Dear Hurricane Harbor, 7/31/26 I'm am deeply disappointed, and concerned with the service here at this water park. Specifically, Pink Flamingo Café. First of all, on July 31st, between 11:19 - 11:30AM, I got my food. which were chicken tenders with waffle fries. I was furious when the worker asked me if I wanted sauce with my chicken tenders. Not because she asked me if I wanted it, but the selections she gave me. Ranch, Ketchup, and Barbecue sauce. Now, let me ask you, what kind of psychopath would put ranch on their chicken tenders? Your workers are obviously not the "smartest of the bunch". Adding on to this, as I sat down to eat my food, I picked up a waffle fry. As I was about to eat it, I noticed a moldy green substance on my fry. Now, I'm no genius, but the last time I checked, mold should not be served with waffle fries. Is this really what I paid for? I paid money, just to find out that my fries have mold on them. So since one had mold, like any other sane person would do, I checked if any others did. And I found several fries with mold on them. Now before I threw them out, since I already wasted my money, I tried to refund my fries, and they said no. Since when do you guys not except refunds? Instinctively, I checked the chicken tenders for any anomalies on them. And "shocker" I found a shard of glass on my chicken tenders. How the hell is this even possible?! You might as well hire a hitman to kill me at this point. I Highly recommend a contamination check on your restaurant Pink Flamingo Café. I would rather take a 6 month vacation the Epstein's Island, and after that live in North Korea for a year, than ever go to Hurricane Harbor again. I would rather be locked in a room with Jeffrey Dahmer, and P. Diddy than ever go to Hurricane Harbor again. And finally, id rather jump of the Empire State Building tied to the most annoying girl I know, while Taylor swift is playing. Also, you might want to preform an IQ check on your employee's. And please fire whoever hired these monsters. Now whatever you do, do not fire this one guy that I met at Pink Flamingo Café, we're chill, because he called me tuff. List of other complaints I have: The water slides aren't even fun The bathrooms smell like shi I have to carry this bulky ahh tube up endless flights of wooden stairs There was a girl who said she liked me and then started stalking me My rating: 0/10 I'm never going there again I highly recommend turning around if this place is in a mile radius of you. Went here today as we have the season pass for 6 flags mainly for the trill rides. Through we would check out the waterpark today. Holy weed overgrowth! Looks like they haven't had a running lawn mower or weedwacker for years. Needs some lawn maintenance and it would be nice. Needs more rides that the tubes are taken to the top of the ride for you. read more

5 stars for Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Chicago. It's a huge water park right next to Six Flags Great America, in Gurnee - IL. There's a ton of water slides, kids areas, and 2 pools for guests to enjoy. Some tips so you can get the most of your visit - come 30 minutes before open (arrive in line no later than 10:30 AM), do any water slides you want to do right away, and after those, eat lunch right away. Doing this avoids the massive lines for both the water slides and the lunchtime rush of guests. If you can come on a weekday, that is definitely recommended over coming on a weekend day (way more crowded). The employees are very friendly, my only negative thought I can think of is how corporate needs to get all of the rides open - a lot of skull island (the kids area) and the lazy River are currently closed due to lack of life guards being certified currently (the process of certification Six Flags has their life guards do is very intense for the job), but please show patience and respect for the employees that are there and ready to work. Overall, a fun water park and great place to come hang out in the summertime if you plan everything right. read more

We have a season pass. We come here maybe once a week. It's always the same super super crowded. You wait for an hour in the hot sun to get to a top and it's only less than a minute ride. One hour wait for 1 minute ride. The entire day we're here we may be go to three or four rides 304 minutes of ride versus 5 hours or so of waiting in line. Seems like it would be a great water park if half of the slides weren't closed. Went on a Tuesday in 90 degree heat and had to wait 30-45 minutes to get on a slide due to closures. Don't know if it's because they're under staffed or what. Food is ridiculously priced. Bring a lunch and keep a cooler in your car. Will not be going back. read more

With more than a month left in operations, the park decided to revert back to a "Saturday and Sunday only" schedule. I was hopeful that the past couple of weeks were simply due to special circumstances, but nope. They're closed M-F. I'm reconsidering our annual season passes for next year. If they intend to operate at a very abbreviated schedule, that should be revealed upfront before so much money is spent. read more

