowling centers, this one offers some snacks and drinks. We ordered a beer tower once and it definitely helped make the game funnier! I wouldn't recommend their snacks though. I once ordered one of their cheeseburgers and it just seemed like one I can get from Burger Machine (although Burger Machine is da bomb). I would definitely recommend this place if you're looking for a different type of activity in the mall. If you've watched all the movies currently showing or just too full to grab some grub, maybe you'd like to while your time away here!

The heyday of bowling and billiards has come and gone. Efren "Bata" Reyes and Paeng Nepomuceno are…read moreno longer the icons of Philippine sports; the Azkals are. And therefore, the corner "bilyarans" are gone, and the big malls no longer have bowling alleys. But even though the dust has settled on these once-popular pastimes, AMF-Puyat Superbowl in Makati Square still stands. It's fitting that it's located in Makati Square (once Makati Cinema Square), another relic from a bygone era. Stepping into Superbowl is like stepping into the 1980's; the lanes look the same as ever, the shoes haven't been replaced since the mid-90's (at least, that's what I believe), but man, it still does feel fun to bowl. I've still bowled occasionally (both for fun and in an inter-office tournament) the last 3 years, and as long as the balls still roll, the pins still get picked up, and the scores still add up correctly, there's no reason not to come back to AMF-Puyat Superbowl.

I have to give this place four stars for several reasons. I didn't expect to find an AMF Bowling…read morecenter in The Philippines! This place has 42 lanes, no joke, that's a lot of capacity. They also have a few nice pool tables in the back. They have done an excellent job keeping their lanes in top condition, as evidenced by the freshly oiled lanes. Today is Monday and it's 10:00pm, there's only two other lanes in use, this place is dead. The privacy is really nice, as I didn't bring my bowling balls to Asia. That wouldn't go over too well with all of the weight requirements airlines charge for, not to mention, I'm a white man and don't need to bring my white trash side to Asia!!! The downside is, the house bowling balls (OF COURSE) which is to be expected anywhere you go. My brother-in-laws were telling me that they have several duck pin/candle pin bowling centers here in The Philipines. I would really like to try duck pin bowling, as it's a lost sport in The USA and can only be found in a handful of places through the country (mainly New England). This place appears to have a pro-shop and the staff did tell me that this place does an incredible amount of business, however, they are between leagues and school just started for K-Graduate University. I really love the warmth and kindness of the people here, too bad we Americans don't use the same respect around each other. This goes for most places in Asia I've been to (almost everywhere). I've never had a problem with anyone in Asia, of course I do my best to learn as much as I can about the various places I visit. I would recommend a visit to this place if you happen to be in the area, very accommodating and my family and I had a great time.

Ahhh bowling, if there was ever a sport that looked weird to me as a kid it was people throwing (or…read morerolling, tossing? I dunno) humongous balls down an alley to knock down a couple of white pins that reminded me of penguins. I didn't really understand bowling until I watched this really funny movie about people playing bowling. And then I watched several TV shows showing how bowling seems to be the sport of choice of 30-40 something American dads that live in suburbia. Anyway, I used to go to SM Bowling back in the old days with some of the my old friends. When I say old, I do mean friends who were old, or at least older than I was. We would make asses out of ourselves and didn't really cared about the score. So yeah, its a biased score, but imagine all the stupid and hilarious situations you'd find yourselves in when you play bowling.

A few months back, my friends and I trekked to the bowling alley in SM Megamall for a night of bowling. And boy, did we have loads of fun! At only Php 165 per game per person, it is very affordable. The place itself is pretty clean and well maintained. Since there is an in-house food kiosk that sells the usual burgers, hotdogs and fries, bringing in food from restaurants outside is not allowed. But if you're out to drink too, the place also serves beer. If bowling isn't your cup of tea, there's also a dedicated space for playing billiards and a number of KTV rooms are also up for rent.

I'm not sure how it is now, but it used to be a nightmare for one to manually sign up to one's desired classes if you didn't get them through the computerized system. Sure, you'd have priority if you were a freshman or graduating student, but if you were particularly unlucky, you could be begging to get a PE class just to be able to graduate on time. I certainly survived those trying years and I lucked out on getting a duckpin bowling class for one of my four PE requirements. Duckpin bowling is an experience, I will tell you. Students at the class trooped to the vintage Alumni Center to roll fist-sized wooden balls along the wooden, uneven floors to try to down ten, small pins, which would then be reset by men behind the bowling alleys, who you could only be identified by their hands and feet. One could only hope to get a good, flat aisle and put enough strength and finesse into the ball so that it hits straight onto the pins. After several sessions we had already pinned down which aisles were the best, but teams had to switch aisles all the time. We were graded on this, mind you. Although there was hardly anything athletic about it, it was still a trip. Good news is, this is an experience that can be shared by everyone, for about twenty pesos a game! Get a jeep on down to the UP Alumni Center and have some cheap, PE-style fun!
