We got to go to sky Tower and then Taipei 101. Both are awesome especially if you like to be in an elevator with about 100 people all breathing on you lol go it's worth it even if you get Covid which we didn't so it was great.

Windows were dirty, tables were filled with trash and the staff had no interest in bussing the tables. The views were better from the bar in the Shangri-La hotel and the Sydney Harbor Bridge.

The Sky Tower is quite the experience, however, I think it's a bit pricy considering how little there is to see and do beside the obvious. I would say my entire visit spanned 20 minutes, but for the cost I'd have expected to stay for an hour. That said, the elevator to the top levels of the tower was very anticipatory, like a roller coaster. For the first 20 floors or so, there was no outside view, then suddenly, all of Auckland is splayed out. On the 51st floor, there are sections of the floor that are thick glass. That made me very uncomfortable, despite the glass being super safe. I enjoyed circling the tower, looking at Auckland from all angles. It's such a beautiful city and that's especially highlighted from the tower view. Gift shop was underwhelming, but overall good visit. Oh, another thing about the Sky Tower is it is a great point of reference. I could see it from virtually every street in Auckland and always knew where I was. That was great for someone who gets lost often!

Arrival was a bit confusing as you go downstairs to purchase tickets and get the lift. Thankfully not too busy when I went on a Thursday evening around 7pm. Was able to get my ticket at the kiosk and wait about five minutes before heading up. Amazing views of the city! Must do on a clear weather day. The 51st floor gave good views but the 60th floor was the winner. It has an unobstructed view with the glass and supports also clear. Made for some beautiful pictures. The 53rd floor was a bar/snack/seating area and leaving that floor was a bit confusing as you needed to walk down two floors. I'd hope they have accommodations for those that can't take stairs. Similar with getting back to the ground floor, no clear signs on how to do so and there wasn't anyone there standing by to provide guidance. I'd go for the views cause they are amazing and if timed correctly could see the sun set.

Checking out Auckland from over 700 feet high was a great way to kick off our trip and get a lay of the land before all our adventures! There are three viewing decks, a revolving restaurant, and, for the more adventurous visitor (or adrenaline junkies), you can even jump off the tower or walk around the outer rim (ok yikes??!!). PRO TIP: Tickets are $2NZD cheaper if you buy them online via their website. But you can buy them at the door at one of their kiosks too. All their elevators have "operators" that take you up and down etc. They start you off at the lowest viewing deck - the "main" deck on level 51 which is 610 feet up. They have window decals with interesting info about all the sights you're seeing which was cool. You get excellent views of Westhaven Marina (largest in the southern hemisphere apparently) and the Auckland bridge, as well as the 53 volcanoes that surround the city! It was great - but was definitely the most packed floor. And the windows were super filthy - especially the ones on the floor looking down - it was gross lol. Once you're done there, the elevator operator takes you up to the Sky Deck on level 60 at 722 feet which is their highest viewing floor! This one was WAY less crowded and much better - and the windows were all super clean. The only thing missing were the info signs but it was fun bc you can look down on people doing the Sky Walk. Definitely my fave viewing floor. And last but not least the elevator operator brings you down to "The Lookout" on level 53 at 636 feet. This one was also great bc this is where you get to watch the adventurers doing the Sky Walk up close haha! Brave souls!! It looked positively terrifying to me - nope nope nope lol!! Level 53 also had couches and seating areas and a small bar type area but I didn't see a menu so am not sure what they were serving. We just so happened to show up right as the Sky Walkers were heading out so it was really fun to see them doing the photo stunts with their guide. The families of the walkers were having a blast watching - definitely a fun activity! And later in our trip we saw someone doing the Sky Jump - such a crazy thing to see haha - definitely adds an exciting element to the city. We heard a scream and looked up just in time - it was startling so just be aware that it's likely you'll witness that when e exploring the city lol. In addition to the revolving restaurant Orbit 360° they have a bar called SkyBar on level 50. There's a gift shop on the ground floor and they even have a virtual "ride" called the Sky Slide lol. Staff were all very welcoming and helpful. The tower is right in the heart of the CBD and was very convenient for us - a short walk from our hotel. We landed way too early to check in so had the hotel hold our bags and we stretched our legs and walked over. It's a tad pricey but I'd say it's a must - such great views and a great way to start your Auckland adventures!

