In the summer of 2011, I first went to Skydive Iowa in Brooklyn, Iowa with a friend to make our first tandem skydives. My dad had just passed away and I remember wanting to do something adventurous in honor of him, so I made my first skydive. The tandem master named Junkyard Dog took me on a tandem skydive and the tandem master named Cliff Roy took my friend on a tandem skydive. I have always loved planes and heights, so flying up in a small Cesna 206 airplane was so much fun. We got up to about 9,000 ft and made our decent from there. This skydive forever changed my life, because afterwards, I was hooked. Also, the adrenaline rush that you get after jumping is amazing. The people around the dropzone were all pretty fun to hang out with as I started in 2012 to learn how to skydive. I took out a loan from the bank and went through the AFF (Accelorated Free Fall) program. It took me 39 jumps before I was a licensed skydiver. Then also with that loan I also bought myself a complete skydiving rig. This is not a cheap sport by any means, but once I had my skydiving licence and rig, then and now I can go to the dropzone anytime (permitting good weather and a pilot is on duty) and make a full altitude jump for only $20 a time. So for me, taking out the loan and going for it, worked well.
Now flying forward into this year, I am now on skydive number 104 and I love to go to Skydive Iowa to visit my skydiving family and jump (of course). I have made most of my skydives at Skydive Iowa. I really enjoy the atmosphere and the people. For me, skydiving is a release and also kind of like a reset button for my brain. I really LOVE this dropzone and don't have any complaints.
