This review is long overdue. I cannot recommend Jerome; and the gracious staff at Skip's Flowers enough. My mom and I; happened upon; an outdoor wedding in Lavalette, NJ; last summer 25'. The flowers were so amazing; that I took pictures thinking; if I ever get married again. Mom loving the palettes; an avid gardener herself. Little did I know; that I would be bringing those pics in; a few months later; requesting the same arrangements; for my mother Mary's funeral. Mom passed on October 4th, 2025. Jerome remembered mom & me. And he truly went out of his way; to make my mother's funeral so special; and on short notice! I am forever indebted. The talent, and care that went in; the beauty and quality of the flowers; brought glimmers of JOY (our word); to the occasion. We donated 2 of the larger vase arrangements; to the funeral home; and restaurant where mom's repass luncheon was held. Allowing more people to enjoy; their splendor; everyone raving how gorgeous. Shameful how my friend was treated. she lost her beloved child. she brought in a jersey to have a floral arrangement made. it as not done to her liking and called to complain. she did not want a refund all she wanted was an apology for not following the directions she requested after bringing in the jersey and being told they didn't need it. then telling her it was done correctly and she's just upset her daughter died! how horrible. when someone is grieving can you just say you're sorry? a little compassion goes a long way! read more

Skip's florist did a beautiful job on the flowers for my daughter's wedding from the design,taking time to listen to what my daughter wanted. To helping her decide what colors would be best to match the bridal party's attire. They delivered the day of the wedding and setup the flowers on the arbor. At the last minute, they went above and beyond by hanging the material my daughter bought to decorate the arbor. Stella was great to work with, The delivery driver was very nice. Purchased $ 50.00 worth of lilies for a friend to spread with her deceased young daughter's ashes. Needed them for 5/11. Lady said; " special order, can you come in and pick them up Friday, 5/7?" I did, and Sunday, 5/9 they were all dead. After writing about this the manager posted: " please call me" I did, we talked with her not accepting any responsibility, No partial refund/credit issued! very dissapointed in the funeral spray and the sympathy arrangement . Funeral spray ordered was nothing like the photo shown on the teleflora site which was soft colors. The spray whe delivered had dark purple gladiolus around. The perimeter that were basically i bloomed and not even opened yet, the rest of the spray was pale looking and non descript. This was for a family member and it was ugly. Secondly the sympathy arrangement sent by teleflora looked nothing like the teleflora arrangement ...the flowers were pale looking and unattractive. The vase shown on the teleflora site was elegant plain clear glass but the vase they used was and ugly foggy patterned clear glass . Very dissapointing ! and delivery charges seemed excessive . based on our experience at this important time, I cannot recommend them . Very sad how the flowers turned out. read more

First, I'd like to same I have never written a Yelp review in all of my 30 years of existence, but the service I received today deserved recognition. I live out of state and had a terrible experience with an online florist sending a god awful arrangement to my mother. So I called Skips to see if they could make/send a last minute replacement because I couldn't stand the thought of my mom coming home from the hospital to ugly bouquet from the online florist. I didn't get the name of the woman I spoke to on the phone at Skips, but she was so incredibly lovely and helpful. She went above and beyond to help me get something beautiful for my mom and I am so grateful! Disappointed again. Every time I use their service I'm always disappointed but I keep trying hopefully one day they'll get it right. I know that when I called to place the order or order from on line I never get what the picture looks like I always end up with different colors different flowers and half the arrangement are weeds or fillers. Of course when I send them it's usually to my mother and I call her and say "hi mom how does it look? she'll always say oh it's nice" and then when I go there to see them I get upset with her because I say how could you say these look nice when it looks like a bunch of weeds in a vase with no bow or anything and she goes well I didn't want to say anything. So it just happened again for her birthday- I did call to complain and the man told me he would call me back and of course he never did! Sorry to say I really think this time I'm done! read more

This florist does not care about what you want but just makes their own decisions about what flowers you should be using and what theme or style you are having for your event. Also, if you're not rich don't bother coming here. They have a nasty attitude if you are on a budget and treat you like garbage. Completely closed minded to discussing reasonable options. Skip's florist came to the rescue for a Sunday wedding over Labor Day weekend. Early Sunday morning, the bride noticed her white bouquet had been stored too closely to the fan in our refrigerator, turning many of her flowers brown. Skip's was the only florist open, so we called in a panic- we needed the bouquet fixed - and quickly! They were so accommodating and understanding of our situation. Within 15-20 minutes, our florist disassembled the bouquet, replaced many of the flowers, and had it looking better than we could have imagined!! As we all know, flowers can be expensive. Our florist insisted that he would not take any form of payment, and that he was happy to fix this for our bride! I can't say enough great things about this florist. Leaving Skip's, I was overcome with appreciation. Good deeds like this are too far and few between. The wonderful florists at Skip's made our bride so happy. We are so grateful to them, and would recommend them to anyone in the area!! read more

