Update from my November 12, 2025 review:…read more First, that Takamine is still my go-to guitar. But now, I have to extend kudos further for what they've done for my Eastman AR580-CE archtop. As my physical capabilities degrade (hey, I'm getting older...), I find it easier to play lighter gauge strings with lower action. So I tasked Hot Rod 6 strings with lowering the action and setting it up for 10s instead of 12s. The result is fantastic; it's replaced my Tele as my go-to jazz guitar. His prices are very competitive, but where Rick really shines is in his expert knowledge of music and instruments, and his fanatical commitment to customer service. One time I blew a speaker in a cabinet I purchased at the 'Hangar -- it was under warranty, so all I had to do was send it back to the manufacturer and wait for a replacement. Rick personally took care of shipping the blown speaker back to the maker, and when the replacement was delayed by back orders he got on the phone with them and insisted they pull a speaker from their production area and ship it to me immediately, which they did. He didn't have to to that, and I doubt anyone else would. So I'm a Guitarhangar customer for life.

We originally called Christopher to line up a tuning of a second-hand piano we thought we were going to buy. When he learned of the specs of this piano, he dissuaded us from purchasing it, telling us it wouldn't be worth the moving fee. He could have stopped there, but he went on to commit to helping us find a decent used piano (note that we had not hired him for anything yet). About a week later, we got a call from Christopher, who was trying out a piano on our behalf and connected us with the seller. And wow, his guidance was spot on - Christopher found us a beautiful, high-quality instrument that was 100 times better than what we'd found and only a bit more expensive. Christopher came today to tune the new piano, spending considerable time to invest his high-quality, conscientious workmanship in the job, and charged a very fair and reasonable rate. We recommend him very highly and without hesitation. A+ work.
