When I'm in London, the yoga always feels a little weird, not satisfying. I've shopped a lot of studio in LDN, and Heartcore in Notting Hill has been my favorite so far! It's absolutely adorable, well kept and well staffed. Front desk was incredibly welcoming and warm, and I loved Sarah's class! One of the best flows I've taken in awhile, even in LA. Very unique flow and I felt wonderful afterwards. Save yourself the run around and take class here!

I am beyond disappointed as the presence of a yoga studio was part of why I moved to my particular…read moreflat in Marylebone. I am a yoga enthusiast and practice everyday. This has got to be the most uninviting studio with languid and incompetent counter staff despite the studio being nearly empty when I arrived. The teacher also only made adjustments for regular students and completely ignored me for the entire class (the class had only 10 attendees). Her voice was not soothing. Transitions were awkward and there was no "flow." The other yoga students are nice but for such a beautiful brand new modern space equipped with showers, the lack of traffic makes it seem utterly cold - the irony only intensified by the myriad posters of smiling people in poses. This made me really miss my studio in New York (modo west village). Another issue I'm surprised no one mentioned are the incredibly thin yoga mats - sure they're "complimentary" but awful for your knees. I don't know HOW they can spend tons on the space without doing very basic research into the mats. I don't even think they are medically safe for hot yoga bc they have zero padding. Summary: Depressing studio with a mediocre teacher. Great facilities. Dangerous, cheap mats. Will be commuting back to Triyoga instead. from a financial perspective, this studio might go out of business if it doesn't work on such things. I'd personally avoid investing in a membership here.

I'd give this a 2.5. Despite being a beautiful, clean space, what really brought this studio down…read morefor me was the attitude of staff and even some of the people who go there. I'd show up with a smile, ready to get my stretch on, and staff would routinely ignore me when I tried to sign in for my class and act as if I was putting them through some first class torture. Certainly didn't find it warm or inviting. I don't know if it's the location, but a lot of the students were surprisingly unfriendly and the studio had such a weird pretentious vibe, and it made going there very uncomfortable for me at times. I'm not a stranger to yoga, and this was the first time I'd ever visited a studio where I routinely felt angry or sad after a class. The bathrooms are nice and clean, but far far too tiny with poor ventilation. I have to bob and weave to keep from bumping into someone after a class empties out because there's nowhere to stand while waiting for a locker. I paid a pretty penny for a 6 month membership and kept going just to get my money's worth, but won't renew. It's a shame, because one of the teachers I absolutely loved and the Iyengar classes(well, with the teacher who wasn't incredibly abrasive and ignored most of the new people) were wonderful. Unfortunately, I just felt too turned off to keep going back. If you can tune out the negative vibes, I'd recommend it for the Iyengar. But for me, the feel of a studio is just as important as the classes themselves. Still on the lookout for my studio match!

I am really surprised at the reviews below (or perhaps shall I say review as singular, as the one…read morestar drama is completely baffling and sounds like nothing I could imagine experiencing at Yogasphere). I have been a very happy regular client of Yogasphere for little over a year now, and I know many familiar faces which I see at classes just as regularly - and none of us have one bad word to say about the business. Mandy and Leo are the lovely studio owners and the main instructors. Each has a slightly different style, but I love that they both make sure to be very personal with their clients. No matter how full the class is, they always keep walking around and correcting people's posture to make sure that everybody does the poses properly. As someone with a massive anti-talent for movement, I really appreciate that. I also appreciate that even when I started as a complete yoga noob, I was always made feel very welcomed in all the classes. No matter what you fitness/flexibility/experience level is, you are always presented with options so you can keep up with the rest of the class and still get your maximum benefit from the exercise. The same applies if you have injuries. But let me tell you, I have been going for a year and despite seeing improvement in my skills, I definitely can't say that the classes are getting any 'easier' for me - and looking at the faces of the yoga regulars as we are all sweating and trying to make our muscles listen and hold the pose for a just breath longer, I think they agree. Basically the bottom line is - no matter how low or high your fitness level is, I think you will be continuously pushed at these classes and that you'll feel great every time when you leave. The classes on offer are generally divided into the open level yoga classes (more dynamic) and the mindbody yoga (which incorporates more meditation and the benefits of slower, longer controlled movements, etc.). I mostly take the dynamic classes, and I like that the instructors incorporate the explanations of the background of yoga as a millennia-old practice and the importance of mindfulness of the breath during practice very naturally. Similarly, they are very good at guiding you through the final savasana, so you leave each class very relaxed. There are multiple locations: I have tried the Albany Club and Hampstead, and I find both of them great. The space is comfortable and the bathrooms are showers are always spotless and with a good selection of hygiene products. (The only thing to perhaps be ready for beforehand is that the Albany club recently added a charge for towels, so you might wanna bring your own. Oh well. Towels are complimentary at Matt Roberts.) Yogasphere also organizes many luxurious overseas yoga retreats in wonderful locations like Costa Rica or the Himalayas. It will be a while before I can try these out, but again, I've talked to a couple of ladies who have, and they had a blast. Seriously, don't get dissuaded by the reviews below, and give this studio a shot - they rule.

The studio location at the Albany gym left a lot to be desired; blocking out the bpm music of the gym downstairs, and the pigeons humming all over the roof. When I first bought the deal there were a number of different offerings throughout the week at the albany location, as time went on this changed drastically. The instructors were ok, not very inviting, the classes weren't my particular taste but its always nice to try new things. Through my exeriences of their classes and inconsistency im a bit baffled at their shard location and press. I would never pay full price for their classes, but if you see one of their many online deals; try it out it could be your thing, just keep in mind the schedules are bound to change.

Since then, i've had 5 years of experience doing Anusara, Viniyoga, Ashtanga and Vinyasa styles never forgetting my Iyengar roots which also helped me during my own 200 hour teacher training accredited by the Yoga Alliance. Several of Judy's comments made me feel denegrated and i'd never return to this studio again. She made negative comments putting down other poses or entry/exit taught to me by other Iyengar teachers. For example, in between standing poses coming to tadasana prior to bringing my hands to my sides i was taught to bring them into anjali mudra...i was told 'please don't pray in my class'. While sitting in Dandasana i was sitting on a blanket (such that physically it would be impossible for the backs of my knees to touch the floor). She insisted i'd never had any iyengar training and that i should not ever come to her class. I told her not to worry, i'd head back to Seattle on the next flight. At the beginning of class the women said they've never had a man in their class, now i know why. I then went to a nearby cafe where most of the people in class sat at the table next to mine, including Judy, and ignored my 'hello'. As an American who's lived in London for a few months without many contacts here i realized i wouldn't be making friends from this studio either...unlike other studios. Her approach is the most unyogic i've ever experienced in 9 years of doing yoga. I then went to a BBQ with co-workers where two people said they had similar experiences at the london iyengar institute and have never gone back; so at least i'm not alone. In my opinion, if yoga is not taught from the heart, there's really no purpose to it.
