I'm from Berlin and this restaurant reminds me a lot of Berlin restaurants. The staff is relaxed and the food is good. The less-than-5-star rating is for location, setting, and ambiance, but make no mistake - - this is spitzen-pizza. Was there twice, and the buffalo mozzarella with prosciutto was something I drool about today. The essence of great Neapolitan is fresh, luscious tomato, with just enough flavor accent from the cheese or more to keep it interesting, and this was, indeed, first rate. The best pizza in Hamburg. I must have had pizza from at least 20 different places, and there are are a lot of great pizzas to be had around here, but for my money SlimJims is definitely the best. When I first went they had a 3 goats cheese pizza of the week with pesto. It was amazing. I went for the second time yesterday and had a goats cheese, apple & carrot with balsamic sauce pizza - again it was pretty amazing (check out the photos). Berlin-style restaurant middle of Hamburg. Basically that means industrial, "vintage" interior....which I like. Very simple but effective. Basically benches and tables to sit at. The guys who work here are all a bit "hipster" but are actually nice as opposed to Berlin pricks who are always annoying. You order at the counter and pick up your pizza (and whatever else you've ordered) there. There is a menu above the counter to pick from and there are usually one or two "specials" on offer which vary on a regular basis. These guys make everything fresh so they do run out when they're out. Kind of annoying as someone else wrote when what the run out of is beer but to be honest, I'm happy about this. It shows they're making stuff fresh every day and I prefer good, fresh stuff as opposed to leftover crap. Come a bit earlier than you regularly would and you'll find everything you need. This is thin-crust pizza so don't complain about it being too thin. I like my pizza this way. I hate American style, super thick crust pizza. Not my thing! This is Italian-style pizza and not only is the crust thin, they get just the right amount of crunchiness to it. Super well executed right there in front of you on site. You see the dude actually making your pizza while you wait so you can prove to yourself that it's the good stuff. Obviously this place is no longer a "secret". Was pretty full the whole time we were there and a bunch of people came in and left with 5 or 6 pies. Obviously people are ordering in and picking up for parties or whatnot. I hope their popularity doesn't allow for the quality of the pizza to go down. God forbid these guys become pricks after being successful because no matter how good the pizza is, it's all about the combination of things here. I'll be back as the quality simply can't be beat in Hamburg. If you're into hanging out, eating some good pizza and throwing back a couple tasty beers in a relaxed atmosphere with friends, I highly recommend dropping in here. read more

It's got the St. Pauli checklist: free table football, beer fridge, stand-up tables incredibly friendly couple running it and making bloody lovely pizzas for you. What a great find. As Phil says, right by the number 3 bus stop lies Slim Jims. If St. Pauli made pizza they'd probably be the best pizzas in the world. comes to mind when I think of Slim Jims. Beer fridge, wooden flooring, chilled atmosphere, tables made of large chunks of felled tree, and quite simply the best pizzas in town. The people who run this place seem really nice, they make the dough there and then, and the selection of pizza is great. Last night I tried an asparagus and hollandaise sauce as it was pizza of the week. I think you can certainly rely on these guys to pick some cracking topping combinations. The base is thin, hand crafted and the topping is fresh. The service is quick, and the beer fridge is full. The only 'negative' aspect is that Slim Jims doesn't seem to get much passing trade. So pay homage to some top quality pizza and drop by sometime. read more

We were the only people in the shop, the cook's only words were: 7EUR30 It's not an aesthetically nice place but the pizza is good, so this is the only thing that matters. However i am not sure ill be back. I have eaten here a few times with friends and what I like about it is that the pizzas are tasty, they are a good size (seems huge but it is a thin crust), served on a cool wooden board, and inexpensive. Sometimes it takes awhile after you order, but at least you know its fresh and HOT from the oven so make sure to let it cool down, unless you like burning your tastebuds ;) I like the tuna fish with onions and mushrooms, I feel I get all my basic food groups with that order and reasonably healthy, considering I am eating pizza. read more

Excellent hand made pizzas. As it is Spargel (asparagus) season in Germany right now, I had to try the asparagus, hollandaise sauce and new potatoes pizza. I know it sounds odd. But it really worked. This is a pop in and grab a pizza place not a place necessarily for a long relaxed dinner. But with pizza quality this high, then that is all you need. read more

Slim Jims is a very nicely decorated and alternative pizza restaurant. The staff is very nice and helpful. There is a huge variety of pizzas on the menu, which is written on blackboards. The Pizzas taste pretty good. You have to order the pizza at the counter and then pick it up when your name is called. From the outside it is not obvious that there is a pizza place inside so be careful not to walk past it. read more

Most favorite place for pizza. I just love the selection of toppings - my suggestion: Turkish sausage (sucuk) with feta cheese and balsamico! I believe they had it with roasted pumpkin seeds as a special once and since then I have been ordering it on each visit. Yummyliscious pizza. Fresh toppings with a great selection. Thin and crispy base and not dripping in mozzarella so you don't get a river of grease in the middle. Very affordable base pizza at about 5euro and you pay per topping after that. Cosy place and you're sure to find a seat if you wait while your pizza is in the oven. read more
