We are traveling in our 24' sprinter motor home coming from Pennsylvania and circling all of lake Michigan. Stopped for one night here in Munising to do the glass bottom boat. Camping at the Tourist Campground. After our tour, we came out to go back to camp and discovered a flat on one of the rear duel wheels. Went up the road and found Skips. Pulled in, explained our issues, had a spare and needed it changed. They had other work, but two of their guys immediately came out, accessed the job and went right to work switching tires, tough job on a sprinter. 45 minutes later at a very fair price, we were on our way. We had crashed our truck, and while someone we knew was on the way to pick it up and tow it back, these pos's picked it up and literally took our truck hostage. Illegally help it from us for weeks until we paid $500 so we could get our stuff out. In michigan, tow truck companies are legally required to allow you a chance to get your stuff out after they tow your car.instead, when we brought up that law, they simply stated if we entered their property, we'd be shot and cops would be called. Police in the area won't do anything about it, either. Your best bet is to completely avoid this place as best you can, because they can and will f*ck you over. I Repeat, DO NOT USE SKIP'S AUTO REPAIR. they're sh*tty people, and they don't care about others, definitely seems like the kind of place that would sabotage your car so that you have to come back and spend more. Our rear passenger tire of our motorhome was flat. Skips was the only place that could help us in the munising area and they were closed. We were able to reach them through good sam road assistance and they agreed to open the shop and fix the tire. It was Saturday and we would have to wait until Monday if they didn't help us. read more

On a snowmobile trip from Detroit area , just crossed the bridge my truck was misfiring bad limped it into munising on a Sunday . They are ignorant, and will cause more damage to your property than their initially was. Roam Automotive is much better, they care about their clients and they are fast. At skips, they screw you around any way possible. Wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. read more

My wife & I had a slow leaking tire issue as we were traveling the Upper Peninsula & Skip's was right down the road from our Kayak adventure. We stopped there in the middle of the afternoon & our van was being checked out within 1 minute of arrival. Once the leak was found the tire guy pulled out part of a screw, plugged the hole & we were on our way just 10 minutes after arrival, it was only $10 too. These guys gave us such a good feeling as we weren't sure how much time this issue would take away from our precious vacation. Can't thank them enough. read more

On the way up from lower Michigan to the Munising area for a high adventure backpacking trip through the Pictured Rocks on the North Country Trail with our Boy Scout Troop, I had an antifreeze leak that I made me have to baby the van half of the way to Munising. Once I got into Munising Sunday night, the lady at the gas station recommended that I go to Skip's. I did the next day Monday morning before they opened to ask for service. They were booked all day and most of the week until Friday. We were due to start the trek that day and would be on trail until Friday. The nice man at the place said they would try to get me in to look at it being that it was an emergency and saw our situation. The rest of the Troop went to start the trek that day and I and one of the leaders stayed to wait. Later that day close to close, he brought it in and replaced the water pump for me. It was past closing around 5pm when he finished. He worked hard and managed to fit me in so we could meet the boys on the trail that night. All this great service and very nice customer service made me extremely happy so I had to pass the word to others so they know of this great place. They did not over charge me and really charged me a great price for the work they did. Also, the two chairs in the waiting room were very comfortable, hahaha. I really appreciate all they did for me. My car died a week ago, coming into Munising from Marquette. The gentleman in the office at Skips Auto Repair said they would check it out and let me know, so I got a ride back down to the lower peninsula. Several calls, (only reached the answering machine at 8:10 a.m., 1:20 p.m. on two different days) and 10 days later, and I have not heard from anyone at Skips. If you're having car trouble and you're in Munising, MI Skip's Auto Repair downtown is the real deal. The check engine light had come on in our motorhome and the guys at NAPA Auto Parts reccomended Skip. It was 4:30 on Monday and he was booked until Friday. One of his technicians took a look and found the O2 sensor had rusted off and was hanging below the vehicle. They had a knew one installed and we were on our way by 5:00. And he refused a tip!