All your shops should be fully staffed. Insane that you allow lines to sit in this heat when people are willing to spend the obscene fees you charge! You also sell all day/season drinks but don't have separate lines for drinks. It's obviously mismanaged or intentionally malicious. read more

Pros: Excellent slide selection. Great wave pool. Cons: overcrowded all around in park and parking lot. Bathrooms are filthy and really unsanitary especially during these times. Not acceptable. I'm surprised as I've been to Rockford location and it's much cleaner. The lazy river was closed and whole back section by Booty bay. Foods way overpriced. read more

Service: this place is run by kids under 18. Attempted to make a complaint due to inappropriate and disrespectful behavior (child with us got hurt on the ride and was disrespected by the staff member); and was met by another teenager who pretended to be a manager and tried to be intimidating (and attempting to copy what she sees on tv shows); then, directed to another "supervisor" who was also under 18 and disrespectful; she just wrote the complaint on a sheet of paper (pretty sure they are not going to address any of these complaints). Six flags knows how to make money and hire only underaged, suburban kids (who are on a power trip); it's dangerous that they are allowed to be operating machinery that could harm others; these kids are in for a rude awakening for life; and six flags probably won't last long with this many poor management and safety issues. read more

Lines were really long . We were waiting for this one slide that fits three people and it was so much fun! But I think we must have been in the line for an hour or so . The staffs are quite friendly . There's a lot to do at the water park but can get quite crowded. I got an eye infection at the end of the night either from here or from the six flags theme park. SOAK'D! The gigantic waterpark attached to Chicago's Six Flags is a shining example of the best - and worst - America has to offer. (( editor's note: I had a much more appropriate storm-centric title planned for this review, but in light of the recent events of both Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma, I decided it would've been in poor taste and changed it to something more generic )) Seeking a day of fun in the sun, I surprised brunette bombshell Nichole C by bringing her up to Gurnee on Sunday 9/3/17, the last "nice" weekend of the summer. Neither of us had been on waterslides in nearly half a decade, so we were long overdue for some slippery slaloms. ₩aterpark +GOOD+ Lifeguards were attentive and surprisingly friendly. Though I was fully expecting to see zombies manning the body slides, much of the waterpark staff were smiling and seemed happy to be there. The lazy river was lots of fun and wrapped around the perimeter. Slide selection was widely varied, from the speedy double tube ride 'Hammerhead' to the 'Wahoo Racer' mat slides. 