There's a lot of different medium so you could choose something for your fitting, but I will say it was absolutely gorgeous and beautiful and take any pictures inside the art gallery. We went on a stroll around Grand Marias and stumbled upon Sivertson Gallery. They had a great selection from oil paintings to prints to sculptures to jewelry and the place was full of them found some amazing pieces of the north shore and found all of our Christmas gifts in one go. I can't go into the Sivertson Gallery without wanting to buy something. As a kid, it wasn't my favorite stop, though I did always love checking out the Betsy Bowen art and books. As an adult, from paintings to pottery, jewelry to prints, I'm always falling in love with some art. If your wallet is a little tight, you can find some great cards of some of the paintings and prints or a magnet or hook with a print on it. Even if you don't want to spend any money, it's a nice stop to view some great local artists. read more

We have been to the Sivertson Gallery in Duluth many times but I have never been to the one in Grand Marais until now. It is just as wonderful, or perhaps more wonderful because it's about three times as big. We loved looking around at all the interesting artwork and were only surprised that there was such a variety of artists. We saw many of our favorite items from the other store but in more varieties or amounts. The staff was extremely nice and accommodating - they wrote down all the information about a piece of artwork for my inlaws and the woman who helped me went out of her way to answer my questions, check inventory and in the end wrap the item I purchased carefully so it made it home in perfect condition. I will surely be back next time I'm in town! read more

Aside from original paintings and reproductions from Howard Sivertson (and a few other regional artists), the gallery carries a nice selection of more affordable items like coffee table books, post cards, and prints. The people working here have always been extremely patient and helpful when I've wandered in somewhat disheveled from a week or two on Isle Royale, Boundary Waters, or the SHT. This is a cut far above the usual North Shore tourist trap gallery filled with craft fair items and low quality prints of Brandenburg's Wolves. read more

Smallish (it's a small town, after all) but they have quality stuff and they do tend to focus on local artists. I've bought a few things from them -- from notecards to block prints -- and have my eye on a few pieces I may come back for when I have the cash. They tend to be more expensive than some other places in town but they also (I think) have better quality stuff than what you'll find elsewhere. This is a great gallery if you are looking for regional artists with a Lake Superior/Northwoods feel. I have purchased several pieces from this location as well as the one in Duluth. It's a beautiful space and a pleasure to take a break and walk around in. Loved the high quality artwork of Minnesota artists! Well-lit, and multiple types of art on display. I return annually to visit, and always see something new. My favorite paintings are those created by Jan Sivertson. She featured another artist who uses bold bright colors to depict the northern nature, named Adam Swanson. People at this gallery are super nice, knowledgeable and helpful. I visit each time I am in Grand Marais and always fine more than I expected, and have bought several pieces from them from notecards to original watercolors. The selection is beautiful, and they are in a great location in the center or the town. Plus right near the World's Best Donuts, another reason to stop in GM. This gallery always seems to feature new artists and work - and it is never junked up with poor quality pieces. read more
