Heartened by my own experience of Edge hair design which is right next door to Deans Hairdressing…read more(Barbers would be a more accurate term), I sent my boyfriend to Dean for a pre-Christmas trim. Deans is an honest barbers shop... turn up, wait for the next free barber, take a seat, short-back-and-sides, then out... no frills, no fuss! The staff are all really friendly and chatty, if a little intimidating at first sight... Clearly they all get to the gym on a regular basis when not brandishing their hair clippers! Deans also offer a full wet-shave 'experience' with cut throat razors, hot towels and the works. I know that the boyfriend is hankering after this, and at £7.50 for the treatment I may just send him in for one soon if it means not having to put up with his stubble for even a day! He highly recommends the treatment received at Deans, and the cut is tidy, if not imaginative. All in all, worth a visit!

Its cheap, it very rarely has any queues and its cheap. It is only a small unit, with two chairs available to have your hair cut in. this doesn't really matter as there is only ever one girl there to cut it. The Mens Den (or Menz Den as their signage would have you believe they are called) seems to be an…read moreattempt at creating a hang-out and centre of excellence for the (slightly self-conscious) metrosexual man in the South Manchester/Trafford area. It's advertising bills it as the venue of choice for men looking for a haircut, male 'beauty' treatmen (including waxing of backs and other bits), massage (in a non-dodgy way) and the opportunity to hang-out and play computer games and read (presumably Nuts or Loaded magazine). I sent my rather shaggy-haired boyfriend there for a wet cut and his feedback would suggest that the ways in which this place thinks it's different are not as significant as the advertising would have you believe. He received a cut that was described in his own words as 'not terrible', but this was only successfully obtained following a number of abortive attempts to get a trim when he was greeted by a 'back in 5 minutes' sign taped to the front door. Given its slightly inconvenient location on the main road through Sale where there is precious little parking, this was pretty annoying. Given the proliferation of hairdressers in sale (who will cater for blokes and women I would suggest there is little to drive you to the Mens Den unless you are desperate for a back, sack and crack wax at the same time.

They took a picture of his hair without even asking him and when i checked his neck there were small cuts from the razor. Please don't punish yourself or your child by bringing them here