'Vortex' was an awesome "toilet bowl" style ride that flung your 2-person tube into an open funnel. Acoustics in there were great! The massive 'Tornado' was one of the more intense attractions; a special 4-person cloverleaf tube drops from a height of 75ft into a large sideways funnel and features some excellent airtime (unusual for a waterslide). One person is guaranteed to make this zero-gravity drop backwards, so be ready! Perhaps the most powerful thrill of the entire day happened with 'Dive Bomber', a pair of trapdoor body slides. At 77ft high, you enter a single person capsule as the ride attendant closes the plexiglass shield around you. After a brief delay, the bomb bay doors spring open and you're rushed into sunlight. You'll experience momentary weightlessness before your body makes contact with the slide channel AND IT'S TERRIFYING. It's nothing like the negative G's on 'Raging Bull' or even the freefall sensation on 'Giant Drop', since in this case there's no restraints, no seatbelt, nada. Just your wet ass versus gravity. Folks, I've ridden 'The Beast' at midnight, tamed 'Top Thrill Dragster' in the front row, braved bungee jumping, got lost on Chicago's southside....nothing comes close to the sheer swimsuit-pissing terror of having your mostly naked body suspended in limbo for a fraction of a second. It was a tremendous rush, NOT for the feint of heart. ₩aterpark -BAD- 'HH' used to be included with daily admission to the theme park....no longer is that the case. Unless you've got a gold season pass, all waterpark guests are charged an extra $10pp, which sucks. The price gouging continues with rental lockers (which you'll need), as a midsized storage unit costs $17 with unlimited usage throughout the day until 6pm. As if that weren't bad enough, tube rentals are a WHOPPING $12 for a ring of inflated plastic. That's nuts. Food & drink were just as expensive here as inside the theme park.....which is to say unreasonably high. I was unsuccessful in purchasing a Cherry Coke from any vending machine, as they were all sold out. On one of the final days of summer when temperatures reached 83°, only half of the mat racers were open (3 of 6 lanes were closed) and 'Wipeout' was altogether closed. It would've been nice to see everything running at full capacity for the last operating day of the year. ₩aterpark ^UGLY^ The concessions lines inside Hurricane Harbor were easily the longest in the entire park. Longer than the wait for 'Goliath', longer than the line of cars to-be-parked, longer than the queue of people at the entry gate. Was it because the staff isn't trained to quickly deal with customer's requests for chicken finger baskets and drink refills? Whatever the case, we chose not to get anything and opted instead to head into the main park for refreshments, likely saving us half an hour. Unless you arrive at opening, nabbing a free chaise lounge is next to impossible. Of course, you could pay a bazillion dollars for a private cabana..... *TL;DR* Bigger and better than 'Magic Waters' in Rockford, but not as reasonable or family friendly as 'Raging Waves' in Yorkville, Great America's resident waterpark is a decent place to cool off before or after a day of riding coasters. In spite of the additional cost of entry and the outrageous price of both concessions and tube/locker rentals, I would've had no problem giving Hurricane Harbor four stars. My girl and I both had a blast, our time was well spent. The closure of some slides was a bummer, and those lines to get a snack or drink looked ridiculous. The restrooms were relatively clean, as was the overall waterpark, which I was happy to see. There were hives of wasps near the top of some slide towers (oh god oh god the bees why did it have to be BEES??) Recommended for couples and aquatic thrill-seekers, not advisable for large families. Save your sanity and eat/drink elsewhere at Six Flags. read more

