They couldn't be more accommodating for a test drive. Gave me the impression that the car would 'speak for itself'... and it did. I quibbled the wear on the front tires. No promises were made, but they were replaced with new (albeit, very economy) tires. Car was MOTed before pickup. Came with new front discs/pads and an oil/filter change (verified)... plus, all advisories from the MOT were sorted, with evidence from a garage receipt. VERY good trade-in deal on my 9-year old C-max - £800 more than the 'we buy any car' thieves advertised on the internet... and that's before those 'WBAC' thieves would have quibbled over the condition of the car. I'm very happy with the car, having covered some 2000 miles over 4 months. It seems to me that the owner has a talent for acquiring good quality cars from trade auction and dealing with customers in a refreshingly honest and 'straight-up' manner. I would buy from this dealer again. Highly recommended for a visit.

I went through countless calls back and fourth and eventually got booked in although the advised no courtesy car would be available. Eventually I got one courtesy of the clitheroe branch although the knew nothing about me needing one. Update: The whole post sales experience has been painful and forgettable. I am now on the 3rd consecutive week with the car requiring attention. Exhaust issues, followed by clutch and now all warning lights. To top it off actually speaking to someone is almost impossible.

On complaining, they asked me to return the tyre for them to look at, I couldn't as I was at work so my father returned it, and unfortunately left it with them. They proceeded to remove all the nails, carry out the repairs, then claim that all of that was done originally. However, I have another reputable garage as proof that this wasn't the case as it was them that found the bodged repair job - they replaced the tyre and gave me the original back. I still have the tyre, and it is clear by just looking at the repairs they've done that its never been driven on - further evidence that the repairs were not carried out originally. This was not only a con as they charged me for a job they didn't actually do, but it was also extremely dangerous as they knowingly sent me away with a dangerous tyre.

My own dealing with Steve started after my daughters car developed a fault and became un-drivable, we had it towed to our local garage who suggested a new engine at £2,600. This in addition to the £800 we had already incurred whilst they examined the engine. They suggested other options like the possibility of total engine re-build etc. Frankly I wasn't happy with their inconsistent and dubious approach, so started to look else-where. Paid them £800 and brought the car home. Called many garages and engine reconditioning firms, looked at on-line reviews all with that sinking feeling. Having previously left a message on Northern Roads answering machine, Steve called back and asked about the situation and symptoms etc, offered to pop round the following day as he was in the area and take a look at the engine. We looked at the engine, now in bits and he explained his thinking, observations and showed me the parts in question, it all fitted together logically. He was really helpful, the only person who I really had any trust in and took the time to talk through the options. I asked him to take the car, investigate and we could decide how best to proceed. As it paned-out the engine damage wasn't as extensive as the previous garage had lead me to believe. The cost was only a little more that I was charged for the original inspection, best decision I have ever made, I can thoroughly recommend Steve and Northern Road (Service & Engineering) Centre Ltd.