The Sky Tower is undoubtedly one of Auckland's most iconic landmarks, standing as the tallest structure in the Southern Hemisphere. Opened in 1997, this marvel of engineering is a key part of Auckland's skyline and now visitors have a chance to experience the city from incredible heights. Built as part of the SkyCity complex, the tower serves multiple purposes, including telecommunications, observation decks, and as home to several dining experiences, including the Orbit 360 restaurant where we dined. Up we go into the tower and treated to panoramic views that stretch across Auckland's harbors, islands, and the distant mountain ranges. It's a quintessential tourist stop, but one where the jaw-dropping vistas fully justify the tourist reputation.

From the archives of 2015 our stop at the tower as part of 10-day bucket list trip to NZ and AU. This was one our first tour stops. If never been to NZ worth the trip up and down by elevator. Or jump if you want to get the extra thrill. Tower is very noticeable on harbor area.

Looking for something quick to do... this is it! Spectacular views of Auckland! Not overly crowded! Kid's sections! Educational! Breathtaking! And even someThing for the daredevils of the family --- bungee jumping! Windows were a bit dirty on the main floor (51) but if you went all the way to the top... they were clean! Quite an experience! The staff were so kind and informative! The entire building and outside areas were spotless! Bathrooms were clean & maintained! Not a whole lot to choose from in the souvenir shop for adults... but our souvenirs are our photos, I guess! I'd definitely recommend this for a super quick stop or if you just have some time to kill! Wish I could've bungeed but the had just closed it for the day when I inquired!!!

A completely worthwhile stop when visiting Auckland. Great views and a polished and professional atmosphere. Not for those afraid of heights however and the sky walk and sky jump are options for the thrill seekers. Ice cream and food/drink options seemed good.

I would recommend for the views and experience but wasn't super impressed with the service. We pre ordered drinks and I'm not sure what the point of that was. Drinks were confirmed with the reservation, again when we arrived, and then still took twenty minutes to arrive at the table. Was hoping they'd be ready on arrival. We would've ordered a second drink but no one returned so we left. Cool city views though.

How could I not. Even on a somewhat rainy and overcast day, there was still very good visibility from the observation deck so it was worth it. I've been to quite a few of these towers around the world including the Calgary Tower, the Space Needle, the Rhine Tower in Düsseldorf, Olympiaturm in Munich, the CN Tower in Toronto and recently, the Fernsehturm in Stuttgart. Every time it's magical to ride the elevator to touch the sky. Auckland's tower is extra special because they not only have a few sections of glass floor to walk on, there's a bar where you can get a drink. There's just something wonderful about sitting calmly with a beer a few hundred feet above the city. This was fabulous. [Review 529 of 2024 - 174 in New Zealand - 21561 overall]

When I travel, I am not particularly interested in going up in a tall building or tower, such as the Eiffel Tower or Empire State Building, especially with the crazy prices that are charged. $40+ for a view? I'll pass. However, we did purchase tickets for the Sky Tower as we got a slight discount when we bundled it with the Weta Workshop tour, it was near our hotel, and we didn't have anything better to do. Due to our itinerary and other activities we had planned, we did not go until our last day in Auckland which was fortunate, as that was the one day where there wasn't any rain or clouds, so we had a great view. The Sky Tower is is 328 meters tall and the main observation deck is on level 51, with 360 degree views of the city at 186 meters. The observation deck has sections of thick glass floors so that you can see down (I don't understand how 38mm or 1.5 inches is considered thick!). The elevator also has glass floors, and it's quite the weird sensation to be able to look down as you are going up or down very rapidly -- not recommended for people with vertigo! Fortunately there weren't many people on the observation deck when we were up there, so it was nice and relaxing and we spent our time taking in the view. In addition to the observation deck, there are also restaurants in the Sky Tower and the opportunity to "skywalk" (walking around the outside of the tower at a height of 192 meters while wearing a harness) or "skyjump" which is exactly as it sounds -- jumping from a height of 192 meters and reaching speeds of up to 85kph. That's a hard NOPE for me! [Yelp collections: NZ/Fiji 2023; New Zealand 2023]

Buy online for cheaper tickets. Come on a day where it opens late so that you can see the day, sunset and night views. There are two floors to view from. Free WiFi. Checking this off the list of towers I've visited across the globe! Thank you mother nature for the show tonight! Happy Thanksgiving
