Comprehensive Sleep Center

Comprehensive Sleep Center

Last year I went went through testing, diagnosis, and fitting with Comprehensive Sleep Center, and…read moreit was certainly not comprehensive. The short of my experiences: * Zero medical history gathered about Asthma * Avoidance/Defensiveness when I wanted to discuss how my Asthma might impact this process - "We. Are. Not. Pulminologists." In their director/ supervisor/NP's words. *Over worked, understaffed technicians, with more equipment options than time to show or even describe * No trauma informed care * Condescension regarding my personal self care practices (breathing exercises/ meditation) * Out of line recommendation for getting a prescription My initial test was at home. My consult after was by video call, and lasted approximately 10 min. It felt rushed, and was the beginning of feeling like I'd been put through a cattle run. The woman who met with me seemed agitated. I barley had time to hear the information given before she moved on to scheduling. At my "fitting" I was informed that they have 50+ masks to choose from. I saw 5 or 6 because I pushed. The tech who worked with me was lovely, and overworked. She had enough people in that night that there was no real time to discuss, let alone work with the variety of equipment they say they have on hand. On a personal note: I have trauma, and I am neuro-diverse. I manage and work with these things very effectively. During my fitting I experienced a significant amount of anxiety, linked to my sensory sensitivity, asthma, and trauma history. I used meditation techniques and breathing exercises to keep my system as calm as possible. The tech was very gracious during the small time she had to spend with me, for which I was grateful. Because my experience with the cpap machine was filled with a sensation like the beginning of an asthmatic episode (which triggered anxiety throughout the night), I questioned my ability to work with this machine. So I asked to speak with someone before we moved forward with ordering. I met with the same practitioner from my 10 min results appointment. While I had dismissed her agitation in our first meeting as likely being "a bad day," our second meeting established that I will never work with her again. To begin the meeting, she was very obviously put out by having to be there. In one of those sing-song, I'm feigning incredulity voices, she noted that we were there talking despite having already addressed moving forward. I then offered information about my "fitting" as groundwork for my concerns that my asthma might impact my ability to even use a c-pap machine. She dismissed this information, and told me maybe I needed a prescription if my little meditation stuff wasn't working. I chose to ignore this as best I could and cut to the chase. I stated I had noticed their intake forms got a thorough medical history - with no mention of Asthma. I started to voice I was concerned, when she interrupted me. This supposed medical professional turned to me with her hands clasped in front of her, and stated ""We. Are. Not. Pulminologists." while clapping her hands at each word. It was the most condescending interaction I've ever had in a medical setting. Presented with this Defensiveness to simply being asked about asthma, and the conspicuous avoidance on their intake forms, I was immediately in a place of thinking "they are unsafe for asthmatic patients." Rather than sending such patients to a pulmonary sleep center, they were avoiding this subject and rolling through as many patients as they could. While I was suddenly feeling unsafe, she decided that was the time to try to use her stethoscope on me. Her touch was unwelcome, I made that clear, and she ended the meeting with a huff. I heartily recommend avoiding this facility. My understanding is that this woman is in charge of day to day activities, and she was a nightmare.

Not a good place, staff is extremely rude and refuses to even listen to the patient, any concerns…read moreare immediately blown off, and will not even follow other diagnoses from other doctors. Stay away.