Stay far away! My son just graduated Navy boot camp this week. He wanted to go to Six Flags. We went online Thursday to buy tickets for Friday. We purchased "day passes" for Friday. Friday morning we found out that the park did't open until 5pm my son had to be back on base by 7pm. There was no message on the website when we purchased that they only had limited hours and what we purchased were not day passes as they stated. I spent an hour on chat trying to obtain a refund. I was finally told that the supervisor wouldn't refund me because park hours are available on the website. Then had the nerve to thank my son for his service! The site was misleading and I believe fraudulent. I will never give Six Flags another penny for the remainder of my life. My son shared his experience with all his ship mates as well. read more

This place has a variety of attractions from lazy to thrilling. This place is so fun you could get lost in it. The staff here was great, nice, and understanding. Guest services was the BEST. But, one thing that was lacking was cleanliness. After visiting here watch out as colds and fevers are common occurrence's after I visited. I wouldn't recommend going here in 2022. I'll never buy season passes again. Hour long line to get in Hurricane Harbor on weekends. We were there at 10:30 which was a 1/2 an hour before opening and the line was wrapped around the entire perimeter of the park. We decided to by-pass that line and enter the waterpark from inside Six Flags. It's a nightmare. People stalk you for your chair. I just put a shirt on because I was getting burned and people were like, "Can we have your chairs?" They were all standing in front of me. I couldn't even see my kids in the water. It's a nightmare. Too many people. It's ridiculous and something bad is going to happen. Our $30 cup we bought that we can get free re-fills on? Forget it! Every line you see is 30 minutes long. They need to hire more people, make more spots available to re-fill your drinks. These hot days are DANGEROUS FOR EVERYONE AND ESPECIALLY KIDS. It's horrible that they refuse to allow your own water bottles but yet don't provide adequate places to refill your rip-off cup. No water allowed in the park on 90 degree plus days is TOTALLY RIDICULOUS! My kids were dehydrated because each line was 30-45 min to get a damn refill. That is UNACCEPTABLE. That place is dirty and scummy people frequent the park. We counted over twelve bandaids in that wave pool! Totally disgusting. No way are we EVER GOING BACK TO THAT NASTY PLACE. The people who go nowadays look like they don't shower and they wear wife beater dego-tees in the water. Gross. Oh yeah, lots of the types of guys who go here wear their underwear and then sagging swim shorts so then we have to see their soaked butts in their fruit of the looms. Gross man. my children love going to Six Flags. It has been a staple and our family growing up always going to Six Flags and never gets old or boring issue for the one star which I will give is the inconsideration of the waterpark prices for chairs $40 every time you go for two chairs just sit you cannot bring your own chairs. That's way too expensive when they first started this rule I asked why the response was from the employee that because of Covid, six flags loss money I understand and I am sympathetic, but always has so many people more than attending their theme parks and water parks. I know they make well enough money and they need to remember that we all went through Covid and it is your customers are still supporting Six Flags great America charge us $40 for two chairs that you can't even take with you. We have a season pass like many other people and if you want to sit down and enjoy your children or just enjoy and relax, you have to pay 40 bucks every time to go four days a week if not more now we go maybe three times a month, the price for the chairs are ridiculous to your customers that still support your business please someone read this and that right away. This place used to be awesome! When this place first opened it was half the size and it was included with your ticket purchase but now they turned this place into an easy cash grab. Tickets are already expensive and now they're charging you more on top of that. The experience now isn't good. Somewhat over crowded, but multiple closed attractions and uncleanliness are unacceptable for any water park. Hair in the water and stepping on trash everywhere. I know the guests are mostly to blame for the trash but it seems the staff do not hose down the park and bathrooms each night or pick up the trash. Many attractions closed that day without notice. No reason given for the closed attractions even though we are in the peak of the water season. Some of the mechandise staff suggested it was lifeguard shortage but that makes no sense it was August and they have been open 2 months and still not enough lifeguards? Our daughter worked for a lifeguard company a few years ago at a municipal pool and their contract required adequate staff at all open hours regardless of the weather or the lifeguard company was fired. Would also like to see more security as many guests were very angry attractions were closed for no reason and no refunds given. Good diversity of rides for all shapes and sizes! Even on a busy weekend, there is space to sit and relax, but the pool areas are crammed to the max. Lazy river is always a good option and goes on for a while. Direct sunlight everywhere in the park, so on sunny days, be prepared with sunscreen and hat. There is a waterpark entrance which is usually a lot shorter than the entrance to the main park, so park closer to that for quicker entry! read more

My family and I bought an annual pass for Six Flags this year and were able to go to Hurricane Harbor twice. We had a great time both times, but of course there can be long lines on certain rides. My suggestion is just to avoid the lines and focus on those rides with shorter waits. If you do this, it's fairly inexpensive and fun. read more

Hurricane harbor is a great time. We have season passes and we enjoy our time there and at the theme park. My kids love skull cove and going on all the slides. However, if you plan on going on one of the hottest days, that happens to be a weekend or holiday expect long waits for everything from getting in to getting lunch, snacks and drinks refills. A word of advice is to get there when they open or later when the day people leave around 3pm. Then you can find chairs to put your belongings on too. By the mid- afternoon it is jam packed. It doesn't make for such a great time when your so close to people in pools, etc. The food served is actually pretty good. There are many options in the theme park, but not as many in hurricane harbor. The lines were extremely long, probably over an hour, so we decided to go to the theme park for our lunch and it turned out to be a good decision. Lines were much shorter so we could eat quickly and go back to hurricane harbor. A little later, my husband wanted to get us ice cream. He waited about an hour, which was agonizingly long in the heat. This had never happened before. It seemed like the staff was very disorganized and inefficient, so maybe they were new. It is the beginning of the season still so hopefully they work on the kinks to run better next time! . read more

