The store itself is sort of hidden along the side of Springer Ave. so it's pretty easy to miss, but if you consider yourself a liquor/beer connoisseur, this place is a must visit. Though Gus' Liquors looked like nothing more than your local mom and pop's liquor store upon first glance (as it should, since it is family run and owned), a closer inspection of the establishment brought a surprising smile to my face--this store has all my German favorites all in one location: Warsteiner, Bitburger, Franziskaner, Paulaner, and Erdinger are just among the few rare imports you'll find at Gus', joined by a wide and intelligent choice of microbrews and of course your standard medioc... I mean, party brews like Bud, Coors, and etc. Gus' Liquors is also stocked with enough hard liquor to outlast a second coming of the Prohibition, their wine selection is mostly American but extensive and well thought out; if you're a casual glass-of-wine-with-dinner guy, you'll have no problem finding your gallo or clos du bois here. Since the alcohol tax in Oklahoma is significantly higher than a lot of states, you may notice that the prices here are a little bit steeper than most other states (like California, where yours truly claims residence,) but otherwise, this liquor store is an island of excellence in a sea of mediocrity.

I have patronize this store for 3 years now. I went there because, I liked the friendly staff, great selection and decent prices BUT... I went in there yesterday looking for everclear but, I couldn't remember the name all I could remember was 190 proof grain alcahol. I first asked a girl stocking after not seeing it,where it use to be. She replied Im new I don't know where anything is, and went back to stocking. The girl at the counter then asked what I said to the stocker and she told her but, The girl at the counter preceeded to go back to what she was doing. Like I was invisible. I then asked are you going to help me or just ignore me? She asked again what I needed with an obvious attitude problem. When I said 190 grain is all I could think of at that min. She shoots back at me in a nasty way. I need the name! All liquor is made with Grain alcahol (which proves right there she is clueless about liquor) I said not all is 190 grain though. She preceeded to yell at me we don't have anything 190 proof. I said funny Ive been coming here for the last few Years and, asked her name, which she informed me she didn't have to tell me. I happened to look to the left of her and see where they moved the Everclear. Right beside her. I said there it is Everclear see its 190 grain on the bottle. She then says she is not going to sell it to me and to go. I said for what? Call the police all I did was ask for Help ( which use to be customer service) and when I felt you were extremely rude asked for your name. She then moved to the side and told the girl stocking: You wait on him I'm not. There are enough liquor stores in Stillwater where they will appreciate our business. No customer or person period deserves to be treated that way . Especially when you pay their salary. JRS obviously doesn't care enough to hire helpful employees or how they treat people anymore. My 100+ employees will receive a $15 dollar card from me. = to Jr's $10 card and punch card.To patronize Any Other Liquor store in Stillwater. Just show their receipt alcahol purchase in 2023. Only way I will consider changing my mind if Jrs management proves to me they still care. If not, I am a manager and IT guy. Will be sure to get the word out about your great help.
