Gothenburg's central bus terminal is the kind of stereotypically European mass transit hub that makes even us Americans look at with envy and scream out "PORQUE?!" when subjected to atrocities such as the Port Authority Bus Terminal or Penn Station.
clean, modern-looking (I wonder: how many Ikea hex-wrenches gave their lives to build this place), and efficiently laid out, Nils Ericson Terminal handles long-range buses coming from other cities. at the time, I was living just outside Oslo; the bus ride itself is a little more than 4 hours.
centrally located in the middle of Gothenburg, the rail station is also conveniently a block away. agents are available to help you out if need be; many speak English and they actually speak it well.
as is common in many European cities, at the bus terminal you can also pick up a pass for local mass transit with included free admissions or discounts for sightseeing. definitely worth it! read more