We've been season pass holders for a few years now so we're pretty familiar with the park. Please consider this review very specific to our COVID-19 pandemic times. Overall, we had a good time and it was fun to be away from home. We would go back. * There were way fewer people there so it was fairly easy to distance on firm ground. * Staff looked like they did a nice job of cleaning after the rides (as best they could). * Your biggest risk is going to be waiting in lines. You can't wear masks on the rides so no one had a mask on while waiting in line. Furthermore, kids are really bad at distancing so they get closer than you'd want even though there is a ton of room to wait. If this bothers you, I'd strongly suggest you stay away. It is uncomfortable to tell people to keep their distance (at least for me). * The lines were generally ok. On the one hand, fewer guests help, but there were also fewer staff. So things didn't go as quickly as they normally do. Don't expect to have no waiting, but it was generally very bearable. * Sanitizer was plentiful all around the park. * Staff did not do a good job of enforcing masks or distancing. * The bathrooms were clean. * The entrance process was very fast (both parking and getting into the park), but I'm a season pass holder so that made it easier. * It was a little bit of a bummer that some of the rides were not open (likely because of limited staff). The wave pool didn't have waves (they said Illinois didn't allow them) and one side of the park was closed (Megga Wedgie, Surf Rider, Wipeout, Dive Bomber). All in all, I think Six Flags has made a pretty good effort at opening safely. It wasn't perfect, but definitely an enjoyable day for season pass holders. read more

This has to be the worst water park that I have ever visited. Nothing like paying $35 for parking, park passes for 6 people and renting a cabana only to have more than 50% of the rides closed all day and the rides that were open were so poorly run that the lines were impossible. My kids said the highlight of the day was watching them clear out the entire wave pool due to someone having a bowel movement in the water. Don't waste your money here, drive a little farther and go to the Dells or Deep River Water Park in Merrillville, IN. read more

Only went here because we got a good deal on a general Six Flags pass and it was a beautiful 80 degree Sunday. We would never pay the whopping 50.00 one day entry fee because you can't do much. Only 9 of about 30 slides were actually open and the lines were crazy. Most stuff that was open was for 48" and up only....so the 15 slides toward the back of the park, and in the kiddy pirate area that our slightly smaller 7 year old could have ridden were all closed. The app said more stuff was open than in reality. Lazy river was also closed. We tried to get a chair by the wave pool but there is only a small area of chairs not in the premium section that you have to pay extra for, so we had to just leave our stuff on the wet ground in order to enjoy that area. Didn't bother with getting food, but it is probably worse than airport prices and takes forever I have heard. What a let down... We hope they get it together because it could really be a fantastic water park if they had enough staff to have everything open in the middle of summer. read more

This is my favorite large water park in northern Illinois. We have a season pass for Great America so it's a no-brainer to stop in a few times each summer. To start with, we know it's always going to be busy here, but that kinda comes with the turf. We enjoy all of the rides and slides that they have. Lines for rides here take the same amount of time as other large water park. Even when it's busy, chairs can be found towards the backside of the park. For those looking to eat, they have plenty of options as well as a gift shop or two with swimming gear, etc. Cheers read more

Went for the first time today when bringing kids. Spent over 6 hours at both the amusement park side and water park. We didn't spend this much time in one day at Magic Kingdom before the kids were worn out. Great for 6 and 7 year olds 40+ inches tall. So much to do. Hurricane harbor blows away any of the other local water parks. The water rides are unique and plentiful. My only complaint is there is no entry to the waterpark from the parking lot. You have to walk halfway into the main park and another 200-300 yards down a winding path. We will probably get a season pass next year. read more

Awesome fun without the queue next door at the rides which can get up to 120 minutes per ride, that is, unless you fork out $hundreds$ to purchase the flash pass, especially if there's more than one person in your family/group. For the 120 minutes in queue for only ONE ride, you could do 1) go play the kiddie rides, no queue there; or 2) go to Hurricane Habor and ride a variety of slides, wave pools, float in the canal, or all these in that span of time. Some slides have queues, but there's a lot of good slides that doesn't, not kiddie ones (but even kiddie slides are still pretty fun!). We still love to go for the rides at Great America, but we go to Hurricane Habor more often. read more

First timers here and it was a blast! The kids had fun, we used their reading vouchers to get into six flags, only paid my ticket & my husbands. Added $10 each to get into Hurricane Harbor. Which my kids loved the most. It was very kid and family friendly. The kids enjoyed it, first impression or first experience I would say is asking us to come again. Definitely will come back. Food tho' is expensive. Customer service was great. It was clean when we went. Enough life gaurds on duty and around, I felt mu kids would be safe if I turned my back. read more
