The first thing that strikes you with Buddy's is that everyone working there speak English. The…read moreowner is obviously from Ireland but the rest of them seem to be local students. Anyhow, that's not the point of this review. Buddy's is your standard "Irish" pub, delivering what it advertises i.e. beer and pub food. I had the hamburger which was a bit dry but the coleslaw andchips were really good. I'm guessing garlic in the coleslaw . You get a lot of food here so if you're hungry you're not going home disappointed. I should've had the fish and chips instead though which looked much nicer. Next time maybe. The beer was a bit pricey and they tended to of the hipster type, that is lots of pale ales from the States. Nothing wrong with that but just because you have Guinness on tap it doesn't make you an Irish pub. Overall a nice place to hang out in and have a few pints. Liked the atmosphere and the people working at Buddy's were genuinely friendly. I'd have no problem coming back here or recommending the place to my friends.

The food is much more than you would normally expect from a pub; excellent every time and the menu has some staples (like the best fish and chips, in news paper, as it is supposed to be served) and some new and innovative dishes. Its a nice size, a mix of tall and regular tables, familiar signs and a convivial, cheery Irishman tending bar. Alas I didn't eat, just came for a Bushmill's after dinner elsewhere. The crowd was happy and lively, a pleasant mix of young and old, a bit like the staff, our Irish gent balanced by several young, hipster servers. Excellent Wi-Fi to boot! I was happy at the bar, listening, people-watching and reveling in the good feelings. I'd come again, and I might like this same seat at the bar, above the fray but still included.

This was a great NY-themed restaurant in the middle of Uppsala, a bit too upscale for my budget,…read morebut my colleagues wanted to have dinner here so I didn't have much of a choice. Their burgers and fries looked delicious and cost around $30 each. I ordered a $13 brownie with vanilla ice cream, which - at first - seems like a small portion. It was surprisingly flavorful and not too sweet. I probably wouldn't pay for another $13 brownie during my stay here, but if you're willing to splurge for good dessert - this is the place to do it. The waitress was very nice and accommodating to my group. She didn't have any problems splitting the check and distributing individual checks. The only downside was that she didn't check-up on our table that much during the meal, so waiting for a check took longer than expected. Personally, I wasn't bothered by it; in some European countries, it's rude for waiters to rush their patrons. I just wasn't sure if this was part of the Swedish culture or the waitress herself.

Mind you the restaurant was empty. Our drinks were served about 30 minutes after we placed an order and right before the food arrived. Lastly, my food was delivered about 10 minutes after everyone else's. You'd think they were competing on how long it will take me to blow up.
