Our…read morefirst day with them started early in the morning, and we flew from Archerfield jet base to Mt Barney National Park, where we hiked up Mt Maroon. Josh and Doug had all sorts of snacks and drinks for us along the way. We only hiked halfway up, and met their friend who had gear set up for us at a rappelling point. Nothing like a little abseiling adventure to start off a day! Afterwards, we went to a lovely restaurant where we had fantastic food and wine, then drove to O'Reilly's Rainforest Retreat to spend the night. In the morning, a guide led us through a walking path and pointed out the many kinds of birds they have in Lamington National Park, and we got to hand feed some! We drove back to the air field to fly over to Stanthorpe where we visited the Ballandean Estate Winery. We finished the tour with a 7 course degustation with matching wines, which, as you can imagine, was amazing. Afterwards we flew back to Archerfield. That was supposed to be the end of our trip, but we were having so much fun with Josh and Doug that we decided to have them fly us up to the Australia Zoo the next day. On the way up, we got to fly over the coast and check out the islands. We got lucky and saw a lot of sea turtles! After a day of meeting awesome zoo animals, Doug flew us by the Glass House Mountains and partially around downtown Brisbane. Doug and Josh went above and beyond in all aspects of our trip. They planned an incredible adventure for us, and were so fun to hang out with. But they really cemented their place in my heart when they spent almost an hour searching for my lost phone on the side of the road in the dark. (We eventually found it, and they will forever be my heroes for that.) Sky Dance was hands-down the best part of our trip to Australia. Having them customize our "skytinerary" and paying for the all-inclusive trip up front was SO easy and definitely added to our experience. We certainly wouldn't have known where to go hiking and drink fantastic wine on our own, so we appreciated their knowledge of the local businesses. If I ever go back to Australia, I'm putting my full trip in their hands from the beginning. I know they won't let me down!

Today was my birthday and my partner booked me in for some flying in the tunnel as I plan to go skydiving properly within the next year. My huge excited smile quickly turned into crying in the car, embarrassed and humiliated. When I arrived I was called a man. I corrected the staff member and said I'm not a man, I'm a trans woman. My partner then also corrected him. He called me a man again before telling me there was a weight limit after looking me up and down. He told me to step on scales in front of other staff and customers, read out my weight and said I couldn't fly without an instructor. There were no instructors there. So was told I couldn't fly at all. Humiliating as this was, I was feeling defeated and just wanted to leave so said never mind. He then said "sorry man. I mean not man. Sorry man... Ah. Man. A total of 9 times I was called a man. 6 of those times occurring within literally 2 minutes. I then said I wanted to speak to the manager, Chris. The manager came out and pretty much just said "the staff member apologised, there's nothing else we can do" while shrugging his shoulders in a very careless manner. I said there is more that could be done after being spoken over and having Chris mansplain and cut me off for about a solid 5 minutes. To which he asked what could be done. I said that staff should undertake a course in sensitivity towards LGBTQ+ identifying customers. He had no interest in this and again told me there's nothing else that can be done. Apparently saying "oh sorry" fixes everything. So after being repeatedly misgendered and being disrespected by the manager, my partner being discriminated against for being deaf, and being told I'm pretty much too fat to fly, I left. Walked down the stairs I previously almost ran up with excitement and sat in my car in tears. This is the worst experience I've had anywhere and the fact the manager couldn't care less just made it so much worse. I will never be returning and I urge all LGBTQ+ identifying people to avoid this toxic place where discrimination is acceptable. Absolutely disgusting.
