There is a unique "village" feel to the Selden which always makes it a nice place to go to, whether it's for a quick pint, a whole evening or for food. It's not a restaurant, but it's fine, honest food, at a good price, served well in nice surroundings. We like eating there and have done so as a couple, or with friends many times and keep returning for more. Thoroughly recommended.

Reasonable prices and quick service, ordering on the app is easy and efficient. The inside and outside of the pub was clean. I split an order of chicken wings (of course, they are the best!!) and a spicy meat pizza - wow, it was much spicer than I anticipated! The bathroom was relatively easy to find compared to some other Spoons locations, which may be downstairs and/or far down a winding corridor. Seagull watching was incredibly entertaining - there was a young bird with it's mum learning how to beg and snatch up the scraps before the table is cleared. My friend and I, visiting from America and from a different part of England, found it adorable; however, I'm sure the employees and locals get annoyed. As a Spoons enthusiast, I would definitely return if I was in the area again :)

On a Friday or Saturday night, this place is packed. I think that the only thing that slows the drinking process for all involved is the huge crush at the bar. The "no music" policy of Wetherspoons makes the atmosphere more "busted chainsaw" than "buzzy" with the shouting hordes hooting and hollering, but this place is capacious enough to house them capably. Obviously all of the usual formulaic Wetherspoons fixtures, fittings and failures are present and correct, and sure, Hatters is not anywhere near as crazy the other five days of the week, but for me and many, many others it exists for one reason only...

It is a converted church, hence the name, and its highlight is the upper galleried floor. The place is round in shape, so from the front of the upstairs, you can look over the railing down onto the madness below. Partly for this reason, it is a popular place to watch football - get here early if you're here to watch a game. There is no pretension or trendiness about this place- it is a bold, busy pub to get drunk in and eat some cheap food. However, there is nothing wrong with that, and it can be surprisingly relaxing in the quieter daytimes.

The only minor problem is, it gets so busy you might have to share a seat or wait ten minutes until someone leaves. Luckily, the atmosphere is usually so good I don't mind. Downstairs there's comfy leather arm chairs and sofas whilst upstairs is a mix of sofas and wooden tables and chairs. I've never been on a Sunday but I believe the Sunday Roast here is pretty tasty and there's a good choice of different meat and veggie dishes to choose from. The bar also stocks a great range of spirits, bottled beers and ales - which makes it a great place to pop in for a Guiness after a long, windy walk on the sea-front.

Here was one cosy, homely little snug. I like the name first off because I'm a Shakespeare nut. But let's think for a moment, what exactly is a globe? It's a world in miniature, a microcosm if you will, and aptly, this pub is somewhere that has universal appeal. As a result you'll find all walks of life in here, from work suits to artists, blue collars to writers. I'm pleased to see all the Yelp love for my first Brighton pub experience. I suppose I'll always look at it with rose-tinted glasses - it was the day I got my nose pierced, the day I left my office job, the day I discovered Yelp, the evening I dined al fresco in October (thank you, weird and wonderful Brighton weather), the evening the BF wowed the crowd with his kerazee guitar skills and all in all my Brighton debut. As soon as I had a pear cider in my hand, sibling and friends by my side, I thought, I really could live here. And the Globe's exactly the kind of pub I'd happily have as my local.
