Having visited last week and been satisfied but not impressed, I enjoyed my visit significantly…read moremore this time: the staff were attentive and friendly, and visible enough to find if there was a problem. While there still weren't many people in the place (rather expected for midday on a Tuesday!), the vibe was much more pleasant. Perhaps I just caught the staff on an off day last time? Either way, it was a very enjoyable visit. However, I would still absolutely prefer if there were direction signs to the bowling/restaurant/skating that weren't just printed on the floor, given the low lighting makes them hard to read!

Whether you want to…read morelearn to ice skate, try your hand at a game of ten pin bowling, enjoy a drink in the bar or sample some of our freshly prepared food the choice is yours. If you are a teenager group or a family looking for an activity on a rainy Sunday, this might be a fun place to go. The good thing about ice rank is that it is indoors and unlike any other place you even can go ice-skating in summer. The equipment all can be hired at the reception. Funny enough I was invited to a birthday to Queens. Even though it is original I did not really enjoy, as we were all grown up girls skating one round after the other. Not to mention this was summer! But pop icon Madonna and Guy Ritchie celebrated their son Rocco's 6th birthday at Queens then I am sure it I good enough for you little ones!

Alas, it wasn't to be...I clung to the barrier like some bandy-kneed bambi while teenagers wizzed past at break-neck speeds, oh well I'm sure I have other talents.... Ok, so I may not be the best ice skater, but this sure was fun, and I did improve during the course of my hour long session "hey look, no hands!" The setting is gorgeous, especially at night when the pavilion is lit up beautifully. You can book a one hour session from 10am until 9.15pm. We went for the 8pm slot but in hindsight we should have gone for the 9.15 as it was so much quieter. It's not a huge ice rink but it certainly fulfilled my needs. It even has a separate area for the little ones with plastic penguins to aid balance (maybe I should have borrowed one of those!). At £11 a pop it's reasonably expensive, but worth it for such a fun evening. I was very excited to hear that there was a pop-up Due South restaurant here, this being one of my favourite places to eat in Brighton. Unfortunately, it doesn't really live up to it's main branch - the food is pretty good but the service was slow and they got some of the order wrong. However, with views over the ice rink, it's great to sit and watch people try to skate and makes you feel much better about your own lack of skill and balance!!

This is what we were told by one of the staff members but we couldn't be bothered to listen and brought the camera on anyway and took lots of amazing photos. They played fun music, the staff were helpful, the ice was well-maintained and clean and it was an overall great time. For spectators, there's a tent where you can eat and have drinks...but why not join in the fun? Deals: there's a student discount if you book online via Ticketmaster and during the X-mas season, skaters can get 1/2 price entry into the Royal Pavilion. So why not grab your boyfriend/girlfriend or friends and come by for a skate?

A wide range of facilities, we go for 1) The ice skating,…read morewhich was renovated summer 2010 2) The swimming pool, which has long sessions, diving boards, a large teaching pool (shallow and warmer) and an outdoor pool in the summer The morning public skating sessions have background music, it's louder in the afternoon and there are disco sessions in the evenings, so take your pick. There are clubs and lessons for figure skating and ice hockey too. Where our local pool has hourly sessions and a mad rush for changing rooms at either end, we like the come and go whenever at Riverside. We also like the diving boards, 1m and 3m springboards, 5m platform (not always open - check website for times); great fun but rare elsewhere. A junior membership card is great value: my son skates every week so it's cheaper than paying for public sessions and he gets to swim for free too. It even includes parking when using the centre; casual users get a parking refund when paying but the pass avoids the ticket machine hassle. I also appreciate that the vending machines are not overpriced. What's wrong with it? Some complain the swim changing rooms are a little tired; they're not the greatest but they're perfectly satisfactory and you get your £1 back from the reasonably sized lockers. The flume in the pool has been out of commission since 2010, this was something we all loved when it was open - fix this for the fifth star The skating sessions get crowded while Dancing on Ice is on TV.

I came into today for the first time to open a anytime aqua membership and asked for a tour before that. The tour was quick and helpful but I later found out why she didn't show me the showers.. they're the worst part about the facility. Only 6 private shower heads in a small room in the back (only speaking for the female/right side). No private shower stalls and not enough circulation to get stuffy smells out . Bottom of the pool is slippery and has many stains. Pool and lanes are very large and wide. Water was warm in pool and showers which is a plus! I do like their locker system (you put in a pound and it returns to you when you unlock it with your key that's attached to a water proof bracelet). There were a lot of children running around but I like that because it makes it feel safe and family orientated. Negative because floors and titles were not clean- might need some renovation. There's a lot of changing rooms and they are rarely ever all filled up (I wish they would turn those into private showers) and some missing hooks to hang clothes. I also got a tour of the gym. It's one room. About 6-8 treadmills and area where there's weights facing a mirror. This room gets packed during 5-7pm, the changing room is upstairs, and lockers have a number pad to open. The front desk and waiting area is nice. All the ladies at the front are superb as they carry great attitudes. This place isn't the cleanest but it will do for those who just want to get in and out.

Thank you to Marianne W. who reminded me of this. I can't believe I missed reviewing it back in…read more2010 when I went to a double-header match on 13-November. I remember hearing about it at a Yelp Elite event from the wonderful Lizzie G. but that was in the before times when Yelp had an international presence and actual Elite Events like WestFest https://www.yelp.com/biz/yelps-westfest-london?hrid=aVjHefRH-DhIDyr7P2qXcA and Yelp Will Rock You at the O2 https://www.yelp.com/biz/yelp-will-rock-you-london?hrid=em9CEJmV25oxTTKCZWu1EQ. I made my way into London to do some exploring that day and at the end of the evening, took the tube over to West Ken and the Olympia https://www.yelp.com/biz/olympia-london-london?hrid=89_b4LlfuSY8nUEmk80Kkg for the event. Bad ass women with clever monikers like "Crucial Taunt" and "Bad Faith", kicking butts and taking names while skating in circles. My night's match was the Ultraviolent Femmes vs The SuffraJets and while I can't remember who won. But it was fun to watch the sport and I had a great time. They're still skating. You'll find me at every game, standing at the side line, cheering these brave ladies on. Seriously, this has to be the most amount of fun you can have sober on a Saturday night in London. I've been twice now and every time I leave I thinking "Wow, that was fun. I want to take part!" Obviously, I fear for my own life and would never actually have the balance or skill to be able to do what these ladies do, but it's a serious amount of fun. There is beer, wine and donuts. That's me happy for the night! It's strange but it's a real family event too, which I didn't expect. Loads of kids there supporting their mums. Boyfriends, friends and dads screaming for their lady friends to beat the F#@king crap out of the other team. In the nicest way possible of course. I just have to say that last night when we were watching, Kamakazi Kitten who was the lead Jammer in the first bout, you are my hero. This woman is tiny and so fast. She really did make the whole game so exciting. When I grow up. I want to be just like you!