I ordered a Mother's Day bouquet 3 days prior on their website. I received a confirmation of the order. The day after Mother's Day, I spoke to my mom wondering why she didn't mention the flowers. She never received them! I called Skip's and they said they never updated their online orders so the flowers weren't delivered. They offered to send a bouquet after Mother's Day... 2/15/2021 Disappointed!!!!!!!!!!! 10 friends went in on a basket ($97.00 with tax & delivery) for a mutual friend's 80th birthday. I called in plenty of time as Valentine's Day was coming. The birthday is actually today, the 15th, but they told me they'd be closed so had them delivered on the 14th. I specifically requested that a picture be taken and sent to me via email or text and gave my info so that I could share what the basket looked like with the other 9 gals. I also, SPECIFICALLY requested that it not have a Valentine theme as it is for an 80th birthday. I was promised both!!!! The flowers were delivered. I did not get a picture. I called and they forgot to take a picture - blamed it on the delivery driver. When the birthday 'girl' sent a picture, it is Valentine themed. The picture she sent is nice and the birthday girl doesn't know the background on this. But, there are 10 people who do know. Not good for business. What was so hard about this? read more

I called 4 florists in NJ this morning to try to send Easter Lily's to two relatives in Toms River. James at Skip's was the only florist who answered, had inventory, and could deliver same day...all DURING a pandemic! He texted me photos of what he had in store and I ended up buying a beautiful and fragrant bulb basket and an Easter Lily...both were gorgeous. I wish I could give Skip's Florist a ZERO. I placed an order on 4/24/15 (over $120.00) for two tulip bouquets to be delivered the day before Mother's Day (5/9/15). My mother received her arrangement as requested. I received a call from my mother-in-law today (5/10/15) and when I asked if she received her flowers, she said she did not. I phoned Skip's immediately. I explained what had happened and after speaking to 2 different people, a woman told me she would pull the driver's records and call me back in a few minutes. As time was going on, I realized that Skip's closes at 2pm today. So I called the shop at 1:45pm. An answering service answered the phone. The patronizing man that answered told me someone would call me back tomorrow (Monday, 5/11/15). That INFURIATED me. Not only did my Mother-in-law not receive her flowers, but they didn't even have the courtesy to call me back as they said they would AND they had their "answering service" answering the phones 10 minutes BEFORE they are supposed to be closed? What bad business. I had to give the "answering service" (I put this in quotations because they guy was so patronizing, he clearly shouldn't have a job dealing with the public) all of the same information I had already given TWO people in the shop. I told him a phone call tomorrow was NOT acceptable and someone needed to call me back ASAP. He returned my call, said the flowers had been left with a neighbor and a call tag placed at my Mother-in-law's. My mother-in-law did finally track down the flowers. The only problem? She HAD been home and no call tag was ever left. So sure, they flowers had been delivered to a neighbor. BUT the way Skip's handled this entire issue was such bad, bad, bad business in a time when word-of-mouth and social media is how many people exchange business info. There are so many florists in the Toms River area. Skip's clearly does not know how to handle issues with their customers. Had my phone call been returned when it should have been and when I was told it would be, I would have been a happier customer. read more

Very disappointed with this florist. Not sure why this florist is allowed to participate in teleflora. I ordered a specific arrangement through teleflora at a florist near my home. My friend received an arrangement not at all like what was ordered. Ironically the arrangement I ordered is on the first page of their website. I used Skips for my wedding back in April. The planning process was great. Jerome, the coordinator we worked with, was fun, energetic, and definitely knew his stuff. He and Stella, I guess one of the owners, had my mother and I feeling relieved and assured everything would be perfect. We sat with them both two days prior to my wedding and went over everything including times. Unfortunately, things did not go as planned. The house flowers, my bouquet as well as my bridesmaid's bouquets, were to arrive at my house by 10 am the morning of my wedding, per my photographer's request. They did not arrive until after 11. My photographer was frustrated as it put her behind. The groomsmen's boutineers as well as church altar pieces and aisle decor was to arrive at 1:15, my ceremony started at 2. My limo pulled up at 1:45 and my photographer comes outside to tell me the flowers are nowhere in sight and she had to take all the church pictures of my fiancé and his groomsmen without their boutineers. At 10 minutes to 2, I see the skips van pull up outside of the church. Now they are decorating the church and pews when 95% of my guests are already sitting there watching this. I was approached by a crying Stella later that night at the end of my reception when she came to clean up the room. She told me she had a smaller wedding the same morning and "time got away from her" she said she wanted to make the other people "feel good" too. Well, that's fantastic. I paid you 4 grand so you could make someone else feel good on my wedding day. Never again, Skips. read more

I used Skip's for a simple prom wrist slit, ordered and paid for ($49) one week in advance. The wrist slit was not ready at the designated pick-up time, so they agreed to quickly put something together - not what I ordered as they didn't have the correct color flowers on hand. One of the roses actually fell off en route to the picture venue, the remaining roses fell off as soon as the corsage was lifted from the container. The poor girl basically received a bracelet with a ribbon on it. I would NOT recommend Skip's! read more
