Very nice high-end art gallery in downtown Sitka. The shop is relatively small but has a fairly large selection of different types of artwork where the bronze statues and their intricate designs and beautiful finishes caught my eye. These pieces are developed using a mold where the bronze is then cast around it. The finishes which come across as marble in appearance once done are achieved via a secondary operation using an etching process. Finished product is absolutely beautiful and will provide a lifetime of enjoyment where these limited production pieces of work offer the buyer/collector the satisfaction in knowing very few pieces like this exist in the world! If you are a fan of fine artwork, then this is a business not to be missed. The owner was very informative and pleasant. The artwork was top notch and featured much of the local art. The carvings were most impressive. My sister and her husband own this gallery! You should go there if you're ever in Sitka. Sitka was named the most scenic city in Alaska. And the Sitka Rose Art Gallery is loveliest store in Sitka. There are handmade sculptures, paintings, and native art from World Class artists. As well as jewelry and knick knacks. Barbara (my sis) and Eugene (her Russian born hubby) are very friendly and nice (although I may be prejudice, I don't think you'd disagree). The building that the gallery is a beautiful victorian building that sits facing the water where the ships disembark. It really is a lovely place and I'm not just saying that because they are family. read more

We love the Sitka Rose Gallery! We found it on our honeymoon 15 years ago, and although we didn't buy anything at that time, I've ordered many things from them over the years and hope to buy more. We have mostly bought Eric Bealer prints. I've given them to my husband as gifts, and we've had them sent directly from the gallery as gifts. We have never been disappointed; in fact we are always stunned at how wonderful every piece has been -- even nicer than expected. The folks at the gallery bend over backwards to make sure that you get something you'll be happy with, that it arrives in time and in great condition. Beautiful gallery in Sitka, Alaska. We visited recently on a cruise ship and wandered into this gallery as we were strolling around town. I was thinking of getting some Alaskan art and wasn't disappointed with the selection. We found the perfect piece by some local artists and Eugene, the owner was very gracious and helpful. He made it super easy to ship the sculpture to our home in Canada and the piece arrived, incredibly packed and also very quickly. We were only disappointed that we couldn't take back items made from whale bone to Canada. Oh well, we still love our bronze sculpture of otters. Thanks Eugene! read more

Sitka Rose is definitely the best gallery in town, and the owners are fine people. I've made several trips to Sitka and have become a regular customer at Sitka Rose. Their collections are varied and all of good quality. I'm particularly fond of the woodcarvings they carry, and the carver was born in the house where the gallery is now located -- but about 75 years ago! read more
