Planned to go skydiving with a friend from out of state who was in town for a few days, made reservations, paid deposit, everything looked good to go.
The day of the jump came it was pretty cloudy so we called them and asked if it was likely that the jump would happen. They seemed reasonably confident that we could so we made the 40 minute drive to Winterset.
To my colossal disappointment, not only did we not get to jump after waiting for at least 3-4 hours, but the workers were less than useless. The weather was not good for jumping, I understand they cannot control the weather, but they gave us zero updates the entire time we were there, opting instead to play around on wheelchairs and stand around gossiping instead of informing customers on what was happening.
I asked repeatedly for updates and was given no useful information. Towards the end of our time there, they claimed that they were sending a plane out soon to scope out the cloud cover. An hour later, I asked for an update and they had still not sent the plane, even though there were at least 6 employees standing around the hangar.
The worst thing is after we decided to call it a day and leave, I asked about getting my deposit back. They typically don't return deposits and instead try to reschedule the jump but considering my friend was in town for the week only, they said they would make an exception. Despite calling them 4 separate times to make sure I got my deposit back, and being told they would refund my money, I never got it and eventually gave up in frustration.
If you want to go skydiving, STAY AWAY from this place. Find another jump site nearby, there are alternatives that are surely better. Horrible experience overall, I will never give them business again and will do everything I can to get other people away as well. read more
