Car break downs, damage fines and misleading garage attendants, oh my! This a tale of warning. Do not rent with Sixt.
Tale 1: When we came to drop off the car, we asked where to park. We were directed to park in a specific spot. Come to find out, that spot incurred a $120 parking ticket that Sixt is now expecting ME to pay even though I was told to park there.
Not only was I told to park there, when we went inside to the desk to hand in our keys, we confirmed where we parked and were told that was perfectly fine and acceptable.
All the emails I have received from Sixt since then have been corporate nonsense. Saying that I have to dispute the ticket with the parking agency or provide proof of the interactions with staff.
So I suppose my advice to anyone traveling with Sixt is to record all interactions with staff. This company is willing to throw away loyal corporate clients over $100.
Tale 2: The last time I traveled with Sixt, my electric vehicle stopped in a junction. Roadside was nonexistent. Then, they tried to add dozens of "damage" fines to the car provided as a substitute despite having done no damage in the 1 journey made.
Worst rental experience I've had to date. read more
