However, if there was ever a gym that needed a refurb, this is it. The bars for the weights are rusty and dented. The plates are so old you can't see what weight they are. There's no clips for the ends of the bars. The floor is wooden, and dented and chipped. The cardio machines are erratic at best. The space is massive, and there's tons of equipment, but it's all old, and tatty, it's badly laid out, and half of it doesn't work properly.
Besides this, it is massively oversubscribed by American students, so you need to time your visit, because if you go between 6pm - 8pm there will be so many people there won't be any space for you to work out.
And when I went in April, and it was 27 degrees outside, the owner said it was too early in the year to put the air con on. Unfortunately, when it's that hot, opening the windows doesn't make it any more comfortable - but I got the impression that keeping her customers comfortable was not her priority.
